Awesome video Gary as always. I knew that the new feature to declutter the two-factor authentication messages was in iOS 17, but you showed me the setup for it is in the most unintuitive place! Not very "Apple-like" but you are right there, solving the mystery! Thank you!
So when u set up the declutter will it only delete upcoming notifications..will u have to delete the ones already on the phone ? Bc I still have mine on the phone 😅

Love your videos! Pertaining to Messages and stickers: these were nice and informative pieces! However I noticed maybe a bug? If you haven’t yet created any of your own stickers you will not get the + button, instead having to involve more steps and go to Photos to start. It’s not that big a deal though. It just would be nice to do so without leaving Messages.

Gary, thank you for the updates - you’re clear and concise with what you’re sharing. Love all the new features, especially the clean up password automatically feature!!! Question that’s similar to that feature - how do I let all devices know to delete a text message that I’ve deleted? I have all of my devices connected on the iCloud - they all know about incoming message activity, however they don’t know that I’ve deleted a message from one of the other devices. Leaving me having to delete the same message from all of my devices. UGH, so frustrating and wasteful time for time management.
In Settings, Apple ID, iCloud, tap "Show All" under Apple Using iCloud. Then make sure for Messages that iCloud Sync is on. Check for all of your devices.
Love the video and love these new features. Now if I can just make the snooze button small on my alarm clock

You can get third-party keyboards in the App Store. Look for one that has a keyboard that fits your needs.

Which codes? Apple's two-factor codes? Or codes from other services sent to you via SMS?
@@macmost When banks send you two-factor codes. I used to receive them thru my Mac and just click the code on the bank website to continue sign in. Thanks for your reply.

I absolutely HATE the new way you add photos with the + button on the messages. I liked the bar above the keyboard like it used to be

Can you make a video on iOS 17 NameDrop? I would like to know how to have a public contact to share through NameDrop, and a Private contact to not share with Name Drop. That way my REAL contact card is not shared when I do a NameDrop. I just want to NameDrop my name, phone, email, and address, not all the other stuff in my personal Contact Card! Thank you for all you do!
I think you would just create more copies of your own contact, each with exactly what you want to share. Then just share that contact from the Contacts app.

On my iPhone SE and iPad 9th Gen Versions 17.3 and 17.4 respectively the Delete after use in Passwords does not work. Neither does my system, also an iMac 12.7 does not delete messages on all devices. Do you have a fix for this?

I updated my iPhone 11 but don’t have the search above text messages is it because my phone is older I wonder? All I have is the plus button with options on text messages. Please lmk
It should be there. Are you scrolling down? Sure you are on the right screen, the list of conversations?
I have the latest 17.0.2 on my new iPhone 15 but no sign either of Check In or adding in Stickers. Is it cause I'se Canadian eh?
Could be. For Check In it says "isn’t available in all countries or regions." Stickers should be there though.

Great video, been at this all night in search of some modification of the (+) option ( at 1:00 ). Really simply, I don't want ANYthing in this list but 3 items. How do I delete the others? Now I know to go in SHOW IN HOME SCREEN etc, and under SIRI etc, but Apple Cash?? I turned it off completely, yet it's an option... Location, Audio, Store, Stickers, Memoji, Digital Touch.... I'm not 11 years ld... how can we simplify and delete all this junk from here?? Is that even an option yet?
You can get rid of third-party ones in Settings, Messages, iMessage Apps. But the ones you are talking about are built into Messages. Just move them to the bottom and leave the three you want to use above the "More."

Check In? They'll need an iPhone.
Check-in isn't working for me either. I thought maybe it was a setting somewhere but didn't find anything. I'm glad you mentioned it wasn't working for you.

Looks like the person(s) you are messaging has to also be on IOS17
You didn’t include the new (P)primary & (B) business line. Which isn’t allowing me to test certain people who are for some reason under business line and I have it turned off
How do you easily access your Wallet in your Watch under 10? I can ask Siri or add the Wallet widget, but the double tapping of the button no longer works. It would be nice if they would add wallet as a function to the Ultra’s action button.
It appears for me as an app in the app list.
I just used my watch to pay a few minutes ago in OS 10. Just double tap the button below the crown and it will show your cards.
Great and clear video, what about group text, I have a mix of Android contacts in a group message, if I need to add another person or delete someone from the list, I have to start all over with a new group message. I hope Apple addressed this long standing issue.
There are MMS improvements, so maybe they did. Try it and see.
@@macmost I think Apple wants Android users to buy an iPhone. Lol, but seriously, it even affects sending a video to an android will get truncated, and the quality will go really bad on the other hand. The same video goes through to an iPhone user with perfect quality..
@@007Yasir Yes, but Apple can't fix that. That's controlled by the mobile phone companies. There are limits on SMS and MMS set by them and the tech behind that.
@@macmostactually Apple is the one that needs to change in regards to the bad quality of vids and pics. Currently the process of making Apple send messages clearly with android is coming. Similar to them being forced into type c.
and one extra feature of messages is that you cannot have custom text tones. If you had them assigned to a contact, they remain. But you can’t access them for a new contact or change them on an existing contact to the custom ones that are on your phone. I hope this is a bug as opposed to what Apple might consider a feature or money making venture. Else.,It’s back to Android
I'm guessing this is a bug and will be fixed.
In Messages Filters there is no check mark after tapping a particular filter. Is a tap all it needs to use that filter?

When I hit the + and select location, it says “location is off” and to go to settings. What do I need to turn on? Location services is selected green. Thx.
Could be: Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services, Messages.
I don't have that + option on my iPhone.
So, I recently updated my iOS and now I don’t have TH-cam as a selectable icon in messages to share… do you know how to fix this?
That would be something the TH-cam app would need to add in.
#5 location---I used to be able to see the satellite view of someones location shared with me, now that is gone, anyway to add it back?
So you are saying that when you choose this option it isn't working for you? Call Apple Support and they will walk you through things.
Any bugs in new iOS? There is no Wi-Fi and Cellular signs on main screen after updating, but I see it in Apps
Turn your phone off and on again. They will come back.

Anyone know how to remove the audio messages feature to the right of the text bar above the keyboard? I have already disable dictation at Settings / General / Keyboard. I find myself tapping the icon accidentally.
No way to remove it. If you tap it accidentally just dismiss it.

Any chance of doing a video on Photos cause it seems like they overhauled that as well, specially on editing pictures.
They didn't really change much. Pets in the People albums and the ability to edit Memories. A few other small things.

Photos, so with the previous version when you go to edit a photo/picture, you press ➕, that would give you the option “Add Text”, “Add Signature”, “Description” and “Magnifier”. With iOS17 they removed “Magnifier”, and put in “Add Sticker” and “Add Shape”. Looked everywhere but nothing. Not sure why Apple would eliminate it 👎🏽

Yes. SMS Forwarding is a setting in Settings, Messages.

No way for me to know what could be wrong in your case. Could be a bad address or phone number, could be a problem with the person's devices or account on the other end. Could be they just are out of range of any connection or their device(s) are off.
So what's the difference between Check in and Share my ETA in maps? Seems redundant
Check In is more sophisticated. See support.apple.com/guide/iphone/use-check-in-iphc143bb7e9/ios or just try them both and compare.
