- hi everyone!! today’s video is actually a little tutorial! i teach you how to start your own digital journal! digital journaling is so fun & a budget-friendly way to be creative. (i know it can be difficult to afford physical journaling supplies. 😢)
in addition to being free, it’s also really easy! (and you’re probably already using all the apps i mentioned! ipad journaling has always been something i was interested in, but i never really wanted to bother with learning how to use goodnotes or whatever else ppl use lol.)
how - to :
step 1 - gather the images you want to use for your spreads
step 2 - remove the background from all the images so they’re now transparent
step 3 - make your spread
(move around and layer items until you achieve a result you like, then fill in with text if you have anything to write. 🥰)
method 1: sketchbook only
pros - using your own handwriting will make your journal spread more realistic, layers are easily arranged, you can use the eraser tool to create jagged edges on your paper items, you can save your spread with a transparent background
cons - none, really
method 2: canva only
pros - the crop tool, lots of items to use for making your spread, frames, grid tools to help with symmetry
cons - you can’t download your spread with a transparent background unless you have a pro account
method 3: canva + sketchbook
pros - the best of both methods
cons - having to switch apps, maybe a little more time consuming?
step 4 - display your spread in the paper app in your digital journal
(just upload the image, adjust it until it’s fitting in the journal how you’d like, and that’s it. ✨)

does this work on android or is there an alternative/similar apps? :)
unfortunately no, the paper app is only for ios. :((( i feel like the best alternative is a note-taking app, but the goodnotes android app is apparently trash, and the only other free one i can think of is onenote? none of those have quite the same notebook feel though. :(

You can do all this on a pc with free and fewer apps.
