Just the negatives this time... Dizziness if i don't hydrate and replace electrolytes, a little loose skin. I'm Cold a lot, but have found that wool base-layers are a life saver. Restaurant wait staff service, may be lousy since you don't order much to eat or drink. Kidding aside, the clothing budget is a killer, Pretty sure Ive spent well over $1,000 on new clothing. Its not just shirts and pants. its coats, underwear, shoes (yes, my feet shrunk a size, as my arches raised back up). i have not lost significant hair like many others, but its a big risk. Start your biotin supplements right when you begin preop diet, not after surgery, stay away from grocery store vitamins, and purchase a high end $35 per month+ multi vitamin. Acid reflux is a huge risk. It didn't affect me, but it might you, picking the right doctor who performs the Inverted Sleeve will reduce (not eliminate) the risk here. Another negative side effect... Don't become a horrible person. I've observed a few post op patients who have been big their whole lives, and for some reason feel the need to become condescending, proud, arrogant, and feel the need to redirect all of the hurt that we've collected all of the years back at others. Don't criticize what people eat, how much they exercise, or tell people how they need to do something about their weight. Be kind to everyone.
helpful Scott! I'm about 16 months out and the cold all the time is the hardest thing by far. I by clothes on eBay and at Goodwill so that's how I deal with that :) I'd point out that not everyone experiences all these effects - and even if they do this is still worth it -hands down - it beats the crap out of being extremely overweight.
My mom had R&Y and her dentures became too loose. She didn't get them refitted (or new ones made) and wound up losing too much weight because she couldn't chew. So, if you have dentures, eye glasses, or other prosthetic bits, make sure to set money aside to have those refitted.
Everyone is different man, my friend for the most part has had minimal side effects and problems. He is around 5’11 and weighed 428, he’s now down to 268. He said it’s worth it, no regrets. It’s all about doing things right, following the plan. I am about 6’1 316 right now, got my orientation soon, I’m going through with it, hopefully 180-220 lbs by the end, I’ll be happy. Thanks for sharing your experience, I appreciate it.
I watched and laughed along with this video pre-op and made a note to myself to re-watch this when I got to 6 months post-op. Well here I am....6 months out, down 132 since start of my 2-week pre-op diet (112 since surgery itself), and every damn thing in this video rings true. The lack of hunger, the lack of sweating, the being cold all of a sudden, not needing my CPAP anymore, not being afraid to sit in chairs, not being winded through normal activity, my wife being able to hug me all the way around, improved romantic relations, etc. I am so happy to be able to empathize with all these "side effects"!!! Thank you for helping motivate me.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I’m a couple months out from surgery & the pre & post surgery diets are scary. But this video gave me hope & enthusiasm to proceed. Also so many videos on this topic are from the women it’s great to hear a man speak.
What a sweet person you are. Thank you for your transparency and vulnerability. I’m preparing to get sleeved and this video helps me to know what to expect. May God bless you, your wife and kids as you make years of wonderful memories together!
Scott, I've watched so many videos about VSG, and I must admit that your video had me captivated. The title lured me in, and I was ready to hear all the bad, but contrary, it was like music in my ear. Thanks for sharing!!
I am so glad I found this video! Totally didn’t expect it to be so positive and I Really really needed to hear this as I’m a few days away from my VSG. I have been a nervous wreck and have been having cold feet. So thank you for sharing this, helped me so much.
Hallelooyer!! Finally a positive video about VSG. I've been approved for surgery and after having EGD this coming Friday I will see doc and get my surgery date. So many videos I've watched are whiney and negative. In 45 mins, give or take a few, you have addressed EVERY question I could have EVER asked. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the positive vibes! I'm now ready to get this show on the road!
This was VERY helpful. Idk I’ve watched so many videos trying to decide if this is something for me and this video has done it for me. I just wanna be able to sit on the plane and not struggle to buckle my seatbelt. So freaking embarrassing.
This was the best video about weight loss surgery that I have watched. I have watched dozens in preparation for my upcoming procedure. You give such a human, understanding perspective! I related to everything you mentioned about being obese. I can only hope to be a successful as you. Thank you for sharing your story and I would love to hear more from you!
3 years later and this video is still helping people. I had all but made up my mind to get a sleeve but hearing you talk about enjoying exercise reinforces thr decision. I used to LOVE moving when I was younger and I really miss it. Anyway thanks!
I had VSG in 2013. I have had very little side effects. I get heartburn more than I used to. Eating really dense foods i.e. bread, beef short ribs etc. results in heartburn. I haven't had any weight gain. My appetite is reduced but that is what I wanted. The gains from the surgery far outweigh the negatives.
Happy Life do it! Don’t let anyone discourage you by saying you should lose on your own, blah blah, most of them have never been fat or know how difficult it is for some of us to lose the weight. What matters is that you’re making the change to lose weight because no one is going to do it for you. I have two more nutritional classes to go, my psych eval and hopefully I get my surgery date around February-March. Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂
I would like to get the sleeve. I had a Doctor appointment today and i mentioned it to my Doctor and she said i should look into the side affects. But that on my next Doctor appointment she will talk to me more about it. And said it's a 6 months process.
I will be 80 yrs old on my next birthday. Had the sleeve several years ago, after lap band didn't work out. Have never regretted my decision. Each person is different. It's trail and error. And, mostly common sense. The best advise I can give is take lot's of vitamins and drink lot's of water for your skin. I weighed 132 and now weigh 120. Picture is 2 yrs old. Good luck and hugs to all of you.
janice brown Good to hear, congrats!. my band failed and was removed, now i’m heavier than i was before the band and it’s so depressing. considering the sleeve but scared of the same side effects of the band. how long did you have the band, did you regain all your weight after it and how long have you had the sleeve?
Actually u got rid of every single proplem cuz of obesity in short u can say u get a new life .... so if these are sides effects then i want my new life ...
You are sooooooo positive without being annoying! You’r outlook and personality is +++! Congrats on your success! I’m 6 weeks down and already lost 48 pounds.... can’t wait to be in the 100’s! PS also congrats, you’re now a Dilf.... haha
Hope your well I am 38 days out of surgery zero regretS. Its no joke I cannott overeat it like a built in failsafe if you do you get major acid reflux at least I do. Be careful of drinking you will have very little tolerance and can get drunk on a 1/10 of what you may have ever drank in past. Stay on aggresive diet because YES you can stretch the band ans put it all back on. Rheir arent ant videos from people that stretched the band and put it all back. I dont think you do this easily it would be pizzas but candy and ice cream is still easy to digest as the uogurt and protein shakes. On protein shake check carbs some are loaded with them some that tasye just as good have only 6grams
I’m just a few days away from my scheduled surgery. My wife is giving me a really hard time already against it, but I believe I need this so much I’m going against her wishes. That being said this video really helped me get rid of some of that negativity she’s bringing on me. Thank you, I’m ready for surgery!
Why? Is she afraid you will look great and she will lose you to another woman. The problem seems with her. Fuck her wishes. This is your health. Maybe she is not worth it. . .
You definitely have to do it for you. This is about you and your health and that’s important. It’s time for you to invest in yourself and get back into the game of life. I’m 10 months out and this was the best decision for me. It’s a challenge but it was necessary for me. I don’t regret it and I’m happy healthy and hopeful for my future. Be blessed and happy always. You deserve it
@@jvjdrn I’m like 10-11 weeks out from surgery and I’m doing well! It hasn’t been easy, I’ve always been a fast eater so breaking that habit has made things harder then they already are. My wife is still bitter, and she seems to refuse to compliment me on my weight loss. And any time I don’t feel good after I eat she’s quick to rub it in my face. It’s been a lot of adjustments, but I am very happy I stood my ground and did this for me. I just believed with all my heart it was what’s best for me. Still got a ways to go, I am down at least 40 pounds… but again it’s been very challenging, as well as rewarding.
@@patrickcuratola7874🚩 …. Just sayin….. Good luck with it all. She sounds like she’s one of those negative people that this guy is telling you to avoid. Not quite sure how you’re gonna do that. You might need to go to a counsellor to get her to stop.
i just had the sleeve surgery Oct 4,2018 I have so many emotions. Ive been watching video after video some are good some not so good. but this one I enjoyed and needed to hear. On day of surgery I went in 287lbs and as of today only a few weeks Oct 21,2018 259lbs. I wish all those who has or is going to get the sleeve surgery all the best.
Happy Life it’ll work, I’ve seen people drop a good amount, but once you start cheating and going back to old habits, every single pound goes back on. Seen that too many times.
Happy Life I haven’t had the surgery yet, it will be around February-March depending on how fast my insurance approves. They already sent me the vitamins though so I can get used to taking them. My friend had the sleeve done, and he didn’t experience hair loss, the important thing is to take everything as instructed, very important.
Man you knocked this right out the park. I’m in the process of getting my VSG, and just hearing you explain all the things that we go thru being bigger people really makes me see that I’m on the right path. Thanks for the honesty man. Keep up the good work.
The titles scared me at first, because I'm seeking to have bariatric surgery. I skipped over the video several times, but then something told me to go ahead and watch it and I'm glad that I did watch it, because I thoroughly enjoyed this video!
Thanks, don't be afraid to watch the warning videos. In fact, watch as many as you can find. it's important to be well informed, and know and understand the risks and recovery thoroughly. I had read so posts about recovery, that my expectations were set, and there were no surprises.
C. King - I was just about to say the exact same thing! I’m scheduled for surgery new year’s eve (8 days from now) and DESPITE adding this vid to my playlist TWO WEEKS AGO, I had to work up the nerve to click on this video!!! Once I saw the length and title, I really thought “Omg! I see this man looks fantastic and healthy but I’m scared shitless he’s gonna tell me something HORRIBLE that will TERRIFY me!?!?!??” I wish I watched this video FIRST!!! I hope he reposts this vid with an alternate title just to see what it draws in! ♥️♥️♥️♥️☺️😍😉👍
5 years post gastric sleeve procedure for me. It was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life. At my heaviest I was 390, now I’m at a healthy 225 at 6’. You’ll be able to eat more after a year, so you’ll still need to watch your eating habits. I had skin removal surgery and that was very tougher go through but it was worth it.
Wow! Just wow! Even being female, I can relate to almost all of this. Almost 25 years being morbidly obese, I have had enough. It's going to cost me a shed load of money, but I have decided enough is enough. I want to make the most of the rest of my life & see my daughter grow up. Fairground rides, sweating and disability all impacted by my inability to stop shovelling junk in my face. I never feel full, am always hungry and when I'm not eating, I'm sobbing my eyes out over my lack of control. Consultation in 16 days and I'm nervous as heck BUT your video has inspired me. Thank you so much for sharing & congratulations on your new life and continued hard work. Big thumbs up to your wife too. I doubt you could have done it without her support and love. Thank you x
I don't tell anybody anything. NOYB. I got such non-support from a few family members I just said forget it. I am taking it slow, this is a TOOL not a magic procedure. I am happy with 1-2 lb loss every 10 days. I did this to get my health back on track... Thanks to fellow TH-camrs who keep me motivated.
Lisa Gunnison I’m in the same boat. NONE of my family want me to get it. They think I’m being lazy and am thinking that the sleeve is an easy way out when it’s just the opposite. I, too, have just been bombarding myself with TH-cam videos. They say I’m not that big to begin with. I’m 75 lbs over my ideal weight for my height. They say there’s people out there bigger then me. No shit. That doesn’t magically make me thinner and healthier! I hope you are having good results.
Going on three years since my original post. For me, best decision I ever made. Age 61. I dodged a bullet and changed my life, learned much. No regret.
I loved your video i am may 21,2019 4 years post op, i was 258 before vsg, i am age 61 now 5"2 tall i stay between 117-120. i Was a size 3x before sizes 26 .28. Big clothes i stay around. size 8 petite some 10s. I love my sleeve. I mess up. But i will not go back to where i was !!! i am off Five meds a cpap. I still watch videos. I still attend weight loss seminars. I have journaled from day 1 still do on my second. Journal. I also have a seperate Gratitude journal. I feel blessed.God bless you on your life long Journey, we do this to take Back our lives and Health!! I still use protein drink some!! lots of water. No carbonation ever
Scott, I love your sense of humor! I’m 60 years old, and about to have bypass surgery, as opposed to VSG, as recommended by my gastric doc. I have many medical issues, including diabetes, and won’t be able to normally exercise, but I can walk... Your experience has brought even more excitement for me, and things to look forward to. I may have a difficult journey ahead, especially at my age, but I’m very focused on becoming as healthy as I can be, and live longer, with my family, be more able to help those around me, and be more productive with the rest of my life. Thank you for your story, and sharing your life.
Very inspiring to watch, Scott. Just had my sleeve surgery 4 days ago and I'm so looking forward to loosing around 80 pounds and staying healthy for the rest of my life. You definitely have a new subscriber from Denmark now. :-)
Thanks Scott. I'm booked in to get my sleeve done in 63 days in Australia. I've watched a lot of these types of vids but this was the best that I have seen. Your pre sleeve stats are very similar to mine and I related to every point you made. This has helped me immensely. Congratulations and thank you. Now to watch all your other vids. Keep up the great work!
This video literally brought tears to my eyes. Like others who’ve already commented, I saw this video and passed it up a few times because of the title, but I knew I needed to know everything I could before going forward with my choice to have a weight loss surgery done. You are funny, endearing, informative, and adorable (Darth Vader impressions in bed XDD) So far your video has been the ONLY video that mentioned the one thing that made me start my journey- my feet. I have had plantar fasciitis for almost ten years. Nothing helps. It stalls me from everything in my life that would help me loose weight. I currently work three jobs and at the end of the day I can’t even play with my kids or clean my house. This video will be the reason I go forward with my surgery.
wow. I am considering this surgery and watching your positive video has made me feel so much better, I was very worried. i appreciate your calm demeanor and knowledge.glad I cam across this. Scott Farkus affair lol
oh boy.. i cant imagine how u made this video but it was superb.. i too am an obsese person and m going for bariatric sleeve next month.. there are so many points that u discussed that are so so true in reality and i am going to witness them soon. i am doing this for me, for weight loss bcoz i have tried everything else and for wanting also to be there for my family.. a beautiful and true to the points you discussed.. thank you
Hi Scott, I know it's been a few years since this video was made by I'm just getting ready for my surgery. Thank you so much for this video I needed it badly. Your story and side effects hit so so close to home. I relived them all as you were talking. You just pushed me right back into the state of mind I needed. So again Thank you and wish you continued success on your journey. Loved every minute of this video and it would make a great self help book for us trying to find our path. Take care, Boyd
Just watching your video here in August of 2019. I have been contemplating having the surgery and part of my personal process of evaluating anything is to gather information and listen to what people who have had the experience have to say. I have to say that your life experiences mirror mine, and I guess anyone who has been obese. All of the feelings that you have had (The Airplane especially), where spot on. My BMI is 54, I'm 59 years old and im just sick and tired of being fat. It makes me sad to be stuck in my own body, not being able to enjoy life as much as I see others do. I want to be able to have the intimacy that you describe with my wife. She is my life and I want to spend as much time with her as I can. Thank you for sharing your story, I wanted to let you know that your experiences and your insights have helped this person make an important decision in his life.
Hello, I'm also looking at the video. And I too are tired of carrying the unnecessary weight. This fat thing is kinda new, In terms of being small most of my life. Earlier years of course. 2017 my weight just jumped up so fast. WOW!!!! My husband and his family are small as well as my own family. My mother and my siblings. Tired of being the fattest one in the holidays pictures. Pray for me and I will definitely pray for you 🙏❤️
Thank you for this video... my fiancé just had VSG done today and I’ve been feeling so scared and nervous because this is the first time I’ve ever seen him in a significant amount of pain but just seeing all the positive side effects of the surgery have helped me look forward to our future together... I really appreciate this video ☺️
Indigo If you don't mind me asking, how is your fiance doing? How are you both dealing with everything since surgery? My fiance is having VSG next month and I am a little worried about the pain and all the adjustments we will need to make. I just want to be as supportive as I can for him.
My surgery is in June, 2019. I just started this process in December. I don’t know which procedure I’m having because I want to keep an open mind and choose, with the help of my surgeon, the one that is perfect for me. I loved watching your video, and hearing some of your tongue-n-cheek side effects. I am SO ready to experience them.
I have been searching for people with negative things to say about this surgery. I have found a few but MOST are positives and it makes me more and More ready to move forward with my decision to do this. I love this video. Thanks.
Scott not sure if you will see this mate but I am 30 and have a 4 year old son, all your comments around family hit home with me and I have been weighing up on getting a VSG for the past 2 years, this video has made my mind up that tomorrow I am going to call my GP and get a referral for a VSG (I am in Australia) thank you for your honesty in this video.
Simply the best video for side effects you just would not have thought of. I feel more knowledgeable and confident in my decision because I listen to your experiences. Thank you.
OMG I’m so glad I found you! I’m having surgery in Sept and cannot wait …. But totally identify with much you say here and Thankyou so much for being so candid. I have a BIG chair phobia and looking forward to losing that one, and have learnt to sew so I can adjust clothes for a while at least. It’s MUCH easier to take things in than to expand them so my sewing machine is likely to get a workout!! I’m definitely going to go through your posts now x
This is a great video man. I'm going in weds for my procedure. This video was very helpful. Change the title because it's misleading. You're delivering a great message here.
THANK YOU! I was hesitant to watch..lol My surgery date is 9/19 and after watching this, my nervousness has diminished almost completely. Thank you for sharing your experience. You look great!
I’m in the process of getting this surgery and this video has been everything I been looking for. There is not a lot of video of men talking about the vsg well that I couldn’t find. But this one was great congratulations on your success and keep up the great work. thank you so much!
I had my VSG 7/16. 310 to 180. Watching your video is like looking into a proverbial mirror! I spend the 42 minutes nodding in agreement with Everything you said.
You are hilarious! I’m seeing the doctor Tuesday for my consultation. I’m so anxious to start this journey. ( as I’m writing this my phone is on my stomach 🥹)Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I am 7 months post-op and am still thrilled with these things. Crossing my legs, my fur-baby sharing the couch (she didn't fit with me before), having more energy, sleeping better... for reference: SW 235 CW 175 GW 160. I am 5'7". I wish I would have accepted my food addiction years ago (I am a recovered drug addict). Better now than never. :)
I had gas pains from surgery for about 4-5 days. My caregiver friend pounded on my back with the sides of her fits (like burping a baby) and GasX helped. It goes away, I promise! Walking little steps a LOT helps too. Best of luck. You got this! @@marissaford6010
I have been on flights where a stewardess recommended me to buy a second seat, I have been asked to get off a ride at an amusement park, you are not alone. I had lapband surgery 9 years ago and had it removed in Dec. 18’ due to it making me sick. Feb. 28th is my sleeve date I appreciate the video and can relate to much of what you experienced.
Scott, thank you for this video, it is a true incentive for my intention to take the path of weight-loss surgery, for which I waited far too long. In fact, I am scheduled for VSG in December 2019 and the more videos (mainly on TH-cam) I watch, the more I look forward to it. Your video has clearly defined the outcome that I am hoping to expect from the procedure, and I am grateful that there are people like you sharing their honest and informative testimony about their VSG experience. I am a baby-boomer and considerably older than you, and almost my entire life has been a weight struggle such as you described it in your video which seems to be a very realistic representation and I wanted to thank you for sharing the change that you have gone through after your surgery. My weight is far higher than yours at your worst moment, my BMI is horribly beyond 40, and I am currently experiencing an increased portion of all the symptoms that you have described in your video. Hence, I so much hope and pray that I can accomplish my goal and reach my target weight because I crave for another decade or two of a far healthier life. Thanks also for the tip of start taking biotin prior to surgery and swap out my supplements for a high-end multi-vitamin. And yes, Kindness matters, always! Thank you!
Thank you for making this video. I have my VSG surgery tomorrow and I've been worried. I clicked on this video looking for potential downsides. You've make my decision going forward that much easier.
Thanks for sharing. I am considering VSG and had skipped over your video, but I decided to just brace myself to hear all the negative things. Thanks for your honesty and great job!!!
I'm having surgery in about a week, and I've seen so many videos of people's stories. But this was the best one yet ... loved the honesty and some of the small things you talked about, that people dont mention .
This was extremely helpful. I am still nervous about this procedure especially since I am 48, a diabetic with high blood pressure and a food addiction that spans decades. Thank you for sharing your story. I can relate to so many of the pre-surgery situations.
I am slap diabetes high blood pressure heart surgery 315lbs hoping I will be approved my consultant is 10/29/19 did you have your surgery yet how did it go 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Toni Ellis I just had my surgery last week and I will tell you, that addiction is in your head, once you get surgery and no longer feel hungry then next battle is your mind and fighting the food away. But it’s much easier after the surgery not being able to eat and your taste buds change too.
I'm considering gastric sleeve as I have been overweight many year's. Recently found out I needed knee replacement surgery but was told I was at risk. Then the doctor suggested this surgery. So thank you for your honesty and your side effects I can certainly live with
Well my friend, I have been on the fence for the last 6 weeks about whether or not to have my sleeve surgery done... Thank you so much for nudging me over twards having the surgery. My wife will be so happy that I've finally made a decision, especially since my surgery is only 3 days away... LOLOL (yes I know, you would think that I had already made this decision by now, but truth is you don't really face it till its right in front of you.) I have been so concerned with what I would be losing that I did not looked at all of the little things that I would be gaining. Also, I am about 295 lbs at 6 foot tall and I thought that I'm just not big enough to need this surgery, I can lose the weight on my own (even though I've tried and lost numberous time just for it to return). My bp is 145/90, I take cholesterol meds and I am prown to gout. My reasoning for looking at this surgery is for heath issues same as you. I am very happy that I have found someone so similar to myself that has had the surgery and seems to be very happy with it. I had not seen anyone similar to my stature that I could use to compare my situation to untill I watched your video and you go into alot of things that I had not even thought about. Thank you so much for sharing and helping me in my decision making process. :)
One of the best post-op experience videos I've seen. Thanks for sharing your journey! On my 2nd day post op so these 'experiential' videos are really helpful to prepare for similar situations I may encounter.
I am in the middle of my second week out since VSG surgery. I greatly appreciate this video even though it's quite old right now. You definitely hit the nail on the head many times. I have to ride a small bus to a secure area every day and I too, experience people who will bypass a seat next to me and squeeze next to someone at the back of the bus rather than sit next to me. I've had people choose to just stand up rather than sit next to me. I've had people sigh when I sat next to them. It's a 5 minute bus ride for Christ's sake. Even though I dress decently and make sure I smell good, people would rather be distant from me rather than near me. I'm down 25lbs since surgery (8 days out) and am hoping to have even 1/2 of the success that you've had. Thank you for the video.
@@scottfarkusvsg8127 In 4 days, I'll be 4 months out and will have lost 60lbs in 4 months since surgery, 90 since I started losing weight before surgery. I've had no difficulties beyond my current inability to tolerate spicy foods and things are going well. Thank you and I hope you're doing well.
I have been large and small and recently gaining following a 100 lb. loss and 2 year general maintenance. And you are right that people treat you better when you are small. When I was larger (even very large), I thankfully never experienced the blatant unkindness that you deceive. That may merely be because I’ve never been in that exact situation or maybe because I happen to live in a part of the country where being kind is really considered standard behavior. But reading what you wrote made me so sad and also angry... I wish that I could give you a big hug and tell you that it is VERY clear that the man who wrote that is intelligent and has a huge heart! I wish you such good things! ❤️
Dont right yourself of so much some people are nice because they are returning the same attitude as yours but i get what you are saying. I was the same as you and im only 6 months post op and my emotions are all over the place atm and you reminded me that a lot of work still has to be done and why. i can see well how deep your pain is when you talk about your previous self and relate well to it but if you survived that you will be unstoppable now Great video keep them up and congrats on your hard work.
This video helped me make the decision to get RNY. Now I'm a week and a half post surgery, it's been tough so far, but this video has helped encourage me again. Thank you!
I am perusing my weight loss surgery. I have RA and in pain often, also have moderate sleep apnea. I just want my quality o life better, I want to enjoy life. I look forward to this journey.
Hey Scott thank you for not cursing and raising your voice your voice is very smooth which makes watching all you video a pleasure I am in the final stage of my journey thank you so much for all the information 👏👏👏👏
This video answered every single question i wanted answered i have been searching for videos for over a year and have not found one with half the information thats in this video. Sir THANK YOU my surgery is in 2 months and i cant wait!
Thank you so much for your honesty. Your voice is very therapeutic and I enjoyed watching/listening your video. I can relate to a lot of the "before" issues, and you have really encouraged me and made me very excited for my journey! Surgery is July 18th for me. Thank you for saying it like it is! :)
Scott, a heartfelt thanks for a down to earth, candid report of the everyday things you have encountered since your surgery. Especially for touching on the impact on the sexual side of your marriage. You really touched my heart when you spoke about your wife being able to finally put her arms right around you. You spoke about many real, every day things that so many other people who make these videos just seem to ignore. Would it be possible in a future video for you to report or for your family members to speak about how all of this has affected them? How they saw you then and now. The differences they see in you, your personality, outlook, family activities etc, the things that they feel are a positive and if any negatives of your surgery and weight loss? Congratulations on your amazing achievement and informative video. Please continue to keep us updated. Your a real inspiration. Thank you again and God bless you and your family.
I’m glad I watched this video. I had my first dr appt. yesterday.... I can honestly say that everything you have said, I as a man have experienced. My projected surgery date is going to be in May. Best and most informative video I have watched about the sleeve surgery... Thanks again and God bless!!
Awesome Scott! I can relate to most of what you said about being obese and can’t wait to be able to look back at it like you are. Thanks for vlogging this.
This was very very informative. Im scheduled for next month and wanted to be aware of all the possible side effects. Everything you’ve said are things I’m willing to accept as side effects. Thank you so much for sharing your truth.
Thanks for sharing this...this is really motivational for me. I have my surgery January 28th 2019. I'm nervous but ready. My main concern is losing too much
DarknLuvly G I just had mine on may6th and I’m also concerned about losing too much! I thought I was the only person that felt like that! Since you had the surgery over a year ago, have you lost too much? How much did you lose in the first few weeks? I’ve lost like 22 pounds, should I have lost more?
Hello Scott from NYC. Thank you for sharing all this information. I just got the sleeve on Monday, and already feel much of what you state in the video. I am feeling very positive. I wish to thank you for your candidness in covering these key points, it has been really helpful to me and I find it very supportive tool to listen to you. You are a star! Cheers, Dave.
Great vid, I am contemplating surgery but attending NHS dietitian first for 12 months. Still believe I will go down the same road as you have so really encouraged to listen to this “shocking” positive side effects.
Thank you so much for this video. I felt like you were speaking but they were my stories. I’m 6 days from surgery. I’m so looking forward to the side effects.
Loved your video. Thank you so much. I'm feeling a lot better about my decision. I have a 2 year old daughter and thinking of being able to ride rides at the amusement park has made me feel really happy. Again, thank you.
Thank you for this video! I am getting ready to have bariatric surgery and I was having a lot of time getting my mother to support the idea! I am her primary caretaker and honestly she was just very scared for me to do this I showed you her video and since then she has been very supportive She has never been an overweight person and I don't think she ever has thought about these things that we go through I think it gave her a different frame of mind, rather than just looking at the risks! Thank you!
Best ever reflection on this change and a huge motivationto pull this.off for myself. ...I cannot wait for welcoming and appreciating the side effects of my surgery upcoming in summer. Thanks so much.
This video exceeded my expectations! The was expecting to hear many reasons not to do this surgery! I have my appointment to begin the process by consulting with the doctor I’ve chose . Fortunately I won’t have to do a weight management program but I will have to meet with a nutritionists for a specific amount of times before I get a surgery date.
I’m 68, thirty years obese, and have decided my path. I want to take a rickshaw ride next time I visit Japan. I want to cried the rides. I want to walk fast. I have yet to get the date, but very soon Your video just about touched on every item that has flashed through my head. I’m so very glad you have achieved so much to get this far. Thank you so much for a frank and honest talk. One more step on my journey. 🙏🇦🇺🙏
I truly believe this surgery saved my life. I’ve lost 150 lbs. ❤️🙏🏻
Congratulations 👑🎉
Exactly..everyone is different too.
.maybe but I bet there are better alternatives
I love ur channel 🥰 has help me a lot .
Scott Farkus VSG Thanks. My surgery is April 11th. Im so nervous. I keep thinking im going to mess up after surgery.
helpful Scott!
You look great and I love your advice!! I hope I don’t change the person I am.
Congratulations on your progress! Truly a life changer. :)
Lolzzz
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I’m a couple months out from surgery & the pre & post surgery diets are scary. But this video gave me hope & enthusiasm to proceed. Also so many videos on this topic are from the women it’s great to hear a man speak.
What a sweet person you are. Thank you for your transparency and vulnerability. I’m preparing to get sleeved and this video helps me to know what to expect. May God bless you, your wife and kids as you make years of wonderful memories together!
I'm a female but it's nice hearing a male's perspective on having the surgery. Thank u
Good luck and hugs to all of you.
janice brown
Good to hear, congrats!. my band failed and was removed, now i’m heavier than i was before the band and it’s so depressing. considering the sleeve but scared of the same side effects of the band. how long did you have the band, did you regain all your weight after it and how long have you had the sleeve?
@@nicholasmburu1198 What were the side effects from the band that you are afraid of?
I can relate to every single side effect and I must say it's a blessing. I had mine 2yrs ago, lost 130lbs and have no regrets. Thanks for this video.
Hey how u been after surgery do u get acid reflux weight gain
Actually u got rid of every single proplem cuz of obesity in short u can say u get a new life .... so if these are sides effects then i want my new life ...
You are sooooooo positive without being annoying! You’r outlook and personality is +++! Congrats on your success! I’m 6 weeks down and already lost 48 pounds.... can’t wait to be in the 100’s! PS also congrats, you’re now a Dilf.... haha
Had last appt. today and started liquid phase before surgery. Scheduled for surgery next week..... keep me in your prayers and thank you.
moonpie98 how ya doing?
@@kmcd5951 how you doing now bro. ? It's been 8 months
Thank you for sharing your experience. I plan to get the surgery this new year.
Can you tell me how this went? Really interested
You deserve it
@patrickcuratola7874 how are you doing now? I hope your wife has realized how important this step was for you-and her. Stay strong!
Got mine done on the same day. Good luck to you.
lakisha battle-oldwine I watch so many videos about vsg I’m just getting myself ready for this I’m 260 goal 170/180
Happy Life if you follow the instructions from your surgeon and nutritionist, you will do just fine.
The stuff he’s complaining about? We all went through it.
Literally same experience
I see this man looks fantastic and healthy but I’m scared shitless he’s gonna tell me something HORRIBLE that will TERRIFY me!?!?!??”
I wish I watched this video FIRST!!!
I hope he reposts this vid with an alternate title just to see what it draws in! ♥️♥️♥️♥️☺️😍😉👍
@@artisanshrew How did your surgery go? How are you doing?
Thank you x
I feel the same exact way..
I hope you are having good results.
this is my plan. NOYB B
So happy for you, and great luck with everything!
Happy Surgaversary! Your commentary gave me so much realistic insight. I’m now one week post op and doing great. 17 pounds down!!!
vanessa wheeler How about a year checkup?
Thanks Scott. I'm booked in to get my sleeve done in 63 days in Australia. I've watched a lot of these types of vids but this was the best that I have seen. Your pre sleeve stats are very similar to mine and I related to every point you made. This has helped me immensely. Congratulations and thank you.
Now to watch all your other vids.
Keep up the great work!
This video literally brought tears to my eyes. Like others who’ve already commented, I saw this video and passed it up a few times because of the title, but I knew I needed to know everything I could before going forward with my choice to have a weight loss surgery done.
You are funny, endearing, informative, and adorable (Darth Vader impressions in bed XDD)
So far your video has been the ONLY video that mentioned the one thing that made me start my journey- my feet.
Pray for me and I will definitely pray for you 🙏❤️
Carolyn Campbell How was it?
Thank you for this video... my fiancé just had VSG done today and I’ve been feeling so scared and nervous because this is the first time I’ve ever seen him in a significant amount of pain but just seeing all the positive side effects of the surgery have helped me look forward to our future together... I really appreciate this video ☺️
Indigo If you don't mind me asking, how is your fiance doing? How are you both dealing with everything since surgery? My fiance is having VSG next month and I am a little worried about the pain and all the adjustments we will need to make. I just want to be as supportive as I can for him.
How was it?
My surgery is in June, 2019. I just started this process in December. I don’t know which procedure I’m having because I want to keep an open mind and choose, with the help of my surgeon, the one that is perfect for me. I loved watching your video, and hearing some of your tongue-n-cheek side effects. I am SO ready to experience them.
This is really honest and I appreciate these points mentioning out of a man's mouth! Hope that you are still well and enjoy your new life. :-)
I have been searching for people with negative things to say about this surgery. I have found a few but MOST are positives and it makes me more and More ready to move forward with my decision to do this. I love this video. Thanks.
I’m so looking forward to no plantar fasciitis and no more CPap. Thanks for sharing!
Best decision I have made for my health and family in my life. 2 years later... Not one regret.
Yours are the most useful videos I've found to date. I'm doing my research at this point. Thank you!!
Keep the videos coming!!
This is a great video man. I'm going in weds for my procedure. This video was very helpful. Change the title because it's misleading. You're delivering a great message here.

My surgery date is 9/19 and after watching this, my nervousness has diminished almost completely.
I'm down 125 since October. Things are great so far
Scott... thank you for sharing your experience with us all and in such a great way too... Great Video
Thank you! I am 7 months post-op and am still thrilled with these things. I wish I would have accepted my food addiction years ago (I am a recovered drug addict). Better now than never. :)
do you still have issues with trapped gas? I'm 6 days out
I had gas pains from surgery for about 4-5 days. My caregiver friend pounded on my back with the sides of her fits (like burping a baby) and GasX helped. It goes away, I promise! Walking little steps a LOT helps too. Best of luck. You got this! @@marissaford6010
I hesitated to watch your video, but then I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks!
Good luck for today Gregory!!
I’m three appointments away from having my surgery approval submitted. This video is extremely helpful
Intelligently and sensitivity told. Thank you from the UK X
Thank you!
How are you doing now-Dec 2023?
This is the best video I have seen thus far.
Thank you for making this video. I have my VSG surgery tomorrow and I've been worried. I clicked on this video looking for potential downsides. You've make my decision going forward that much easier.

So thank you for your honesty and your side effects I can certainly live with
I needed this video. I just had the surgery 10 days ago and this really cheered me up.. Hope you're doing well.
Congrats on your new journey may God continue to bless you! You look fabulous‼️🙂💕
This is one of the most detailed and best videos on VSG. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. Please do make more videos!
One of the best post-op experience videos I've seen. Thanks for sharing your journey! On my 2nd day post op so these 'experiential' videos are really helpful to prepare for similar situations I may encounter.
I really appreciate your honesty. Thanks.
Gooo Steve!!!
Congratulations and good luck on your journey! now that it's been a couple months, how much weight have you lost?
I thought, judging by the title, that this would really bad and so negative against vsg. But it was very positive!
Thanks for making the video.
I want to go through this surgery.
Dont right yourself of so much some people are nice because they are returning the same attitude as yours but i get what you are saying. I was the same as you and im only 6 months post op and my emotions are all over the place atm and you reminded me that a lot of work still has to be done and why. i can see well how deep your pain is when you talk about your previous self and relate well to it but if you survived that you will be unstoppable now Great video keep them up and congrats on your hard work.
watched from start to finish, really enjoyed your chat..
This video helped me make the decision to get RNY. Now I'm a week and a half post surgery, it's been tough so far, but this video has helped encourage me again. Thank you!
Such good advice! I'm 6 months post op and am down 75 pounds. You are so right about this being a tool. Keep going!
I am perusing my weight loss surgery. I have RA and in pain often, also have moderate sleep apnea. I just want my quality o life better, I want to enjoy life. I look forward to this journey.

Sir THANK YOU my surgery is in 2 months and i cant wait!
I did for me as well! Thank you sir! I have been on the fence.....more relieved now. A big thank you!
Interesting idea on the family... Pretty sure they would refuse, but It's worth a discussion. Thank you
One of the best side effects post that I have ever seen… Thanks… I am on the road to the start line!
One week post op here. It’s been really hard but this video helped me get calmer. Thank you for sharing your experiences!
How are you ? Was it worth it ?
How are you feeling @cruznoelia
I’m glad I watched this video. I had my first dr appt. yesterday.... I can honestly say that everything you have said, I as a man have experienced. My projected surgery date is going to be in May. Best and most informative video I have watched about the sleeve surgery...
Thanks again and God bless!!
Awesome Scott! I can relate to most of what you said about being obese and can’t wait to be able to look back at it like you are. Thanks for vlogging this.
Great vid! Im also 40 and been obese (350lbs) for the past 30 years..
I relate to your video 100 %
Than you.
This was very very informative. Im scheduled for next month and wanted to be aware of all the possible side effects. Everything you’ve said are things I’m willing to accept as side effects. Thank you so much for sharing your truth.
I'm so glad I found this video. I have my op in 3 weeks. Thank you for sharing your experience so broadly. 😊
Thanks for sharing this...this is really motivational for me. I have my surgery January 28th 2019. I'm nervous but ready. My main concern is losing too much
How r u doing now dear
DarknLuvly G I just had mine on may6th and I’m also concerned about losing too much! I thought I was the only person that felt like that! Since you had the surgery over a year ago, have you lost too much? How much did you lose in the first few weeks? I’ve lost like 22 pounds, should I have lost more?
I loved this video, thank you so much for sharing xx
Hello Scott from NYC. Thank you for sharing all this information. I just got the sleeve on Monday, and already feel much of what you state in the video. I am feeling very positive. I wish to thank you for your candidness in covering these key points, it has been really helpful to me and I find it very supportive tool to listen to you. You are a star! Cheers, Dave.
Thanks Dave,
Congratulations, and good luck on the journey! :)
Great video today I'm 6 weeks post Op 😁 And I feel wonderful already 🙏 Thank you for sharing
Pete how much did you lose in the first 6 weeks?
Wonderful talk. Needed to hear this stuff. Thank you.
I’m 68, thirty years obese, and have decided my path. I want to take a rickshaw ride next time I visit Japan. I want to cried the rides. I want to walk fast.
I have yet to get the date, but very soon
Your video just about touched on every item that has flashed through my head.
I’m so very glad you have achieved so much to get this far.
Thank you so much for a frank and honest talk. One more step on my journey. 🙏🇦🇺🙏
