Chaos Field - Why simultap button inputs are a plague on humanity

  • Basically, fuck arcade hobo controls with not enough buttons to do anything interesting. And input buffers are a footgun.
For context, this is from a full run that had a pretty good chance at 400mil, without any accidental deaths all the way to 5-2, and a good 5-1 exit with enough resources to pull off a 9999 combo kill.
And immediately there's this glitched lock-on laser that comes out of the first field switch, costing me one meta stock that ends up screwing me later. I never pressed the lock-on laser button, but because of the arcade controls and the glitchy simultaps, pressing sword button during the a field switch may sometimes trigger a lock-on laser because of terrible input buffers. And despite having dedicated buttons for everything, the ports themselves did not remove the simultap input (a similar issue exists in Shiki 3)
And the combo dies in 5-3 because I pressed the Wing Layer button while I had no meta left which specifically is the case because of that simultap nonsense. And by the time I realize it and press again it's too late. Urgh.
To be fair, I guess there was stuff I could have done to work around it : taking my first hit earlier in 5-3 to get the gauge back earlier even if it's less safe, paying more attention to the meta gauge when invincible after taking hits to autocollect asap, etc. It's more a lesson for next time I guess.
But without that simultap nonsense I'd have probably gotten 400mil already anyways. Oh well.
