NTA, but did Grandpa not leave anything for his children? If OP’s parents are saying “family helps family” and they got something from Grandpa’s estate then surely they can help out their younger son
NTA, it was your grandpa's present to you and only you, you can borrow it, if they would return it, with a legal document, but they are asking for too much. NTA
I love how they say grandpa would have wanted him to have it. Lol. They are in this little fight because Grandpa did NOT want him to have it. He would have willed it to him if he had.
NTA. There's a saying I hold to: "you have to apply your own oxygen mask before assisting others". It sounds like you've done a very good thing, and karma has struck you with the chance to make things better for yourself. Meanwhile, it sounds like your brother has done the opposite by taking on debt he couldn't handle alongside a child. What was he going to do if you hadn't gotten that inheritance? And since you offered to help him in other ways, why isn't he taking them? If it's selfish, be selfish, I feel. You have already proven to be a supportive person. Now it's time to take care of yourself, and put that money where you see fit. You shouldn't be lifeline to another person - especially somebody who hasn't offered you the same kindness in return (i.e. paying YOU back when his loans are taken care). And at the end of the day, I feel that your grandfather gave YOU the money for a reason. If he wanted it to go to your brother, he would've written that in the will.
NTA. Don't let anybody guilt trip you

Sounds like he was asking me for a gift anyway not alone. Unbelievable entitlement

Exactly!
