We painted 5 houses last year with garages and the x5 still runs like a new one. You must keep it cleaned and well maintained.
Which other sprayers were you considering? I was thinking about the Titan but think I'll go for the X5.
Got a X5 late last year from you guys, best investment I’ve made saves on a lot of time and it gives an awesome finish.

I bought one to prime my new build. I was using Kilz PVA primer but You will need to buy the 517 spray tip.
I'm very pleased with the unit.

So I am a novice and want to paint my 2 story house 2500 SF. I was going to do a side at a time not all at once of course. Would the x5 be efficient?
I am thinking of starting a small painting business. I will be focusing on painting mostly the exterior of homes. Garage doors, window frames, soffits, fascia etc. i would be doing 5 to 10 jobs a month. The job could be as small as just a garage door or as big as all windows, doors, fascia, soffits of a home. Which graco machines would be ideal?
Can you spray 2 pack paint with an airless sprayer?
Can I use a DTM paint in this unit?
Can the x5 spray clear coats like polyurethane and polycrylic?
So how long will a x5 last as long as it’s taken cared of and use it on occasion for small to medium jobs

Does this over spray , i mean when i see fee videos its doesn’t look like it but as for what i know from other spray paint experience it does over spray so high that the surrounding get paint thin layer too
Majority of the time I'm buying a quarter gallon of paint for my jobs (cabinet doors and some panels). Can the x5 be used with a quarter of paint or does it have to be in a gallon?

Yes. I use the lesser Graco VSP with both Kilz/Zinssee primer with no issues

I plan to purchase a sprayer to paint inside entire house. 3 bedrooms large living and dining & 2 bathrooms... would I be able to do this project in one day with the x5 magnum... that's the one I'm considering. Thanks for your help! 😀
Hey Cherie, thanks for the great question! The x5 would be perfect for your renovation project. There is probably a couple of days work ahead just with the prep work required and then undercoats and top coats. But the actually spraying part wont take you long at all.

I have the entry level graco paint sprayer plus I am painting a 3 bed room 2 bath room house + garage + 2 veranda’s
Can't the X7 spray more per minute and the X7 can use a .017 tip max instead of a .015. On top of that can't the X7 handle a longer hose?
X5 won’t paint interior walls ceilings trim of a whole home interior?
I am planning to spray my unfinished basement ceiling (about 1900 sqft), which model should I get (X5 or X7)? I would not push to finish the job ASAP, maybe in a week or so.Thanks
X5 or X7 will be sufficient! It’s moreso your preference in the stand, or cart configuration of the units. The X7 is pretty handy and would be our recommendation!
My question is if you spray more than 125 gallons in a year do you have to replace a certain part after that amount of sprayed or do you have to do a certain service after that mount is sprayed? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Great questions, thanks for the comment!
The limit is set to ensure that the motor and pump components are operating within their safe limits. If you were to spray more than the limit the machine might be fine, however, it does increase your risk of having issues and burning the motor out.
There isn't really a service procedure for this, i'd just recommend flushing the machine thoroughly between jobs, using pump armour and if you have any issues, getting the unit serviced.

I have the exact question because I wanna start spraying homes part time but 3.9 gallons of paint isn’t a lot.
@@ubernsealey1842 I'd recommend looking at Graco's professional contractor range for this type of application. Anything from the Graco 190 to the Graco 495 should be plenty for daily interior/exterior painting.
Thats funny, i was wondering the same thing because the hose fits on a 5gallon bucket. I haven't seen 3.9gallon paint buckets. We have ran it for entire house about 5-10gallon and it work fine as long as we take breaks between buckets so it does not overheat. This is probably why we need to go buy another one. Lol
Tconsumer grade models wear out after a certain amount of gallons. Not sure what this one is rated at but similar units have a life of 175 to 250 gallons before they're worn out.
If one was too use lacquer and lacquer thinner with this machine, would it not cause any problems ? Or is it made for these types of materials?
Lacquers are OK to spray as long as the recommended thinner isn't too aggressive for the pump. If you're unsure, please let us know the exact lacquer you're wishing to spray and we can look into this for you!
What about latex roof coating. It's basically just wster based latex paint
I was wondering if the unit has to be serviced can I do it myself or do I have to pay you guys to do it and what would happen if I don't buy it from use if I buy it from Lowe's and how much is your Magnum X5

when you say its good for 10-15 liter a day and 475 liter a years, what you mean ? if you go 500 liter in a years the pump will break ? what if you do lets day 550 liters in a years and you dont use it for 2 years ? is it good to paint kitchen cabinet and trim/molding in room ?
I'm asking cause Iwe are buying a house soon. For now ill be doing 2 room in the basement, all trim and windows casing, couple door, and probably the kitchen cabinet. I dont mind rolling the others walls of the house.

I would recommend our Magnum ProX17 or ProX19 for your application, given the surface area you're wanting to cover. The pump and motor are a tad larger and more durable!
What sprayer is good for solvent based paint?
Saw your question, these units have brush motors which can create a spark which in the worst conditions which would be excessive overspray of a volatile material indoors near the unit could cause a flash fire or explosion💣Look for a brushless motor unit, probably in the $1100-$1300 range. This would be a unit that would handle larger production and last for years...
What one would be good to spray a 20foot shipping container?
Not this little guy! If you're looking to spray a solvent based paint, I highly recommend our Graco Merkur ES 30:1 - this is an air-driven, airless sprayer. I definitely recommend air driven motors versus electric motors for solvent based paints, as you do not run the risk of spark (and serious injury). They are a tad more expensive, and do require a sizeable air compressor to operate (30CFM), but is the correct equipment to use for this application!
When you say "Liters per day" what's the limitation there? is it the duty cycle due to heat?

@@manuelsalgado8510 I believe I sort of found the answer. these units have a "lifetime" of a specific number of gallons before they either fail or otherwise need a rebuild. and they just divide that total by number of days.

No, Thats the just telling you it might not last much more than that if you don't take care of the machine, But you can replace the pump for a couple hundred bucks on this painter but you can't on the project plus. Also, you can paint exterior paint with this machine as long as it's water based,
Can I still do small jobs with this sprayer ? I have small and bigger projects so idk witch one to buy
Absolutely, you can do smaller jobs with any Graco airless sprayer across the entire range. Depending on how much your bigger projects are, I would maybe look at the Magnum ProX17 or ProX19 for more power and capabilities.
Can I spray my concrete tile roof with this?
Unfortunately not! If you're planning on spraying a roofing membrane, which is a lot more viscous than standard exterior acrylic paints, the motor and pump are too small on the X5. You will be needing to hire a larger airless sprayer, at minimum the Graco Ultra Max II 490PC. Please let me know if you have any questions!

@@ZER0o10 The X5 will definitely handle a single story exterior, if you're using a water-based exterior acrylic paint. If you have any doubts, I would also consider the ProX17 as an option. However we have many customers who have sprayed smaller homes just fine.
I heard in every video each year it has a certain gallons limit and all , the question is keep bothering me if I reach the certain limit when happens after does machine resets next year or it need oil change what exactly going to happen please answer me any one who know in little detail please 🙏🏼
Purely a guide - don't be too stressed following this to the letter! As long as you're not overusing the machine, you should be fine year on year.
Per year , that mean it wears out after that time?
Not necessarily, it's more-so a guide to help you find the sprayer that will be right for you! It takes into account stress on the motor and pump, given the usage.
What does it mean maximum litres per year?
Purely a guide - it’s an approximate amount of litres pumped/sprayed throughout the year to give you an indication of the model is right for you!

Thanks for the comment! The main issue with this comes from spraying solvent-based materials. Either in the paint or the thinner that is needed for cleaning and thinning the paint. The machines all have brushed electric motors, meaning spraying flammable liquids can be dangerous, mainly in enclosed areas.
If you're looking at decking-oils, Cabot's do a really good water-based decking oil.

Hey Scott, not entirely! The 'maximum' usage is a guide for general pump-wear, and ensuring that the machine isn't being overused. This should give you a solid idea if the machine is a suitable size for the amount of work you've lined up! Keep in mind, these are a DIY unit, and if more product is being used, you may need to be using a professional machine.
@@GOIndustrial I purchased an x5. I'm just trying to wrap my head around the statements made about use. I understand I shouldn't go nuts and start painting an entire house and everything in site. But if I use it next week to stain my deck with 3.5 gallons and then next year paint 4 interior rooms and a basement. IM looking for a lifetime purchase or at least something I can rebuild a pump and continue to maintain.
@@scottyach8766 it's mainly in respect to duty cycle - don't slam the machine for 5-6 hours straight with 10 drums of material for example. It'll be capable for those jobs you've mentioned - I'd definitely pick up some FFLP (fine finish low pressure) tips to ensure you're running the pump at the lowest pressure possible. You'll be able to rebuild the inlet and outlet valves no problems, the pump however is one component, and is costly to replace. In saying that, a lot of our customers are getting an easy 4-5 years+ use, and decent use for that matter, until we hit any servicing issues!
@@GOIndustrial see that makes sense to me however I would still think when purchasing a product it should be rebuildable at given service intervals or if its starting to fail. If I take care of my product and use it over a 5-6 yr period and as Parts fail I would assume parts would be available for rebuild or replacement at a cost cheaper then buying a new unit. And that is how it is being projected. I have seen these machines being sold to people used that obviously look as though they were used hard. Dude buys it thinks he got a deal but yet its worn out. I would think serviceable parts should be available or ar least Dealer repair or rebuild at a less cost then new. my opinion right or wrong
I bought one and brought it back the same day. I was not too fond of it. I sprayed a tiny ceiling, cleaned it thoroughly, and had lunch. Less than an hour later, I primed the water and paint. I sprayed the gun and nothing would come out of the tip. I reversed the tip to unclog it and nothing came out. I cleaned it up and brought it back. No thanks. Rollers work without clogging.................

why does no one make a paint sprayer that can do both kinds of paint and is made good like the old ones. either way you gotta clean them and a metal unit is easier and you can thin your paint and get more money out of it if you want

Thank you for your comment. We've said it time and time again, this is a guide for daily spraying. It will not shut down; it will not fail if you exceed the daily estimated use. It is a guideline. If you are a painting contractor spraying 1,000's of litres per year, the X5 isn't the unit for you. Hope that clears it up!
