    I’ve used the X5 to paint my separate 3 car garage, inside and exterior and barn. About 25 gallons . The machine is awesome. Any problems you have will be typically operator error. A couple points.
    1. Keep the pressure at the spot on the dial where the yellow sticker just starts to get fat. Turning it all the way up is 3000 PSI per the manual. You typically want 1800-2200 range for latex paints . Do the cardboard spray pattern test.
    2. Slow down, take your time and think. You can put the gun with the tip and guard still attached in a bucket of water overnight or 2 for that matter and continue the next day when you are fresh. Note: he is in Alaska. Don’t leave paint in the machine/line in freezing conditions.
    3. Extensions get hand tight at the orange guard and tip and snugged with a wrench at the gun.......snugged....not battleship tight.
    4. Buy a hose whip for the gun. It allows for more flexibility in tight spaces . When that line is loaded with paint you will get recoil when you trigger it , especially if you are one handed on a ladder etc.
    5. Buy a 3m hand masker with 9” paper . You can thank me later.
    6. Clean up: I take the line off the machine after running H2O through it and blow off all the parts and line with air. Then re-attach line and put the pump lube in . ....good luck .

      Thanks for the tips. Hose whip for me before painting the outside of my shop this spring. Still not warm enough yet!

    great video and many thanks that you made it. Very clear with both specific shots and audio. Instructions were complete but succinct. (appreciate your work after listening for 18 minutes of folks running on and on what you impart in 30 seconds). Good job

    As a semi-experienced DIY-er myself, I really appreciated your humility and honesty - I think you might be a little hard on yourself. You didn't mention the priming button in the setup section, did I miss it? Also I really appreciated the tips at the end, those were very helpful. Thank you🎉

    Good video Sir, Thanks. Sharing my first use lessons. The gun handle tube leaked initially, ensure it is twisted snug, especially after installing a hose. Also when cleaning up, the gasket/metal semi-circle behind the spray tip can fall out of the guard, and the bottom of the spray tip is shaped to reinsert it.

      You bet, I am excited about using it this spring to paint the outside of my shop. Still a couple feet of snow on the ground here though.

      @@AlaskaWorkshop forget that. We just get a dusting of snow twice a decade and that's enough for me.

    Question - can i let the paint and machine sit in the shade with a tarp over it overnight without cleaning so i can finish early the following morning. There is no such thing as a dumb question. I havent used this X5 yet but I'm hopeful not to clean it every night if i dont have to. Thank you.

      I did it once, left the gun and tip in a bucket of water overnight and it was not a problem. Not sure about leaving it outside though, it was in my shop which I keep cool.

      Professional painter here, I've left paint in my sprayer longer than I'd care to admit😅 2 weeks. The important thing to note here is that you keep your pickup submerged and take your tip and guard off and put them in water. Otherwise the paint will dry into the top causing you issues next time you spray. I wrap the end of the gun in masking tape. I would not do this on a hot day or high humidity. At least cover it in plastic. Try to keep from submerging your gun in water as it can ruin the seals and packing in the gun.

    Don’t spray like your watering the grass, you need to keep a consistent distance from the gun to the wall.

    All things considered, was it worth it to use the airless sprayer as opposed to painting with roller and brush?

    • @AlaskaWorkshop
      @AlaskaWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No.....except I used it on a lot of outdoor projects that are a lot harder to paint with a roller. For a flat, sheetrocked wall a roller and brush would be easy.

    When you're applying the paint does the drain tube go into the paint bucket or do you leave it in the waste bucket the whole time?

    • @AlaskaWorkshop
      @AlaskaWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Both hoses are in the paint bucket while spraying. Drain tube is not submerged but clipped onto the paint tube.

    When spraying indoors ALWAYS wear a respirator or particle mask. He should know better. Look at the fog of over-spray in the room and how paint is covering everything, including him and the sprayer. What a mess!

      I agree

      I did my entire house, inside... and wow... I wasnt ready for the amount of overspray. In our maser bedroom, masked off the floor from trim down with plastic on trim, then drop cloths on floor. Used a scaffold as we have cathedral ceilings. I got done with the room and was happy but walked over to the instruction card as it was on the floor. Picked it up and wow.. drop cloth under was grey but everywhere else was eggshell !!!!! sooo much overspray and at that time, i realized, my cell phone was in the box window!!!! whoops! cell was covered! hah...
      I do love this thing but yeah I need to learn how to prevent so much overspray or if this machine just does that.
      I also took every door off in the house, removed all hardware and primed/painted each one outside and the outcome was superb!
      I love the finish of the paint sprayers vs roller...

    Why are you reading instructions? Men aren't supposed to read instructions. Lol.

    • @AlaskaWorkshop
      @AlaskaWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ha, you are so right. Most times I throw the instructions go straight into the trash. This thing is different, there is a reason they include a laminated instruction sheet with it.
