      Hello and thanks for watching. I am glad you found my videos useful. It is usually the Pharmacist Council in your home country that writes the letter of good standing and they send it directly to GPHC so you should not bother with the content because I am sure they know what to write. The GPHC has some specific information that they require on the letter of good standing and this can be found on their website (on the OSPAP guide/FAQ and application form).

    thanks for this Insightful video! I want to ask about the acceptance rate for OSPAP in uk universities if approved by GPHC ?

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. I am not sure what the acceptance rate is and I believe the GPHC and the universities alone will have that information. From experience, I know more than a handful of people who have done the OSPAP programme from various countries and I have never heard of anyone rejected by any university especially after the GPHC approval because once the GPHC approves you, it means you have met several requirements. Of course, some universities usually have other requirements but I think once you go on their website and meet these requirements, it would be difficult for them to reject you. I know Brighton usually makes students pass their Calculation test prior to an unconditional offer (I don't know if they still do it) and if you don't pass this calculation test, they won't provide an unconditional offer. Generally, I think once you meet the GPHC and the universities' requirements, it would be a straightforward process. Good luck.

      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and thanks for your questions. I don't think they particularly look at the grade (I mean the GPHC when it comes to approving your application to apply to the universities for OSPAP). As far as you are a registered pharmacist in your country and meet all the other requirements, then that should be fine. I know some universities may require a certain grade so you may want to check the universities to see what their other requirements are.

    I’m so grateful that I came across your channel, it’s really really helpful!! Thank you so much. I have a question here:
    The website of GphC says “All courses starting in 2023 and 2024 are already oversubscribed, due to high demand and applications carried over from last year. This means that you are unlikely to be able to find a place to study during this time.” Does this mean I don’t have the opportunity to study ospap this and also the next September?😢 when should I submit my documents to them? Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much.

      You are welcome. If you need a UK student visa for the OSPAP, you are better off selecting the M.Sc version as you are able to switch (in country) to either a post study visa (also known as Graduate visa) or Tier 2 visa whereas the Diploma does not allow you do this. I am not sure about PHD prospects. Good luck.

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. GPHC requires that your name should appear the same way (word for word and letter for letter). On the GPHC OSPAP application form which I linked to in the description box, there is a section (section c; page 27&28) that tells you what to do if there's a discrepancy in your name. I think it involves a statutory declaration and involving a solicitor. Hope this helps.

    Does OET test acceptable for OSPAP? I found only IELTS but GPhC also accepts OET test which I found in their website but not under OSPAP.
    Also, Is there any specific format for the letter that I need to get from the my country’s council?

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe GPHC released a statement on their website stating that they are accepting OET and IELTS for OSPAP and the schools who are offering OSPAP are accepting OET as well but always best to email the schools to make sure they are accepting it. With regards to the letter of good standing, I believe your country's council should have done it before for others so they will be aware of the format. If in doubt, check the GPHC website on OSPAP or the OSPAP application form as it gives a broad idea of what the letter should contain. Good luck!

If so, I will recommend getting in touch with GPHC and they will provide a clear direction on what you need to do. If you are not licensed to work in the EEA country as a pharmacist, I am afraid you may need to do the OSPAP. To clear any doubts, I strongly recommend getting in touch with the GPHC.

      1. Yes, you still need both. I was already living here in the UK for 5 years before I commenced OSPAP.
      2. All schools have different costs. You need to check their websites for their current fees. Check University of Brighton, University of Hertfordshire, Aston University Birmingham and University of Sunderland
      3. Yes, you can use a UK solicitor.
      Good luck

    What if you are not able to provide the letter of good standing because you are a fresh graduate? Will GPhC still consider it

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. I believe the letter of good standing is an essential requirement for the GPHC adjudication. If you are a fresh graduate but eligible to register (even though you are not yet registered), I believe your country's pharmaceutical coiuncil should be able to provide a letter to that effect. Other than that, it may be difficult. I think you may want to enquire from GPHC if you are still unable to obtain a letter of good standing. I hope this helps.

    I went through the GPhc website and it seems you don't have to be currently registered in your country before you can apply for OSPAP. Pls could you confirm if I'm right?
    I wanna be certain because I'm currently on provisional registration in Nigeria( I haven't done the 1yr internship yet) and i'm not sure if PCN can provide a letter of good standing if I haven't been fully registered. Do you think they can? If not, can my certificate of provisional registration be accepted by Gphc as a proof that I am not currently registered? Thank you

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiya, I am glad you enjoyed the video. I looked at the application form again and there is a section (the letter of good standing section; I have linked the form in the description box above) which says if you are not registered or practising yet, the pharmacist council may still provide the letter of good standing provided they confirm you are eligible to register. It may be best to contact PCN; I am sure they have come across similar cases. I hope you are able to sort that out. Good luck.

      Hello and thanks for watching. I am glad you enjoyed my videos. OSPAP is the name of the course that is part of the 2 year (and 3 step process) of becoming a UK pharmacist. GPHC is the UK pharmacy regulation body. I am not sure if you need the English exam or not. The best thing will be to contact the GPHC for this as well as questions on how to become a UK pharmacist since you are from a European country. I know in the past, people did not have to do OSPAP if their pharmacy degree was from an EEA country.

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi and thanks for watching. There are various criteria that can determine if you can work in the UK (any job at all). If you have a Master Degree from an EU country, you may work in the UK (not as a Pharmacist) provided you meet other immigration rules and visa requirements . If you want to work in the UK as a Pharmacist and you don't have a pharmacy degree from the UK, you will have to complete the OSPAP route which includes OSPAP, Pre-Reg and passing the final exam.

    I have a couple of questions.
    1. Can an employer be used as a reference for OSPAP? If yes would that be categorizes under academic or employment reference.
    2. Can I submit all the documents required of me to GPHC while I prepare for and write my IELTS. Then have the result sent to them by adding GPHC address during IELTS.
    3. Would I need to submit my permanent license alongside original degree certificate or just my original degree Certificate?
    4. After the one year OSPAP MSC programme are we given an MSC certificate?

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and glad you found it useful.
      1. Yes an employer can be used as a reference and that would be classed as employment reference.
      2. I have heard that GPHC only open a file for you once they have received a passed IELTS result from you and it makes sense unless they will be inundated with so many documents. I think it is best to start gathering the documents and pass your IELTS. That way, once your results are in, you can send your documents.
      3. I think you need your original degree certificate. I don’t recall them requesting for a license rather they request for a letter of good standing which is issued by your pharmacist council in the UK and send directly by them to GPHC.
      4. I believe so but I am not sure an M.Sc OSPAP is valid anywhere else apart from UK.

      Thanks for the question. I will have to do some research but I do know that you have to choose the M.Sc version for the OSPAP which will enable you switch your student visa to either a Tier 2 or a Post Study Work visa (when it becomes available sometime this year or next year). I will recommend checking the Gov.UK website and search for Tier 2 visa requirements or watch some of my videos on the OSPAP playlist e.g FAQ video and Student Visa video for some useful links. I hope this is helpful..

    I schooled in Nigeria but moved to Ghana and took their licensing exam to be licensed here, my question is since I didn’t write the licensing exam in Nigeria(I am not registered in Nigeria as a pharmacist but in ghana), Do I still get my letter of good standing from the council in Nigeria since that’s where I schooled

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s interesting. I believe you will need the letter of good standing from Nigeria’s PCN because that’s where you obtained your pharmacy degree. You can also submit (in addition) the Ghanian one because I believe there’s a section of the form (do double check though) that may ask if you are also licensed as a pharmacist elsewhere. The best way to clarify might be to email the GPHC international applications. Good luck!

    Hi..I have a question for you…for an international student who arrives the UK on student visa, when is the course said to have completed, thereby qualifying to the recently reintroduced Post Study Work Visa.m? is it after the one year, after completing the course and sitting the exam or is it after the year long pre-registration training that follows it? Or in other words, does an international student start their internship or the pre-registration training on the post study work visa or on the student visa which might have been issued as part of the course? Or in other words, is the pre-registration training part of the initial course term time, so that the candidate applies to the Post Study Work visa after the completion of the 1 year’s training and thereby the registration or does the candidate have to apply for the post study visa, so that they can start their internship ?

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, as an international student with a student visa, your student visa expires at the end of the actual OSPAP course which is approximately one year (M.Sc version) and you will be eligible for the post study work visa (PSW) once you have completed and passed the OSPAP. You then have a choice of using the PSW (which is usually 2 years) to complete the pre-reg training year and write the final GPHC exam and then you can work for an employer with the 2nd year or you can skip the PSW abd apply for a work visa after the OSPAP which can be up to 1-3 years depending on which visa you apply for. The 2nd option requires different rules and of course for the employer to sponsor you whilst you don't need a sponsor for the PSW. So, No the pre-reg training is not part of the OSPAP course so your student visa only covers the course. The candidate has to apply for PSW or another working visa to enable them commence pre-reg and write the final exams. Hope this makes sense.

      @@ajalani5301 Hi and thanks foor your comment. It is really hard to say but I believe most OSPAP students do end up getting a place for their pre-reg and move onto find jobs as UK pharmacist. It may not be in the city you want but it is very possible and many people including myself have crossed this hurdle so you should be fine. I do understand the uncertainties especially with changes to visa but the advantage in the coming years is that they are bringing back a post study work visa which is for two years so you would have ample time to get a job without having the company sponsor your visa (at least during the period of your post study work visa). The Oriel system is mainly for hospital pre-reg training spots and som community and GP practice but there are many community pharmacies that are not on the Oriel system who need pre-regs. • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello and thanks for watching. I think it depends on what you want to achieve and your personal circumstances. If you are looking to relocate to the UK and live here and work as a pharmacist, then your best option is the OSPAP. Studying a different M.Sc programme has its advantages but will not avail you the opportunity to become a UK pharmacist as the only way to do that is via OSPAP regardless of the M.Sc you undertake. You can use your student visa to bring your dependants but I am guessing you are okay with the costs. It can be quite expensive and unless you have family in the UK or help to keep an eye on your kids, it can be challenging. If your kids are all above 5 then that may be easier but if any are under 5, you would have to pay for childcare costs and they could be quite steep depending on where you live. Are you coming with your partner/hubby? If so, looking after 4 kids may be manageable. It is not an easy decision to make but best to explore all angles. Good luck!!

      Hello and thanks for your message. The inclusion of pharmacists in the shortage occupation list only just makes it easier for employers to employ you once you become a UK Pharmacist. The only way to become a UK Pharmacist if you obtained your pharmacy degree from a Non-EEA country is to complete the OSPAP programme, complete the Pre-reg and pass the GPHC registration exam. The best option will be to find the job and then discuss further with the employers to see what specifications they are after. I hope that's useful and good luck.

      @Fashstyleliv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think any course is easy but if you want a straightforward and easy way to work as a pharmacist in the UK, then OSPAP is the way. I am not sure about job prospects when you complete a Clinical Pharmacy Practice course. The Clinical Pharmacy M.Sc does not allow you to practice as a pharmacist in the UK; the only way to work as a pharmacist in the UK is through OSPAP.

      Hello and thanks for watching. I am afraid I am not an expert when it comes to the undergrad pharmacy programme in UK (MPharm). With regards to the course to choose in the university, it should be MPharm but that’s about all that I know of the course. Perhaps ask the universities directly for guidance. Good luck

    My last question sister what is the passing score in msc ospap out 180 credit???

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all differs depending on the module and university. It may be more useful to check the individual university website for pass marks. In my university (Brighton), the pass mark for some modules was at least 50% and some modules were higher (one was 70%) so it all depends. They also required a certain percentage for attendance. It is all different for various universities.

      Yes they mainly require original documents and they would return your degree certificate back. You should check their website as there are some documents that you need to send and some that need to be sent directly from the organisation to GPHC

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. I believe so but I guess it would all depend on the school. If GPHC has already provided an approval to you then it is valid for 2 years but after the two years, you have to start from the scratch including paying the GPHC fee all over again and obtaining some documents again such as Letter of Good Standing, rewriting and passing IELTS/OET (I think they are both valid for 2 years), etc.

    Hello, maam. Hope you are okay. I have a doubt on my mind. I have completed bachelor of Pharmacy from Bangladesh. I'm a registerd pharmacist there. But i don't have any experience. Currently, I am doing MSC in applied public health in UK. Course was 2 years. It will finish this April. I have visa till August. Can i apply for OSPAP diploma course? Will they provide visa to me for course? How does it work actually? Or i have to take PSW for the course?. Looking forward to your answer.

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and thanks for watching. I think it all depends on you. You can apply for either an extension of a student visa (you can check the go uk website) or you can apply for PSW and complete OSPAP but again you need to check the rules to make sure you are not breaching any immigration rules. It all depends on your finances. If finances were not an issue, I would say extend your student visa to cover OSPAP (choose the M.Sc to be on the safe side so you can apply for PSW afterwards. Some people say you can get PSW with OSPAP Diploma but I doubt that. Only time will tell). After the OSPAP, you get the PSW to cover pre-reg and one extra year when you become a registered UK pharmacist before moving to the skilled worker visa. Or after OSPAP, you could switch to a skilled worker visa if you get a sponsor. Good luck.

    Ospap msc course is 180 credit if students unable to get this 180 credit then student can not get the ( psw)???

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, if a student fails the ospap, they can’t get the psw or do pre-reg. They can repeat the module they failed or resit an exam. In some cases, depending on how badly they failed, they may not have the option of repeating or resitting. It still causes a lot of delay which is why it is very important to prepare well and work hard.

      You need to complete and pass OSPAP, Pre-reg and the final assessment exam so you can become a UK pharmacist. Once you becoome a UK pharmacist, you can apply for a job in a hospital to help you prepare as a clinical pharmacist.

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and thanks for your message. You will have to complete the pharmacy technician training with a community pharmacy or hospital that would be prepared to employ and supervise you. You also need to register with the GPHC. You can check their website as they do have information on how to achieve this. The process is less difficult than OSPAP but may not pay as well as a pharmacist.

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, if you already have IELTS which is still within the 2 years limit, I believe they will accept it but always double check. If you don't have IELTS at all, I am afraid you still have to write it even if you have an M.Sc from the UK. There is a list of exemptions from IELTS on the GPHC website which you can check out to see if you meet the criteria. GPHC is also accepting OET so that may be another option. Good luck.

I don’t know entirely what the GPHC look at but if you are already qualified as a pharmacist in your country and your university’s degree is comparable to UK standards and you meet other criteria that GPHC ask for, I don’t think you will be rejected. It is worth trying or you can get in touch with GPHC and ask. They do reply to emails. Good luck!!

    If I do b pharm in India and after if I complete m pharm in uk in any University . Will I get licence as pharmacist or else I have to do ospap again

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      M.Pharm in the UK is about 4 years or so. I am not sure how long it will take if you already have a B.Pharm from India and want to commence M.Pharm in the UK. If you do complete a UK Mpharm, you don’t need to do OSPAP however I do believe the OSPAP will take a shorter time than Mpharm. After an MPharm, you still have to complete pre-reg and write the final GPHC exam before you are licensed as a UK pharmacist.

    If academic gap is more than 6 years am I not eligible for ospap?

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and thanks for watching. As far as I know it should not be a problem but it is always best to find out from the GPHC in case they have changed anything recently. I think some universities who offer OSPAP would like to see evidence of continous practice if you have an academic gap so, for example, if you graduated 6 years ago or more but you have been working as a pharmacist all through those years, then it should be fine. I hope this makes sense.

    Hi pharm, thank you for this insightful video. Please, you made mention that Gphc might not approve an application because they might feel the candidate is not eligible in some instances.
    Taking cognizance of that, I wanted to ask, that does the duration of years practicing as a pharmacist post internship in the candidate’s home country matter in the deliberations ?
    In other words, can a candidate who just finished internship and has obtained his permanent license in his home country apply to Gphc and not get rejected ? And what are the things that can cause a reject for a candidate ?
    Thank you.

    • @Fashstyleliv
      @Fashstyleliv  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hello and thanks for your message. No one really knows the criteria that GPHC use but I believe they compare that the university you obtained your pharmacy degree is comparable to the UK standard. Don’t focus on them rejecting you; be positive and submit all the required docs and I am sure you will be approved God willing. Good luck.
