I know some of you will not agree with me... well... I tested it many times, and it works for me and many other artists in the art industry. The main point is to avoid strangers who are not interested in your work and to populate your mailing list - which is critical in our business! Please let me know if you have any questions. I have a lot of people asking me to move the episodes to a private site... well, I will try to keep it open to the public as long as I can!
I sold 2 paintings from business cards. One from a plein air visitor, one from a friend who wanted my information. I always include them tucked in the back of my paintings.
Interesting points from an experienced professional artist! Would you put your social media accounts, or website, or in your case, youtube channel on a BC? After years of being asked to give my information to join this or that site, I'm weary of giving out my personal information to anyone before it's absolutely necessary, but I may be interested enough to check somebody's work anonymously online. In this way there is a small chance I'll make a purchase eventually. Do you think having a BC for this purpose will make you seem less professional or cheapens your image as a serious artist in the eyes of the high potential customers?
As I mentioned in the video, I would not give any information unless I’m getting some information in return/exchange. The main point to test if collector is serious, and after that collect information to build your mailing list. Social media is ok to share ONLY if you are using it correctly, and we will talk about it later (I’m working on the episode about how to use sm)
