I hope you guys will enjoy this video. I respect Charlie a lot due to his views on Plein air movement, but mostly for his philosophical approach to painting. He is not just a painter simply rendering what he sees, but transforming his views of this world on the canvas his way. Enjoy!
A fine video about a Reasonably Fine Artist. Thanks to both Vlad and Charlie. The first time I laid eyes on a Hunter image my jaw dropped in awe. How can one interpret the dance between the natural and built environments so exquisitely? My journey in art is to explore the intersection of watercolour and mixed media in plein air. Charlie has me thinking; yes, I carry my sketchbook and mark-making tools wherever I go while seeking my unique voice that Charlie expounds.
One of the best discourses on the excitement and personal satisfaction of plein air painting. Charlie has obviously thought a lot about why paint, and why paint plein air. EXCELLENT! Also, his commitment to sketching is outstanding. We all should do more sketching. Thanks Vlad for sitting Charlie down at Plein Air Easton and giving Charlie the opportunity to talk about his personal vision.
This clearly was not written by Studio Cat Corduroy. If Corduroy had written it, it would have read: "I think Charlie Hunter is one of the most disappointing artists painting today. I never stop being mildly annoyed by almost everything he does." But I thank you, Barbara. It is appreciated.
Vlad, this might be your best video yet, and not just because I love Charlie's work, ideology, innovative technique and outlook. Thanks for making this. Keep up the good work, both of you!
@@CharlieHunterArt whats the advantage? Drying time? I've never tried them. I have to read up on the process. Oil, water, I love oils, but also love the speed of acrylic. Its one or the other for canvas...( that I've been aware of)
You are such a stickler, Patrick. It was raining that day, and Grog and Dub, the event organizers, said it would still count as plein air if Og painted inside the cave.

I think Charlie Hunter is one of the top artists living today. I never stop being in awe of his vision.

Thank you for giving us permission to be our artistic selves. Your advice is always spot on, and your paintings divine.
You bet!

Please tell that to the cats? I'd really appreciate it.
@@CharlieHunterArt Kitties, listen up, you're living with a master artist!
Or shall I put it this way; Meow, meow, meow, meow meow meow meow:))
@@lahaza6515 - they MIGHT get that second way of putting it! ;-)
Nice style. Looks sepia. I couldn't tell if the bowl & paint was oil or water based?
@@Broody58 water-mixable cobra brand I think
I use Cobra water-mixable oils. Great paints - they are the same pigments as Rembrandt oils.

I am amazed he's not wearing glasses, and that he does everything with only one arm. Puts my laziness to shame.
Wearing glasses would detract from my rakish appearance.
That Lascaux stuff was painted inside - NOT REAL PLEIN AIR 😂😂😂
