I am the knowing, I (knowing) am knowing only the knowing, there is just knowing or consciousness appearing to itself in various seeming forms. The world is an illusion, in that it is not what most believe it to be. BUT it still does appear in this matter type way and is very well done we could say. However, I’m still struggling to see how this changes anything, a dream it may be, but the dream is very real and knowing it’s a dream, or that I am the dream itself, what are the fruits of this discovery? how does this new shift or understanding change my life? or how does the life that I am change or change the way it appears to itself? Knowing it’s not as it appears to be (a rocky planet based on cause and effect) or really real, and is actually a subjective experience within consciousness makes it no less a real experience, for me, so far.
Let me indulge an analogy if I may. You are flying a plane with 200 people on board, you barely know how to fly it, it’s an emergency situation and the pilot has passed out. You are desperate and sweating and suddenly the door opens and someone says ‘hi 10 minutes simulator time left’, you are just in a simulator game that was all, and you didn’t realise phew! Then as the man closes the door to the simulator plane he says ‘you’ve still got to land it though or the 200 real people will die’. Now you are back in the flight simulator, you know it is a simulator, it is not what it appears to be (a real plane), but is it any different really? Does that understanding help much? It’s still just as realistic with much the same consequences.

      It changes nothing and everything!
When we take the world to be a solid, fixed, stand alone world we too become fixed. We take a stance about the world and that tends to extend into our beliefs about that world and everything that happens in it.
When we find, in direct experience, that the world is perception only, we realise our own flexible, non judgemental nature and that equates to peace and non resistance.

Alan Neachell thank you Neil, I understand, and truly appreciate your work here and Rupert’s vedantic teachings. I’ve been following for some time and have an Intellectual understanding and an intuitive understanding as well, I’ve glimpsed the stance of person-less awareness and it was a beautiful peaceful placeless place. But for the most part, I am drowning in the relative problems of life, so much weight and heaviness. Sometimes I wonder if I need to make a radical change, if I was single without depends I might just go to India and live in a. Ashram or something crazy like that. These teachings are valid but not enough by themselves to establish a depth a trueness of the heart of it all. I’m devoted to it, but lost, and this is not enough to abide and soak and truly live the true way. I’m looking to a spiritual teacher one on one to develop, I am ready now, I know that, but something is missing, I’m staying routed as best I can in the truth and have handed the keys over to an intelligence above me, so I will remain patient, but I’m running out of hope

In my experience it has been essential to become acquainted with the experience you had of the peace of awareness. Can you 'go to naked awareness at will'?
If we go to that experience whenever we find ourselves lost in the thought commentry, we begin that becoming acquainted process. The more we commit to this, the moments of recognition get longer. Ultimately the practice is seen to be our natural condition and all effort falls away. Feel free to ask anything about this process.

I couldn’t honestly say I can go there at will, but when I experienced this it was so obvious that I couldn’t understand how I had ever missed it, and then I wondered if everyone else knew as well and it was only me that didn’t, that’s how solid it was. But then i kind of contracted again and seem to have lost it, even though I realise that is impossible. I’m going to just remain here without expectations or trying to manipulate anything and keep patient, thanks

Yes, I see that my world is the result of my direct experience (both inner and outer) if one needs to think in these terms. I have to feel, think, perceive and know my world into my experience. I see that my world is my construction in my space of consciousness. I can see that this world is composed of my conscious material whatever that is... BUT here is where I am lost or have great doubt about this. My world is not THE world. There is much about the world that is not part of my experience or my world. To me ...this unexperienced word also has reality separate form my world. What am I missing here?

"I" m an architect, so everything to "me"now, is like a 3d model, where "we" and everything (just energy really) appear like a render with different colors, sizes and shapes, with no real existence, just a projection. Yes, the present perception is a single snapshot. We can call it the dynamic energy of consciousness or love.
You are not the witness, you are the knowing and the known which is not separate.
Three dimensions is an overlay by thought on what is ultimately non dimensional.

And "we" and every, everything made of the same substance. "We" are everything, and everything is "us". Pure knowing. Only thought, like Rupert says, tends to separate everything. Ruper has many gifts and qualities. However it is so sad to repeatedly hear him justifying his "consciousness is all there is"-theory. So often he is stuck in his head, practicing bad philosophy, endlessly suggesting reasons for the beliefs that he suggests are superior.
Spirituality, however, is not about knowing. At its core is the open mind, the mind that doesn't know. Once we dive deep enough into this endless well, we become one with the ordinary mystery of life.
There is nothing wrong with theories, reason and rationality, but it has nothing, nothing to do with the heart of life and spirituality. Rupert is sadly enough also en exceptional teacher in his apparent attachment to beliefs and rational arguments.
Dear Rupert, has it not yet occured to you that spirituality actually begins when we know that we cannot know? Spirituality is really the excursion to this reality beyond our thinking, believing, conceiving and knowing mind.
Look at what happens with your mind when you claim that "consciousness is all there is". It closes down its vast openness.
What is this life? We just don't know. Be that open not-knowing mind. Live from that open not knowing space and liberation happens by itself.
This man is great in so many respects. It is a shame that he is allowed to drive asleep so often.
    Please wake him up!

I definitely will not be getting into an argument with you but I would just like to point out that the mystery of life, absolute not knowing, is central to his teaching.
He makes concessions to help those that still need to ask questions and he does that in the way that he feels will be most effective. With respect to you Jonas 🙏

      @jonashjerpe7421 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@alanneachell9092 Thanks for your reply Alan.
Yes. In fact I also know that the mystery is essential to RS. This time I did not mention it, but I am glad that you did.
I meet so many of RS followers that just replace one set of beliefs with another. They buy his consciousness is all there is philosophy. I know that RS often says that it is a stepping stone. Quite often, however, he is strikingly attached to his philosophy. If he truly lived the mystery that is so essential to him, he would presumably relax his attitude to all the experiential proofs that he is offering. And it is quite clear that to many of his students he is really transmitting a radically new worldview.
To me it is clear that oftentimes the mystery of life is at the very heart of RS teaching. Too often it is also clear that he is occupied defending his most beloved theory, that consciousness is all there is and that the materialist worldview is unfounded or even wrong.
In the latter case and from a philosophical standpoint he is not even considering a fraction of the concerns that a serious philosopher would need to address. This is why his philosophy is really bad. Worse still, the moment he is prooving, justifying, explaining, emphasising his cherished theory of everything he isn't really engaged in spirituality at all. The conscious talk just makes it appear so.
I just presume that any serious teacher or disciple would find this aspect of RS work at least somewhat concerning. I fail to find any indication that this is indeed the case.
Well, Ruperts work is a blessing in many respects, but surely that does not make the striking limitations that are there less valuable.
I would love to hear Rupert address this concern, but I actually get the impression that he is quite content as it is.
Thanks anyway for all the good that you guys bring us all!

As Rupert use to say it usually takes some time and work to wash out the egoic residues after awakening to the truth. A rather brutal Kundalini awakening 5 years ago began to burn away much of the unconscious defensive patterns that remained. Some still remain. So Shiva has to do his awesome and gruesome work for quite some time. Eventually life starts afresh again. I guess I am just allowing the new peace and freedom to mature, because it is surely a maturation process to fully live with it. It will indeed be interesting to find out what it is like in ten years. I mean, this very moment is indeed precious enough! Well let me not keep you further occupied reading and writing Alan.
