Kate, your singing always mesmerizes me, but certain songs especially do, and this is one of them. You could sing from the phone book and it would be beautiful. Thank you for sharing your God-given talent with us.
Kudos to everyone involved. The band and strings did an outstanding job on that well-arranged rendition. Hell, the camerawork and videography was good too. Thank you TV4 for filming this wonderful moment. I so would like to have been there. I love the song since Joan Baez sang it to some friends of my mother in 1966. This song is the reason I wanted to learn to play music. Anyway, thank you Kate.
HELLO KATE HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY !!!!! GOD BLESS YOU AND STAY SAFE !!!!! ENJOYING YOUR MUSIC AS ALWAYS !!!! I FIRST HEARD YOU ON THE GREEN ISLAND RADIO SHOW WITH HARRY O ' DONOHUE
At about 3.12 and 3.22 there are excellent examples of the power of community music. They all know the song, they all know the music and they will celebrate and pass it on to the next.
Such a wonderful version gives me tears and i think maybe as good as The Silencers and Rod Stewart and i don't think England or Scotland do folk the best they are equal. I love Seth Lakeman and Runrig best 2 folk artists for me
I love this, I agree there are many versions of this great song. I also love the version by Virginia Lee ( a great South African singer). She had a hit in SA with this incredible song. Also posted on you tube
a beautiful SCOTTISH song well done to the lassie singing it . ITS NOT AN IRISH SONG the poet who wrote it was from paisley west coast of SCOTLAND his name robert TANNAHILL
@@andrewpaul4442 the original, lyrics by Tannahill, music by Robert Archibald Smith, was actually called "The Braes of Balquhither". You'll find it here on YT. It was 'adapted by Belfast musician Francis McPeake (1885-1971) into "Wild Mountain Thyme" and first recorded by his family in the 1950s' [wikipedia]. To my ears they're very different from each other. I presume that's why the modern song usually gets a dual Scottish/Irish nationality.
Shivers. Kate has something you can't put into words.
Beautiful version.
Beautiful song, beautifully sung.
I have watched this a hundred times over the years- and I tear up every time.Bravo Kate and band.
Thank you for posting an amazing experience. I wish I had been at that festival. 😊
Blooming wonderful. Go Lassie go.
Kate has the most amazing, pure, humble presence about her. So completely humble and beautiful.
Kaitlyn, You nailed it.
Every time I see and listen to this, I am incredibly moved.
Just seen it for the first time. Took me by surprise and now I'm crying.
I agree used to the corries singing this but this version had me in tears
I remember hearing The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem perform this 50 years ago. Beautiful then; beautiful now.
My favorite version :)

And everywhere ofcoursel
In year 5 i went to a singing festival and all the schools sang this and a girl did a solo st the begging and we were doing the sign lantiage for ut
I grew up in Ireland being told the name of that song was "Will ye go, Lassie go." Still the same song.
Many folk songs have different titles and lyrics are changed but it's still the same song 😊
This is very good, but you should check out the young Judy Collins version on A Maid of Constant Sorrow. Pure beauty.
Kate hates to fly so how lucky am I to have seen her play in NY City front row, intimate setting!!!

Have you heard the original song -- it's also very beautiful, but very different to this song we all know and love
@@sdrtcacgnrjrc might have but any info would be grateful

to my Jenny!
Why does the audience cross their arms?
guy at 3:20 looks absolutely smitten
its better then x factor
That's not an English song !!!!!
Who said it was?
The dude yammering at the end
I don't like the twirly perm but the delivery is awesome. Scotland 2014 was only a 45.
That ain't a 'twirly perm' that's Kate's natural curly hair. Just Google image her she's had that corkscrew hair since she was tiny.
Tango! Probably irish American or celtic fc supporter comment.
Ah yes, the version with the beautiful brass that gets brutally cut off by the presenters
Im a big fan. But she was flat here
