I don't think I ever struggled in an arpg in the campaign so much due to bad and irrelevant drops for my class. So far with every class I tried there were sticking points I culdn't pass without going to the trade site and buying gear. For me that really takes away from the arpg experience. Great loot drops and the associated rush is what makes this fun for me. Having a character that struglles through the campaign being to weak is the opposite of the power phantasy.
The ascendency feels like it really punishes getting bad rng with afflictions etc that's my personal biggest gripe, but the story can be easier or harder depending on gear you have to check vendors every single level and sometimes have to sacrifice your DPS for defense or vice versa
Pretty much agree with everything. I’m also a new player and also only playing ssf and also only playing warrior. One of the things you mentioned that no one is talking about that honestly annoys me so much is the terrain blocking vision it’s kinda wild how often you can see your character. Another somewhat big gripe I have especially in ssf is loot like I have a lvl 84 warbringer and a lvl 82 titan and out of all that time I’ve maybe slammed like three items that were legit upgrades. The crafting just feels so dogshit but the gameplay has me hooked.
I'm enjoying the warrior despite seeing everybody else have a totally easier experience on the game because getting over certain humps feels super satisfying with the warrior it has a sense of triumph that others might not have (or maybe do) but I have a sense of relief knowing that when I switch to another class in the future it will probably be easier than if I didn't start with warrior
@@dartlingaming I am almost as far along with my warrior and he feels dull with an uninspired moveset for now. I'm not getting that satisfaction. He's not more difficult, just dull.
Im not sure if its me but im a lvl 32 monk and it feels like my loot drop is so rare. I've been the same gear for like the past 15 lvls. I want new stuff!!!
I agree. I get they want it to be hard, but it definitely seems like you're kinda screwed if you don't trade into better gear for your build specifically. I'm level 40 now, and I get stuck on every single boss either to new mechanics or res too low, yadda - my equipment doesn't stay up to my level at all.
I get tons of loot drops...yet I'm often using the same gear for 10 or 15 levels which sucks. They really need to find a better way to balance the loot system.
I would prioritize the weapon first because it seems like DPS literally is defense on this game the faster you take enemies out the less mechanics you have to deal with, but my biggest suggestion would be going to the vendors every single level up and potentially gambling if you really need a specific gear slot upgrade because it's one of the only deterministic ways to at least Target a specific slot
gamba + vendors are the way to get better weapons. i got stuck somewhere in act 2 (dreadnought boss) and had to resort to trade to get the weap i needed. cost me a whopping 1 aug orb.
the armour formula is more disadvantageous compared to poe1, and many mobs have things that either destroy your armour, or overwhelm your PDR altogether. Kripp has made some good nuanced videos about it. For now, Titan's Blood or w/e it's called + shield is how you get defense on warrior. Probably also worth considering ghostwrithe if you get one to drop
i have one, it would completely require me re doing my res though, it feels bad being life on non trade league bc the chest piece that gives more survivability drops off arbiter of ash smh lol
The ascendancy coins are my biggest problem. I totally failed on my first ascendancy run, after face rolling it, but losing sight of something for 1 sec and I was done. Then I waited for literally 12 hours of gameplay to get another coin. It's ridiculous!!!
I've done the 10 room trial of chaos five times now and have gotten duplicate fragments in order to fight The trial Master to get my fourth ascendancy and it's incredibly annoying I have to farm to hope to get a token to do ten rooms and then hope that I get the fragment that I need to drop... When I first did it I thought I only had to do the 10 rooms once but you have to do it three times minimum... I've also done the 4 floor trial of sekhemas twice one time getting a power outage during the boss and being able to fight him again with only a tiny amount of on our left so that one was blown and then the next time I died because my character stuttered when I was trying to use his movement ability during one of the mechanics in that fight so my whole previous 45 minutes was literally down the drain
Great video. I agree with pretty much everything you said. The Trial thing resonated with me especially. Everyone seems to be just complaining about it being too hard, which I don't agree with, but definitely hate farming the keys for it. There's just no reason for that and it sucks. If I want to run trials, let me do so. It's a core and fun part of the game that is needlessly and excessively gated through grinding. My thought would be just to let the player select the level of the trial up to their character level and have a minor gold fee for doing so. The terrain blocking vision also a big one for me, not sure why transparency is not a thing, but it should be. This is without a doubt THE next gen arpg, but I can't see my character or the monsters if they're behind a wall? My character can see it, but I can't. It's weird and bad. Transparency not being in the game doesn't make sense to me. Finally not having max movement speed on any boots automatically makes them completely worthless to every build. This is not a good thing. I nearly quit in act 2 just because movement felt so slow and cumbersome. Felt like I was moving through quicksand, painfully crawling through areas and couldn't dodge boss mechanics. I only fixed the issue by trading and afterward the game felt sooo much better. They should address this. Either by increasing base move speed and decreasing the increase from boots or just making it an inherent stat on every set of boots.
I have been doing the trials recently and we have bad weather where I'm at right now and I have literally lost two runs where I'm nearly certain I was going to win and get my fourth ascendancy but the power went out 1 room away from the boss lol I think that if they want players to be able to do all of this content without having to watch TH-cam videos first they should at least give you one chance after dying or something so that people can learn the mechanics of the fights... It feels like they are heavily RNG dependent I also think that it was really disappointing to beat all 10 levels of the trials of chaos only to find out that I had to do it two more times (in a perfect scenario) in order to get rng based fragments to be able to fight trialmaster lol
What they could do is since Solo Self Found is separate from trade they could have drop rates balanced around Solo Self Found. Then when you are in the trade side it would be balanced around trading. The reason why I say two different rules for trade and Solo Self Found. It is because if you don't and have it balanced around the good drop rates of Solo Self Found then the really high priced items would drop like a rock very quickly because they would flood the market due to them being easy to find by everyone whether trade or Solo Self Found.
That's a really good point because one thing that I'm noticing doing my fourth ascendancy I've gotten duplicate fragments after doing 10 rounds of trials of chaos, I think that's fine if you can trade to get the ones that you need but for solo self found it feels bad
Watching a Warrior trying to do maps with Mace Skills is exactly as painful as I imagined it to be. Pretty stupid that the best way to play Warrior is to pretend Maces don't exist and rely exclusively on Shield, Aftershock, and Totem skills. Are Warriors bad? Or are Maces just in a really horrible place? Is it a little of both? The mystery endures.
I think with good gear it can take things out fast but it has low mobility everything has a minimum speed that you can't go under so everything just feels kind of slow in terms of combat I think the best way to move around maps is literally to leap slam and Dodge roll the moment that you hit the ground I was playing totems earlier in my playthrough and they are really good and really safe but they still don't make you clear faster because the mobility is just not there compared to some other characters
lots and also fps has felt worse in recent years bc ur at the mercy of how cheap a company is with server allocation and then if the game has insane lag compensation u get fringe case players just benefitting crazily off their bad internet (while just abusing something designed to try to make the game more accessible for everyone)
if they tell you what kills you then ggg will be caught for having bulshite sneaky on death and other bulshite aoe effect to kill you...because you see in poe 1 people just stomp on the game so they brought in sneaky insta death shit to stop you stomping......which is fin ok...poe 2 is not poe 1 and should not have on death bulshit sneaky kills because we have slower movemnt speed and also not many escape mechanism. and if you play warrior you basically playing nightmare masochist whos my daddy mode.

Exactly I've probably been walking for 100,000 hours but I'm not a professional speed Walker... Doesn't mean that I'm some elite player or anything but I guess I need to clear that up for you since you felt whatever kind of way you do about me saying that I guess the context doesn't matter to you but my thumbnail or title or something brought you to the video so thanks for letting me know that I should cater every single Future video just to your liking and not think about anybody else

I can agree to some extent, the endgame is by FAR the most lacking part of poe2, I also have a slight issue playing it solo self found with the way the balancing seems to be around trade league (duplicate drops for key items that require one of each to participate in endgame content feels super time-sink and kinda annoying) also as a d2 player, you already know about enigma and how that just feels so much better than slowly moving through these giant labyrinthian maps in endgame just to have to backtrack to kill 1 rare that you didn't see at the start
Yeah it's really heavily rng dependent, a better weapon can be the difference between trivializing everything and it just feeling tedious and annoying, id say it's more "punishing" than it is hard, sometimes rng can just lock you in place depending on the scenario (essence monster instantly stun locks you etc)
I’m really enjoying the game, don’t play it everyday. But I’m level 60 something on act 3 cruel right now. My build annihilates trash and elites, does good boss damage even with mid gear, but holy smokes I get almost one shot by everything. At 20% armor, 52% evasion, you would think I’d have somewhat survivability. So hard to stack resistances when damage is EVERYTHING. I could have a hair more survivability but then do no damage. Game is great, just needs some fine tuning. I like difficulty, but some of the boss mechanics are just unavoidable BS that’s bad design
Yes sometimes it doesn't really feel like it's a skill issue it feels like it's literally a luck issue and that doesn't feel good because it doesn't feel like your time is respected when something can happen that just erases the previous x amount of time that you spent getting to that point (the amount of RNG involved in ascending is honestly kind of annoying, especially solo self found where I have to luck into getting the right fragments to drop to fight trial master and get my 4th ascendency
