The "golden age" of shopping on Black Friday, when you camped out overnight, at the store of your choice, and then when the doors were flung open the insane hoard was turned loose. Getting that bargain TV or X-Box system that everyone had to have. Who could forget the rush for Tickle Me Elmo back in the late 90's. If you didn't get one on Black Friday you were SOL. Then one year the internet poked it's head around the corner and said there was no need to go to the stores anymore, get it at home, and then Covid happened and Black Friday was further reduced to what it is today. I just got back from doing my shopping 11-24-23 and although there were some decent crowds, it's just a shadow of what it once was. I miss the old days but I guess those are now just a memory. Happy Holidays to all

This is giving me ptsd. I worked at Walmart in 2008 while going to college and Black Friday was absolute insanity. People pushing, shoving and fighting just to get a deal on a crappy tv. This is exactly why my family never went shopping on black friday. I went once when I was like 19 with my mom and grandma, and we were like "never again" lol. We would have rather just spent more money than have to deal with the massive crowd. Most of the sales/prices are a joke though. They put a fake price up that has a slash through it and the sales price is really the every day price. Or they do other various stuff with the prices. It's always best to start making mental notes of stuff you'd be interesting in buying during Black Friday around August-October. That way when the Black Friday prices are revealed, you can tell if it's worth the price or if it's a deal. Normally on Black Friday I just go with movies and maybe video games. Plus stuff I really need or want. I'm not going to buy a $1 coffee maker because it's $1. I don't even drink coffee. But yeah. You have to be smart about Black Friday. Most of the time, the Black Friday prices are a joke/trick.
