I hope that Best Buy salesman got a raise, he totally convinced that lady to purchase about $400 worth of Wii products that she didn’t know she needed. Good stuff right there
That’s awesome. I was about that age when the N64 came out. My parents kept saying over and over how many times it had been impossible to get one because they were all out of stock. I already had it in my mind that Christmas I wasn’t going to get one so I was okay with that. Of course the very last present my parents pulled out, the N64. I went nuts 😂
Same here. Simpler and better times. I was so excited when I opened the present showing the Wii in the box brand new. I remember me and my sister playing with the Wii all the time. I remember playing Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Sports Resort, New Super Mario Bros Wii, and Mario Party 8. I miss my Wii everyday. I want a Time Machine so bad.
Man, nothing compares to the hype of the Wii. Motion control was absolutely revolutionary, and it was the first video game console that focused heavily on family play. My entire family was playing this thing that Christmas it was so great!
Despite It's lack of power basically being a slightly souped up Gamecube , Nintendo still had a true cultural phenomenon on their hands , *everyone* was trying to get a Wii all through 06/07.
I remember those shortages the first year. It was impossible to find a Wii in the wild for the 2006 holiday season. I finally saw a single new Wii sitting on the shelf at my small town Pamida store (R.I.P.) in October ‘07! Purchased on the spot!
2007 was the beginning of a few years where gaming was absolutely on fire. Every holiday season there was more games that'd become classics than there was time to play them. This continued to about 2011-14 I'd say depending on who you ask. Halo 3 and CoD4 were awesome, skate as well. Spent so much time with those 3 as a teen.
I remember my dad and I did a last minute run to best buy in 2007, they said they had 11 Wiis left, we raced over to Best Buy and when we got there they only had three left. We bought it with Wii play. Great memories, sadley had to wait till Christmas to play.
I still remember Christmas 2007 at my grandparents house, getting the Wii along with Twilight Princess from my mom. Shes told me the story a few times now of having to check 5+ stores just to find one lol I should thank her again the next time i see her. That was probably the last Christmas where i still felt the childlike wonder, just before hitting that sweet angsty teenage transition lol
This was so cool to see. I pre ordered my Wii at GameStop. I still remember it clearly. They only got 7 or 8 Wii’s in and I was the “first” to put in my pre order. I say “first” because I was number 5 on the list meaning the first four taken up on the sheet must’ve been the employees. I went early morning with my dad to pick it up and there weren’t any lines. I got it, two games (including Zelda, of course) and an extra nunchuck controller for my baby sister and I to play. I remember it wasn’t too hard to get stuff on my side of town but with the population boom in South Texas the past two decades it’s been getting much harder for stuff like this to be in stock. And just people not understanding the meaning of Southern Hospitality apparently 😞 Thanks for the nostalgic trip!! Your videos have been so awesome to watch I was happy to instantly subscribe😁 Also, poor Xbox. Nobody is touching those 360’s😂. That was the first system I bought with my own money so it had more meaning to my ownership. Just like the Wii my parents actually loved the bowling and the Kinect. It was easy to not have anything in your hand and use your body as the controller.
My parents camped out and got it on release day in 2006. Didn't receive it until my birthday that December. All I remember vividly is them talking about how long the line was to get it. The PS3 released on the same day and one stood in line for Wii and the other to get the PS3 for my older brother
This was the year that I got my Wii for Christmas. My mom bought it for me at an EB Games store in New Jersey. I was 20 years old and in college at the time. I was hoping I'd get Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but that game got pushed back to March, so I ended up getting Super Mario Galaxy and WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2008. But I had lots of fun with it over the years with games like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, No More Heroes, MadWorld, The Conduit, the Kamen Rider: Climax Heroes fighting games, and so much more.
Last time I went to Best Buy, they had some line at the front door to get in with a lady asking one by one why we were there and what we're looking for. I don't really understand why exactly, I felt like I had to make a good enough excuse otherwise they wouldn't let me in. After they pointed each person to what they're there for though, you could walk wherever anyway so it was really weird. Haven't been back since Frys electronics closed down but talk about bad customer service! Unless you were elderly or looked rich, the employees would practically run away from you, dodging in and out of isles to make an escape. I had one dude tell me to please not price match an item that was $5 cheaper on Newegg, he said if people price match for any amount of savings, the employee loses all commission for that sale.
That one lady 🤣 she just saw something was going on and said "imma get one too , idk what it is but imma go get me one of whatever people lined up for " 😂

Never played a Wii in my life. I probably sold at least 10 of these on eBay in 2006 and 2007. I remember camping out at Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. However, getting them and selling them werent nearly as fun as getting and selling NES Classics and SNES Classics. Easily sold tons of those. Still got 1 brand new SNES and NES Classic for backup purposes and another set for personal use. Got hakchi2 2.17c on NES Classic with all my favorite SNES/NES/Sega Master/Sega Genesis/TurvoGrafx16/Atari 2600/Atari 7800/Arcade games on there. Kept the SNES Classic as stock, since it's perfect without the addition of any installed roms. Fun fun fun!!!!!!

He also let me play it too I believe the game that was on the screen at that time was Super Mario (racing). Definitely one of the happy memories I have.. sometimes I wonder how's bro been doing. Hopefully he's doing good in life
I know we look back at the Wii and laugh how cheap it was. Back then, the $250 launch price was the equivalent of $400 today. Not only that, but each controller was $39 back then ($62 today). Games for the Wii back then would be the equivalent of $94 in today's dollars. The Wii was revolutionary, the motion sensing was a game change for the industry. Why do these people always sue the worst cameras from the 80's? We had 1080p60 in 2007. Hell, the Cannon 50D was about to drop in a year and that had 4K, becoming one of the most common DLSRs. I guess the crystal clear images, indistinguishable from modern vloggers wouldn't sell views as "Nostalgic" though, would it?
can you stop talking? youre on about absolutely nothing man. we had 1080p60 in 2007, but that shit was the newest, most advanced stuff you could fathom back then. 4k in 2007 was just unheard of, most people didnt even know what it was back then. hell, the first 4K tv wasnt even released until late 2012, and even then those types of televisions werent the popular ones until 3-4 years later. what do you want them to do, go back in time and tell their 2007 self to buy the most advanced piece of equipment available for shooting video? what youre doing is looking at a normal, average video from 2007 and going full on delusional over it for no reason

I didn't get a PlayStation 3 until a year later for Christmas in 2007. The only thing I didn't like about the Nintendo Wii was that you had to put new batteries in the controllers every time the batteries died. They didn't have rechargeable batteries.
The Nintendo Wii Launch was the first console launch I got to experience firsthand, pre-ordering it with my own money, and going to the store to pick it up during launch day. Sadly the enjoyment only lasted for about two years. Games weren't that good except for a few hidden gems and the technological breach between the Wii and the competition widened too fast. I got an Xbox 360 in 2008 and never looked back. The Wii was my farewell to Nintendo as my only gaming console.

Some of your early 1990’s footage looks better than this. Why?
Cameras used and video sources may vary. 😂
Analog video could look great, early digital could be rough.
Best buy employees are no where near this helpful today

2007. That was only a few months ago right? Oh wait 16 years? Damn this was before my son was born (he was born on Dec 28 of that year).
I was able 2 buy a Woo Counsel.
now they sell used for more than new back then.
PLEASE bring me back

Why should he give his secrets away?
I think this guy finds raw unedited stock footage from news channels. So these were probably news crews going in.
