Would love for you to review more travel clothes that don’t wrinkle. Like your cute dress that you have on and have talked about in other videos. Thanks for this review!
Taos has several other styles that don’t have a toe strap. I love the Trophy 2 with a backstrap and can walk all day in them when we travel with no foot pain ever. And I also have their slide sandals in the Prize and Double U models, and they are such a great walking sandal, and they all also look good with dresses! I’ve been wearing mine for years and they hold up really well.
As a retired teacher and one that has battled plantar fasciitis, I HIGHLY recommend fitflops. They come in different styles, and I would highly recommend the sales. The heel cushion and arch support are exceptional. I have a high instep and decent arch. All sorts of styles are available . . .
I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitus about 20 years ago. I do specific stretches every day and I have very little pain. The doctors marveled over my "Eiffel Tower " arches.
As an 81 year old solo woman traveler, your review was tres apropos. As I like to travel carry on, I was looking for super comfortable, lightweight, and (very important) stylish sandals to wear on my 3 month (bucket list) trip to China and SE Asia. Ordering 3 pairs, Plaka, Taos, and Utenang to try out prior to my mid August departure. Since I’m planning several more future bucket list trips, I look forward to your future travel reviews!
@@GenxGypsy1968 I’m degreed in ancient history, so most of my wishlist is historical/cultural areas: Peru, Macho Pichu, Patagonia, Galapagos, Morrocco Egypt, pyramids and cruising on the Nile; and the Balkans. Would love to travel to Israel and thru Middle East but not safe for now. Could you recommend a VPN for Asia and China?
Love it! I’d love to see non- athletic style sneakers next! The kind that looks good w a sun dress. Also, how long did you wear each sandal to test them? I often find what I think is an awesome shoe but after I wear them a few times they had issues.
I love the Vionic, Clarks and Fit Flop. It really depends on what I will be using them for, but I am looking for comfort and for them to have arch support, etc..
I’ve had my eye on the Plaka sandals forever! This was my nudge to give them a try! Thanks! I’m searching for supportive but reasonably stylish sneakers for a Europe trip.
I had those plaka sandals in my saved for later on Amazon for a few weeks. You addressed my concern on the braids rubbing & hurting. After watching this, I'll be making the purchase!
I went on a cruise one time in Europe and had the wrong kind of shoes and the cobblestones hurt my feet terribly. The next time I went to a shoe specialty shop and had a foot evaluation by a Certified Pedorthists. The specialist looks at your feet and how you walk and recommends the type shoe that best fits your needs. He recommended the Teva Tirra. They have a great foot bed, Velcro to accommodate your foot width and a wrap around your ankle for better stability. I walked around cobblestone streets and never had foot pain. I’ve been wearing that style shoe ever since for every day, walks and hikes. Love them.
I have the Utenag's in black, and taken them on most of my trips for the last year. They are SO comfortable, doesn't matter if I was walking all day in New Orleans (20k+ steps) or just around my city, my feet feel so good!
I just found you via this video and I’m now a new subscriber. Thank you so much for taking the time to source and try out these sandals. I also follow Alyssa Beltempo and have been wondering where to get hold of a dupe for the Emme Parsons sandals she wears, as I just can’t justify the price! 😱 The Crocs ones, even though you said they didn’t fit you well, could be perfect for me as I have wider feet than you so they will not be so loose. I am also a little nervous to spend money on black sandals as I usually wear flesh coloured, tan or metallic sandals so I didn’t want to spend a lot to try them out. I found these for 29€ on Amazon in my country - the last pair available - and am now waiting for them to arrive! I really like your style, I’m going to go and check out other videos now ❤️
Love this video! Some great suggestions. Two more ideas for consideration 1. A dressier sandal with a heel or wedge that is still very comfortable and light weight 2. A dressy closed toe shoe for cooler climate travel that is not a ballet flat which I find too flat and not comfortable for long term wear. Again comfortable and lightweight Thanks for testing all these shoes out for us.
I forget what I had last year but I wore them out traveling in the summer. I had a funny experience where toward the end of my trip I met someone for lunch at a restaurant called “Picolino.” She mentioned that it was also the name of a Spanish brand of travel sandals. As the sandals I was literally wearing at the moment were ready to throw out, on the way back from that meal I was sitting on the train and googled those shoes. I found them on Amazon! I ordered a pair - not cheap - but incredibly comfy and I’ve even been wearing them to work here at home this summer. Just something to consider.
New subscriber here. Thank you for doing the legwork (footwork?) for us! I've been wanting a great travel sandal and I'm ordering the one you recommended. Can you please review a cute sneaker for travel? Something like a white court shoe that is versatile for different outfits.
Definitely look at the Reef brand. I have walked miles in their flip flops with no problem. I am interested to see how their sandals are. Loved the video!
I have 3 pairs of Vionic sandals (flip flop style) and I LOVE them. They are comfortable right out of the box, can be dressy or casual and they have great arch support. I’ve worn them all day shopping or running errands and they never hurt or rub blisters. I also like Clark’s Cloudsteppers for casual walking…they have a low wedge heel and they are super soft. I usually can’t stand shoes that wrap around the big toe, but I think they are cute…I may try your favorite! Thanks for the video!
Apropos of nothing, I cannot comment without telling you that I absolutely love your hair!! You and I are about the same age, and while I’m not ready to let myself go full gray, I have (basically) black hair which requires frequent touch ups and I’ve been trying to find a color that lets me grow out the gray while still looking as young as I feel. 😆 You are going to be my inspiration next time I go to the stylist. ☺️ As for the shoes, thank you so much for this video! I am always on the lookout for good travel shoes and I think your favorites were my favorite as well. But I have to say, I too have shied away from Birks even though my daughter loves them, but yours were cute enough that I’m considering them. My personal favorite travel shoes are from Solely Jane. They are convertible in that you can change out the tops which allows you to pack a few pairs of shoes in the space of one pair. 😮 I was worried that they wouldn’t be comfortable because I have some funky feet (narrow heel and high instep) but I wore them all day with no problems and mine are heels! However, they recently released a line of flats too.
Aww, thank you!! It took awhile for me to finally go natural… I told myself I could always color it again if I decided I didn’t like it 😊. I’ve been wanting to try the Soley Janes…
I love the hair as well. I grew my dark brown hair out during the pandemic and never looked back. Hair color is toxic especially every 3 weeks like I was having to do roots. Never again!
Thank you for the informative video. I almost cheered when you got to the Plakas. I have 3 pair and have been wearing them for probably 3 years. Everything you say about them it 100% true. I have a couple with the heel strap you had on your video and one that is more of a flip flop type without the heel strap. Love them!!! Thanks again.
@@GenxGypsy1968 I have the black with white accents in a flip flop style and LOVE THEM. I get compliments everytime I wear any of the three I have and folks always want to know the brand and where I got them.
Just got my new Plaka sandals. Perfect fit right out of the box. I don't usually like shoes that have parts that go between the toes, but you barely feel these. Great buy, thanks for the recommendation.
I would like to see a video on sneakers. I purchased Vessi sneakers because they are waterproof, but it rubs on my right heel, where it looks like it could be a bone spur. I am planning a trip to Europe in 2025, where I'll be doing a lot of walking on uneven streets. I have Birkenstocks, and I absolutely love them.
I really enjoyed this video, and would love to see more along the same lines, with different types of footwear. Maybe you can do a short one once the Vionic and other sandal arrives 😉 Thanks!
Fitflop....my foot dr recommended them. Some of the sandals are nice looking, but the white tennis shoes are fabulous! I have gone through 6 pairs!! I wear them on every trip and all through touring in Europe. The clean white look goes with dresses or yoga pants. The comfort technology can't be beat. I've had three different foot surgeries on my rt foot, and all the walking doesn't bother me a bit in these shoes!
I own the Taos in black and took them on trips to Greece and Spain. They were perfect to sightsee and hike in. I also felt very secure in them which is surprising since they don't have a heel strap.
I have a different style of Tevas and I love them. Can walk all day in mine and can get them wet. I found a black Clark’s black sandal like an oofo. Beautiful and makes the foot look nice and made to support the foot.
I love these kinds of reviews! We have similar tastes so I really enjoy your videos. I found the dress you’re wearing but in a halter style which I prefer. I am going to order the Utenga sandals…I love the look of the Taos but they’re over $300CDN 😢 and I don’t care for the look of your number 1 choice…
Loved the video. Your criteria for the review were so helpful and specific. I would loved to see one on coats and jackets for a cool weather cruise. I have Antarctica in my future. New sub here.
I tried a vionic since I have a decent arch in my feet but the arch support in vionics are just too much and have little to no give (cushion). I was quite disappointed. I hope they work for you.
Loved the video. Would like your take on Skechers sandals - but not ones that have something between the toes. I don’t like to travel with that kind . I’m afraid it’d rub too much.
I agree the teva verra sandals are not cute especially with dresses but they are so comfortable. I’m on my 3rd pair. I only wear them with pants. Also agree that Taos sandals are very comfortable. I was able to find a new pair on eBay for 30.00…they are a bit pricey regular retail. I had a pair already so I knew what size I needed. I ordered the plaka sandals. Like that they have a back strap. For some reason I can’t wear shoes without one. Hope they work! I appreciate the work you put into this video. Thanks!!!❤
I have ugly Crocks for long flights because I wear compression socks, they are not heavy, practical even on the beach, also have the plastic Birkenstock, comfortable and light weight too, for walking and beach...
I like to wear Crocs or my plastic Birkenstocks on planes because I can wash them at my destination. Plane bathrooms can be disgusting. I just wear socks so I won't be too cold on the plane.
I would like to see a revue on pointy toed shoes. I usually wear a wide shoe because the front of my foot is wider. My heel is narrow to average, so I have a horrible time buying shoes. And I’ve never worn a pointed toe shoe, but I see some that I like the look of. Thank you.
Those Croc Miami toe sandals were PERFECT for me. I thought they might rub, but when my trusted Vivaia flats tore a blister on my heel during a trip to NYC, the Crocs came to the rescue and I walked many miles in them with no issues. If they fit your foot, it’s like walking on clouds. Got them in two colors now.
Keens! Especially for feet that need orthotics, use in place of orthotics. There’s no great dual duty, you’ll lose durability and comfort or style. Two pairs are needed if you want dressier options.
My favorite travel sandals are (1) Birkenstocks (EVA if you get wet, otherwise the Big Buckle Madrid, the Mayari or tje Gizeh for shorts and casual dresses) and (2) Tory Burch Miller sandals. They take up no space and can dress up an outfit for nice dinners. I wouldn’t wear them for touring but I love them for evening or times when I want to look nicer.
I love my Birkenstocks too! I do find the Gizeh (one featured) dressier than some of their other styles. Unfortunately in Canada I’d have to pay a lot for the Plaka and I’m not sure I can bring myself to do it. They do look lovely though.
I have the Teva Tirras (similar to Verras). I don’t like sandals with anything between my toes (like flip flops). These are comfy for walking everywhere. Got the solid black (black sole, black straps) so I could dress them up a bit. PLUS I can wear them in water (so one less pair of shoes to pack).
I have Tiva voya. They are slightly less utilitarian looking. They do have a ring around your great toe and elastic strap at the back. Good on slippery surfaces and quick drying.
How is the sizing on the Plaka sandals? Are they true to size? I usually wears a size 7 but slightly wide, so I sometimes go up half a size to 7.5. The sizing options on Amazon are 6.5-7 and 7.5-8. So not sure which size to get. Thanks for your input.
Loved the video! I’m glad the Cushionaire sandals work for you but they are terrible for me. The quality, wear, and fit are nowhere near Birkenstock in my experience. Birks are so bulky to pack in my carryon but I’m not going anywhere without them. I’d love to hear what you think of Vionics!
I wear easy spirit traveltime to travel in as it's easy to slip on/off. I'd love for you to do the easy on/off and comfortable shoes to walk a mile in the airport or while traveling period. The traveltime tends to kinda slip while power walking through the airport.

They’re so cute!!! I wanted to love them 😢
I have neuropathy in my feet so I am very picky on shoes. Vionics are wonderful! ❤
Your top choice is really surprising to me! It’s not one I would have looked at due to the strap material. I’ll be checking those out!
That was my concern too when I ordered them, but the straps are much softer than they look 😊
That's a great dress!!
Definitely going to try the Plaka sandals
No issues with the braiding on the Plaka’s feeling rough on the skin? Tia.
Just ordered the Plaka!
I love my Birkenstocks too! I do find the Gizeh (one featured) dressier than some of their other styles. Unfortunately in Canada I’d have to pay a lot for the Plaka and I’m not sure I can bring myself to do it. They do look lovely though.
Yep…Birkenstock everywhere …Chaco’s for water & hiking
which are true to size? do the plakas adjust?
I have the Teva Tirras (similar to Verras). I don’t like sandals with anything between my toes (like flip flops). These are comfy for walking everywhere. Got the solid black (black sole, black straps) so I could dress them up a bit. PLUS I can wear them in water (so one less pair of shoes to pack).
I have Tiva voya. They are slightly less utilitarian looking. They do have a ring around your great toe and elastic strap at the back. Good on slippery surfaces and quick drying.
Such a great video, thank you. 🙏
Love your dress!
Try Josef Siebel sandals xx
I would like you to review winter travel ankle boots. I'm flying to Europe in January for a cruise, any suggestions, Love your choices and videos.
Got the Eccos and fit perfectly and I can wear them out of the box all day. Maybe you needed a smaller size?
Loved the video! I’m glad the Cushionaire sandals work for you but they are terrible for me. The quality, wear, and fit are nowhere near Birkenstock in my experience. Birks are so bulky to pack in my carryon but I’m not going anywhere without them.
I’d love to hear what you think of Vionics!
Love this review video! Keep them coming!
I wear easy spirit traveltime to travel in as it's easy to slip on/off. I'd love for you to do the easy on/off and comfortable shoes to walk a mile in the airport or while traveling period. The traveltime tends to kinda slip while power walking through the airport.
Vionics are awesome if you have foot pain.
I have various styles of Birkenstocks. I do wear them in the plane and no that aren’t that heavy to pack. Plenty of styles.
Thank you for sharing and creating this video. Interesting topic
It's too bad the Vionic didn't arrive in time for this video. They are comfortable and stylish.
The Plaka sandals are on lightning deal right now!
