👍🤚WOW my friend I love that you put together Top 5 Mountains showing and telling us all the pros and cons. Your information is just absolutely wonderful with all your captures. Always nice to see you and hope you are well. Love your channel and every year it just gets better. Thanks for sharing have a good week take care your friend in Florida 💕
Very cool. I live at the 2800 foot elevation of nearby 9150 foot high Mt. Lemmon, Santa Catalina Mountain Range, SE Arizona. I love it when I summit the mountain and do it every year, sometimes more than once. At 71 years of age, I only do the summit in my vehicle, but do occasionally hike the lower levels thru some very rugged desert terrain. I am glad you have the youth and stamina to make the climbs and rate the mountains. Thank you for sharing your perspective on these beautiful mountains.
Wow! I’m glad to hear you’re still doing it good sir! I don’t matter how we get there. A slow amble through the woods - a brisk walk around a lake. A mountain summit assault or a drive up to a view point. As long as we get to enjoy nature in our own way, the best we can is all that matters. The 1000 yard stare over a horizon is what we seek to clear the mind. Thank you so much for your story 😊🙏
Excellent review of your Tokyo area mountain hikes... I cannot recommend any new ones for you Rocky.. I depend on you to show me your Japan mountains... Awesome video my friend.
A pleasure to watch and learn Rockie, really appreciate the amount of work that goes into compiling a ‘best of’ like this. Enjoyed the views again! I think I would have a tough time choosing my favourites ! 👍👍👍
A great reward for sure Rocky the city is a tip compared to hiking the mountains and the healing is real for sure. Love it man I like all five thanks for sharing ATB and God bless you ..
Thank you so much, boss! :) I wish everyone would not get some bent outta shape over every little thing and breath in the fresh air from time to time. It really helps cleans your soul. IMO it's the easiest way to get close to your higher powers, when your mind is free, which ever that may be. Appreciate it!
Awesome video mate, really professional, all places looked amazing, your doing a great job of advertising Japan, it looks a beautiful place, great video mate, 👍👍
That’s very kind of you boss. These script videos take a lot of work but they seem to work from time to time. I’d prefer to just go camping, honestly 😊 Thank you very much Gaz 🙏
Wow.what a wonderful place, really amazing. Very valuable presentation and it is fantastic. I wish you the best of luck and continue to improve your channel.really I enjoyed watching your video and thanks for sharing. Hope you have a wonderful day.
In April is pushing it for Alps & Kamikochi unless your experianced mountaineer. Just for a regular hike I suggest stick to Tanzawa Oyama region. Enjoy!
Brandon McInnis Man. Good call. Kentoki is next in my list. I was supposed to go last week but got sidetracked. I’ll be there in the next week or 2. View looks amazing.
Thanks for the recommendations. I definately want to try the top 3 you mentioned. Have you ever hiked Mt Fuji at night and watched the sun come up from the summit? That was my experience a few years ago on the mountain and it was so amazing! I did the hike when the moon was full and the sky happened to be clear all night. Many people were in front of me because most started the hike during the day and rested at some of the stations - this meant I could see all the headlamps on the switchbacks ahead of me. Looked like a giant Christmas tree!! Between that, the big full moon, the stars and the sunrise from the summit, I still can't think about it without getting goosebumps.
I have not climbed Fuji-san at night but that story motivates me to for back for a 4th summit- but next time at night as you mentioned. Sounds amazing! With the 2020 Olympics coming next year I think Fuji will more crowded than ever. I'll probaby skip next year but in 2021? Who knows? Thank you so much for sharing! :)
Always got to be an easy one for the beginners and to get people into walking these great peaks. I love love to hike Mt Fuji for the achievement, rather that the trail up of the rocking step-in stones and I would have to do it at first light, as too many people for me. I can see why your number 1 is your favourite and so special with it being the first summit you climbed 15 years ago. Cheers Alan
Believe it or not Mt Fuji is more crowded at first light. Everyone wants that sunset shot. I'm really not a fan of the first one but if it can get people hiking then it has to be ranked because of it's importance :) Whatever gets people outside! Thank you so much, Alan!
The secret to climbing Fuji-san is to climb from the bottom through the secluded forests. Barely anyone treads those paths. There are old shrines and monuments scattered through those woods. The other tip I always give is to climb just into September, some huts are still open but the crowds have dispersed - most Japanese only climb during the official Fuji hiking season of July/August. Thanks for the video. I need to explore those Tanzawa mountains more👍🏻
I certainly respect your opinion. I doubt I’ll ever go for a 4th summit but if I do I’ll heed your advice! Tanzawa probably isn’t so challenging for you but the views are great at least 😊 You probably need to Tanzawa traverse to peak your interest - which I hope to try someday myself. Thank you so much, Willie!
Awesome video, my friend. Man you spent some time on this and made a very professional looking project...felt like I was watching Travel Channel or Discovery. You definitely let us know where we need to go if we get the chance to visit Tokyo, and you have done a spectacular job of letting us know how much more there is to Japan than the commonly known city stuff.
Thank you so much. My channel has been floundering for years. Not that I really have any goals other than a hobby but if one is going to take the time to put together small projects you want them to do reasonably well at least. We'll try this for now. I'll keep my Yeti microphone cooking! :) I appreciate it boss. Your compliments are very kind.
In my personal opinion, for many Japanese, Mt. Fuji is a mountain that should be seen! I don't climb, so I want to go to Lake Kawaguchi and enjoy the scenery with Mt. Fuji! (I have never been to see Mt. Fuji yet!) But if I look at Mt. Fuji, I'm sure it will change my mind! It was a wonderful ranking! Thank you!
Viewing from Kawaguchi-ko or any of the five lakes is spectacular. But you have a different level of awe when you see it, sooo huge! & you know you've stood on the top. It's a amazing feeling. For me anyway :) Thank you kindly for the view and great comment.
Hi rockie! Thank you for sharing this video... Can you also make a video about best portable heater that we can buy here in japan? It is really cold now but me and my family still want to do the camping this December please help me find a best but safe and affordable portable heater for my family? thank you... looking forward for more of your videos... ❤️😍❤️
I appreciate it but it's not that cold yet, is it? :) I suppose I just like the cold. I don't use a heater at camping but a good tent stove is always fun like the type i use in my kifaru supertarp video. Stay warm and thank you for the comment! Rockie
#3 Oyama-san is a excellent hike. The fact there are cable cars are really helpful. Not everyone can climb but everyone deserves to look out over the horizon with a fine distant stare. Japanese are good about including all like that nice they are a very nature driven culture, with shinto and all. Thank you so much, Mark!
Hello Rocky Very well done and informative for those wanting to go to Japan and climb . Will share your video whit friends that started hiking around the world. Have a great week my friend 挨拶 Salutation Greetings Hélène et Serge 💑 👍😉🏔🎥
inspiring video! We are going to walk the Tonodake hike, we want to start at Hadano visitor center, is that recommended? And how long does it take to walk up and down again?
Yes, please do! But I only ever did it from the bus stop / parking. From there every time I did it I believe length was 4 hours round trip. But keep in mind I’m pretty slow. I’m sure you can crush that - but leave time to enjoy the summit! Enjoy.
Awesome seeing them hikes views was amazing from my phone thanks brother
I’m getting too old and outta shape for these kinds of hikes. I’m glad to knock out these mountains while I still had ‘em in me 😊 Appreciate that.
@@rockeastwood yes im getting there well at 52 im still down to hit them hikes, cheers brother

Rock on Rocky! Nice video again. Very interesting to see Japan through your eyes.
I appreciate that Vin 😊 It’s all just some good fun. 🙏
Excellent I really enjoyed this video and while I’m not likely to climb any of the mountains you have inspired me to want to try.
You don’t even need to climb a mountain Suzy Q. A good day walk in the woods or around a lake is every bit as good! 😊 Thank you kindly.
Awesome video again Rock! Very educational. 👍😁
Thank you so much, Braxx :) I try. I appreciate it.
I like this style of video. It's something new and informative. Thanks Rocky!
I appreciate that Jeff. I thought I should try a little harder hence the recent script and voice over videos. More work... better results. Thank you!
I'm so glad I found this channel

Not surprised Tonodake was #1, I agree completely from what I've seen in you videos.
:) Indeed. It's a real climb unlike the others (Well, except for Fuji-san) Thank you buddy.

If I’m ever in or around Tokyo I def. wanna check out Mt. Tonodake.
Yes! Please do! It’s no Kuju mountains mind you but it’s the best (IMO) near us 😊 I’d love to hear your opinion of it 🙏
Thanks...we're probably going in april and we're hoping we can do one of these. The alps region might be too snowy for what we want.
