    I'm sure the larger Shocks are better performance but, adding larger tires, more sidewall and airing down will give the illusion that the Shocks are doing all the work. And the gladiator has a longer wheel base.. Of course it's going to ride better than that willys wrangler.

      You're forgetting bigger tires usually come with a thicker ply, I have Micheln 31" 4 ply all season tires and lemme tell you they are way more soft and forgiving than my 35" Toyo AT3s 10 ply, even when aired down to 15 PSI and keeping my all seasons at 30

      I have a rubicon gladiator diesel and the stock shocks won’t do the job. I am running 35s TOYO A/T.
      My friend bought the Mojave n it comes with the 2.5 shocks from the factory and it makes A HUGEEEE difference. I am saving for the 2.5 fox shocks and the fox hydro bump stops.

    They're apparently going to ignore that the stock shocks have76,112 miles on them. Seems like that by itself would cause 'shock degradation', no? 2:10

      That's so true my front shocks were leaking and donzo around 80 thousand miles (give or take a few thousands) on my jeep jk. Those stock shocks are probably gonna need replacing soon.

    I use the 2.0 series on my JKU 3.5 Rock Krawler xfactor and love the suspension. I thought about going to the 2.5 but found that upgrading the bump stops to Metal Clock’s DUROSPRING MICROCELLULAR and can’t be happier. We don’t feel that hard impact anymore. As for the side to side I use swayloc remote dual rate swaybar and I’m able to switch depending on terrain what keeps my wheels down and my Jeep solid when I need it. I’d buy and recommend the 2.0 performance over and over again.

    My 2013 Silverado 1500 has Fox 2.5 front and 2.0 resi rears. They are fine, but not as impressive as I had hoped when I spent $2000 on them. Current truck, 2021 Titan Pro-4x upgraded to Bilstein 6112 2.5" front and 5160 2.0" rear are better in nearly every scenario at $800. I'm not a Fox hater at all. My mountain bikes all use Fox forks/shocks.

      I swear by Bilsteins too and that's what I have on my car. It's a 1995 Mercedes E320 and i installed them on the car when I bought it ~10 years ago. I get sporty handling with a nice plush ride at the same time. It needed shocks when I bought it so that was an easy upgrade.
      I need to install them on my current car (same car but a wagon. And diesel!) But it has te sportline shocks which are a standard sporty upgrade for the Mercedes. I doubt they are as good as the Bilsteins though.

    Those 2.5’s seem like the ideal setup there, either that or go full on external bypass if you’re already planning on spending over 1k per shock, instead of the internal bypass for similar cost. But the internal bypass is great if you had it dialed in custom and don’t want to bother with worrying about adjustments too much.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the 3.0 has a full aluminum body and finned reservoirs, not something you can mimic with an external bypass shock. We wouldn't trade IBP and finned ressies for only rebound compression

    • @alexmills1329
      @alexmills1329 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GaryGill786 these are aftermarket and are better than what your stock parts options are as long as they are matched properly eg. don’t pair 4+ inch lift shocks on a stock height vehicle and don’t get 3.0’s on a 2 door Jeep unless you really need tons of shock absorption as otherwise it will be overly stiff. A good quality lift kit should have well paired shocks or go to a place like accutune for a good setup.

    Great video Andre! If shocks typically last around what 60k-100k miles would that be the same for the beastly 3.0 ($6 Grand) shocks? At that price for mileage ratio I could never justify spending that much. If they are rebuildable how much would that be? Ill stick with the bilstein 5100's/2 in lift/33" tire combo for Daily Driver and offroading/overlanding/camping use for a fraction of the price!

    I'm in love with those Fox 3.0 shocks! They are expensive as hell, but I bet they are worth every penny. Does Fox make a 2.0 shock kit for Chevrolet Express van 3500? I will need new shocks ans suspension work in a few months for mine and I would love to have great sus components. BTW, it is abd will remain on stock height, I want them to keep their performance under full load when I hit long Highway journeys (3300 pounds of payload in a 6500 punds van on a highway in Mexico will fatigue any stock or OEM replacement shock in less than 100 miles).
    Just experienced that shock fatigue on my last journey and it was awfull, I was already empty and going back home but I had to cut my speed from 90mph to 50mph because the vehicle felt unstable. And thanks! I now know why that happened.

    • @ShockSurplus

    Comparison is not fair for the following reasons
    1. They used a jk with a beat up stock shocks and stock tires on the first jeep
    2. For 2.0 shocks they brought a jeep with 33s and jks suspension
    3. For 2.5 there was a gladiator which rides different from the jk
    4. God knows what tire pressures they were running on each Jeep
    I have the 2.0 with reservoirs on my jk. They don’t ride any different from the rubicon shocks. Only difference is the fox corner flatter
    Most positive reviews u’ll find on the internet are by people who don’t Offroad their Jeeps.
    You can get better shocks for the fraction of the price
    Sadly this is an overly advertised brand

      Honestly, save your money. You can fool yourself into "feeling a difference" with the butt dyno. However, the original works "ok" other than the minor steering effort difference from Left to Right turn (most don't even know this, you may now that I told you). If it bothers you, get the regular "through shaft". Don't bother with the adjustable ATS version. PS if you're steering is bad, there are other things which require fixing/correction. The stabilizer should be last on the list of suspension work.

      @@GevoA1 appreciate it we ended up buying one already but when I do the gladiator I'm gonna go with one of the cheaper options I would say there was definitely a difference with the teraflex one and I enjoy it but I'd be fine with the model down thats just the pass-through without adjustments

    • @GevoA1
      @GevoA1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dyzard43 Sorry, wish I was sooner lol . There is for sure a difference, but nothing to justify the price. I have the adjustable fox and don't see much of a difference really as the dampening is good, you almost only adjust the steering stiffness with the adjuster, which with larger tires, you almost always want on the loosest setting anyway. I've only set it higher on long highway trips. Off road wise, especially high speed, its on the softest as the factory electric power steering system is already bad enough lol. For all the crap people give Falcon shocks for being "off brand" or "not US made" I haven't seen any major failures from them. I just haven't seen them long term regarding the seals and the shaft hardness isn't the best, however, especially for a steering stabilizer, I don't see any issues. If I had to, I think I'd go with Falcon as you said instead of the Fox as well and save some cash.

    I would be more inclined to test the results if they used the same Test Vehicle, This method is going out of there way to fool people into thinking they will get more than what they will pay for for each upgrade.

    Fox shocks on a jeep wrangler- absolutely terrible! I bought a new JKU Willy’s in 2017 and the fox 2.0 lasted 1 week! Never experience such poor shocks! Driving over speed bumps at 3mph the rear would get airborne and crash back down!
    Driving on sand dunes it couldn’t climb anything!
    Obviously changed for Teraflex falcons and never looked back!
    Couldn’t even be dishonest enough to sell them- chucked the junk in the bin!

    A marketing exercise by Fox salesmen is not independent.

      Can't beat the peace of mind of driving around a 4runner. Sure, you gotta modify it more to put on bigger tires but aside from that, it's way better in terms of comfort, noise and reliability.
