    I have no clue what you're talking about, the last time I played CS:GO the voice chat was just as toxic as league's text chat, especially in ranked. It will actually just open up new avenues for people to whine and cry over vc, the only difference is when people start micspamming and earraping, they'll just flame you for not using vc when you mute them.
    I think the reason people think league's chat is more toxic is because not only the size of the playerbase but it's also easy to capture text chat in a text document or screenshot as composed to when someone starts screaming the N word over their microphone because who the hell is recording other than the average small streamer and youtuber.
    I honestly think it has to do with the type of game league is and the playerbase it's attracted.

    • @Polpete6969
      @Polpete6969 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that he had a point with voice lowering toxicity. when I play cs, I encounter roughly the same amount of bad characters, but the way they go about it is completely different. they can be irritating, but pruning them with mute usually eliminates all malicious intent from them- they still play just the same. in league, people will dodge, afk, int, ping spam, and do all manner of things to harass someone who they perceive as bad or controlling

    • @jefferyjones4727
      @jefferyjones4727 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Polpete6969 a voice chat won't fix that though, as pointed out in this video, people will still play that way in CS because you can still carry with raw skill, and regain a degree of control over the game. The worst that happens is when they start intentionally killing their own teammates, which still happens a lot and gets people barred from comp all the time. Not to mention the amount of people who whine and asked to be kicked from comp games when they're behind in game.
      In league, you see it a lot more because not only does the average person have less overall agency in their games but also in comparison to cs, league is a much more competitive game. You can leave a normal CS game at any time but in league a norm still has the same exact consequences as ranked aside from lp loss. This would lead to people intentionally trying to make a game ends quicker by throwing it rather than trying their hardest in a game that could last close to an hour.

    I played League from September to April and 1 game out of 3 was filled with toxicity, if you are starting from scratch you get toxicity from smurfs, if you are at level 84 like me and still do not understand the game then people think you are feeding 24/7, it's a hassle to try and learn your first moba while some randos spams pings on most games you play, so many people treat draft like if it's ranked, I can confirm that OW ranked was much much less toxic since it had a voice chat. The game itself is a ton of fun but having to deal with the pressure of the team on top of 140 champs to learn with like 4/3 abilities each, 200 items, roles, roaming, gank, distraction, bait, wave management... it's just too much, games like LoR or TFT (and possibly Project L in the future) are so much fun since there is depht to the game allowing to express your creativity thru your deck/team/combo, League is the same if not even better, but this toxic side just ruins this cool ass game, I really hope they reconsider putting voice chat in, putting that speak icon where there's the R team cooldown would help so much

    • @WoolLafleece
      @WoolLafleece 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Voice chat isn't what's making OW less toxic. It's hard to flame somebody for making a dumbass play when they're locked into first person view and can't see your score line, people are far more focused on their own gameplay and what's in front of them than league where you get time to check your laners, you can see what they're doing and the misplays they make, there's time to make all sorts of hindsight excuses and say 'if only this person was here or did this or took that but they didnt so they MUST be bad, and I have the time to tell them'
      If you add voice chat, all it does it remove the need for them to push enter and type the words. You get real time peanut gallery toxicity on an open mic.

      I'm lvl 64 and I'm witnessing toxic behavior and messages in all my games. Either it is one of my teammates, the enemy team being toxic in 'all-chat' or they just flame me. Even when there's 0 communication at all --> at the end of the match the winner team types: "ez, gg loosers, noobs", there are so many sick people out there. Knowing they do make this game so toxic because of anonymity doesn't really help. It still stays a toxic game and it always will. This is the reason why I stopped playing a month ago. I am no longer ready spending my free time with this community being so toxic for no good reason.

    This is dumb because there are game communities that are far more toxic than League. League has flippin mods and you can report stuff to at least. League just suffers from being popular, not being the most toxic.

    • @Lucyller
      @Lucyller 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It also suffer for being a pvp only game where hou HAVE to play with and against people compared to every other type of multiplayer game where you can almost skip the social part. You're never really stuck with 5-10 players in wow, terraria or Path of exile. each time it's a mostly solo experience that you can spice up with partying when lol force you to interact with others.

    • @thorn3000
      @thorn3000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll wager you have not played the game extensively, so let me chip in as somebody that's been there for years and years and thousands of hours and knows first hand how it works
      what mods? in the past reports were handled by actual humans, Tencent threw that down the drain long time ago because it didn't want to pay the wages on a team that does not bring direct income...yes you can report things, but the reports go to an automated system, this system considers the frequency you get reported at and then, despite the reporting option having like 6 categories, it only considers 2 categories - AFKing and bad stuff said in chat...because these 2 categories can be easily handled by an automatic system, unlike the other categories which would require human interaction...if you write bad words etc. in chat nothing happens, until a certain amount of people report you, then the system scans backs your chats in games, provides you 3 games where you were using swear words or language and issues you a restriction (or eventually if repeated as ban)...those bad words can be super mellow, as long as enough people reported you that is all they need...example I was only restricted from chat for saying "please report XYZ", since that guy was 10mins AFK and lost us the game, enough people reported me and I got that chat log as 'proof' of my wrongdoing...cus sup on my inquiry what is wrong with that, because every game I see that sentence written at least 5 times by different people, cus sup said it is "negative to ask to report people"...in other words, cus sup has no right/possibility whatsoever to overturn any ban the automatic system metes out...it is there just as a complain sponge (probably handle from india) to explain that the company did correct and you arte bad
      so, how do you avoid all of this trouble? all you have to do to avoid this, is to not type stuff in chat...I turned chat off completely, and then proceed to do the biggest troll gameplays in the game, making everyone super angry and every game in post-game lobby somebody tells me they have reported me, heck many times they report me already in pre-game lobby for stuff like refusing to communicate or hostage taking positions (I'm careful to write even there to not give the automatic ban bot any possibility to provide me any "chats" as proof, because - no chat = no proof = no ban)...did you think I ever received a single restriction since I turned chat off 3 years ago? no, no I didn't...they literally throw any reports against me down the thrash chute, nobody, no human ever looks at those, and the automatic system cant work with 0 chat logs and 0 afk-timers...outside of very rare cases of it either going public - such as streamers or a 0.1% highest ranked players with a following - nobody ever looks at reports...but if you are one of the 99%, no human will ever have as much as a glance at any reports you have done...unless the report is really for a bad chat OR an afk, so both things that can be auto-determined by bot handling reports, unless its those 2, the other 4 categories are completely ignored
      and Riot is well aware just how toxic the game is, mostly thanks to their own decision to save money on actual mods...proof of this is disabling inter-team chat enacted more recently...they just dont want to waste money policing things or building up a better more automated AI handling it...to them LoL is a milk cow, not something they want to invest in, all the players are a given, they dont feel the need to build a rapport with them as was done in the early days where Riot back then had to act in the interest of building up a reputation for LoL...all this has been dropped, now its milking until it eventually dies...they dont even use money from it back into LoL to improve it or employ people to moderate, they instead used the money to create another 3-4 games (TFT, LoR, WildRift, etc.)

    It isn't pointless, first of all you can not give your discord account to anyone in case of privasy. Second of all, such people as me, who have no money to afford gaming devices can't run two programs at the same time. If I run league and discord my fps will be at best around 20-30 with immense freezes.
    League voice is a good addition

    I agree with all, except the part where you can clutch a COD game. I have about 15k+ hours on bo2 (and I also played a lot of other cod just less hours); when your team suck compared to the other whatever how good you are you cant clutch them up, not only their killcount will go fast too quick but they'll also have scorestreaks that will most likely help them kill you or instantly kill you! Other than that great video learned a lot. Continue the grind on youtube you deserve more views!

    I played most competitive games and yes csgo is toxic but i don't even wanna imagine what lol voice chat would be. It would either be much much worse or no voice chat at all even if it's available cause the playerbase is so toxic (99% of the time toxic players are insecure misrable people) that they would still just wish cancer on your whole bloodline for 2 decades in chat instead than to say it.
    Every other competitive game is toxic but league... Only game where EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. has at least 1 player who you would wish would be afk on both teams. Instead they follow someone around for half an hour to handicap a person, in other games you just get teamkilled, the guy leaves the game and that's it. Only league players are so down bad, stupid, pathetic to spend a hour doing nothing but on purpose ruining others game why? cause their is already ruined, they probably live in the basement with their parents, have no job, friends, or borned into a rich family but still don't have a job, friends so the best they can do is play league 14 hours a day and brag about how they spent 1000$ on league skins that noone cares about. Good for you if you spent that much but how sad can one be to brag about that...
    Nothing comes even close to league and when i finally leave the rabbithole i couldn't be happier knowing these are all league players and will never go outside most likely, therefore i never ever in my life have to met with these rotting fertilizers called as League players. Everyone associated with league unless we are talking about someone who really just likes the game is toxic or not a decent human being. Even if you mute all you can still see those players who are really desperate to troll a whole game and you just wonder "what is wrong with this person" till you either become toxic yourself or delete the game for the better. Mute all not gonna help just tuck the issues under a blanket. It's even worse for newcomers who can't even lock the camera and decide to ask for help in chat, i know that cause i was that person 3 years ago, the only advice i got was to unalive myself and go outside (so i did go outside for walk cause honestly couldn't care less about league) so i went afk till the end of the game cause that was literally my first game ever and that person had a mental breakdown and insulted me in chat for half an hour while i was afk. I played a lot more ever since and the thing is that, this is every 2nd game. Also if you still gaslighting yourself that "achtually" the community is not so bad cause league players tend to do that on reddit to assure themselves they are not human garbage and "Dota is far worse anyway" (it's not btw, played 2 games had no clue how to even use a single ability and noone said anything other than GG at the end of the game in voicechat) , then why every single person who plays league says they hate the game. Exactly.
    Also very important, only game i have witnessed any and unfortunatelly many more occasions of literal groming, deathwishes and many other things that are basically illegal IN GAME CHAT.

    Copy paste from my Reddit comment:
    League is the only game in over 20 years of gaming I had to uninstall because of the community. Ive read some of the most heinous despicable stuff imaginable.
    The most toxic player I ever encountered said things I wouldnt even dare to type, things that would get anyone in a watch list. I was 100% sure this person would get perma banned because it was some of the most appalling leathsome stuff Ive ever read in my life. And I mean charles manson level of psycho.
    Ive never engaged with these people, but my friends added them and they told me this person never got even a chat restriction. They are probably playing to this day.
    League used to have a Justice System (or whatever it was called) in the early years, reports were anonymous but readily available so the whole community had a direct action against toxicity. Since Riot removed it they never did anything at all to try and stop the toxicity.
    Most of other online games Ive played have software that detects in real time what the person is typing and can turn their chat off right on the spot. With the stuff I had to read across all the games I played, I think this should be mandatory in any online game.

    So I fully disagree with the basis of voice chat being the reason the game is toxic, but I also disagree that League is the most toxic game and community.
    I challenge you to play 3 games of Heroes of the Storm and take a running tally of the amount of times people tell you to kill yourself, say outright slurs, or abusively ping all game because they have a visible icon showing that they have been chat muted by the automated report investigation system. Take note too of how many people on both teams are chat muted, which requires some sort of banned word or phrases with multiple reports to trigger.
    And consider too, that HotS doesn't have cross team chat. The only people your team CAN be toxic to is their own team, they can't even vent on the other side.
    The only genuine solution to removing toxicity is /mute all, and mute pings of people who misuse the system, not adding a whole new way for people to express hatred and anger. Voice chat won't solve more problems than it will make, and will be harder for automated systems to do a fast check on. A bot can scroll a chat log to easily pick up slurs, voice detection requires a lot more effort that isn't reasonable in a game with over a hundred million players.

    i think if league added voice chat the game would become less toxic for people whos voice can pass as a white man. but for girls or people with noticeable accents or dialects of any kind, it would likely get worse. i think voicechat would be a good idea, but maybe limited to master+. that or riot would have to take voicechat reports VERY seriously, and have some way to record what people said in a match.

    Hey there. Actually this is one of the things keeping me up at night. Look at rocket leauge, they implemeneted voice chat and the game has already become so much less toxic. Underrated creator.
