i wonder if she ever rode horses and that might have help with balance. if so she might have been better off only standing on the pedals like the stirrups of on a horse. she must have a good sense of balance to pick it uip so quickly.
But how pathetic of her to continually excuse her being useless by saying 'I forgot my glasses' like a pathetic Scooby Doo Velma. Inspired by Victoria, aged 43, I'm finally having a cycling lesson this month! As a dyspraxic my balance made it impossible, so fingers crossed it goes well.
Try to relax, it’s a lot easier than when you’re tense. If you’re tense, you over-correct too much. Riding is actually smoother than walking, so maybe your dyspraxia won’t hinder you as much as you fear it will. You can do it. Will you come back and tell us how you made out?
Fellow dyspraxic, just wanted to add to help positive thoughts and overcome the stereotype. I was able to learn to ride a bike probably took longer than most people but it’s doable. Keep your head up and don’t look at your feet, look where you are aiming to be, practise pedalling on a stationary bike so you’ve got the motion of pedalling understood already. Good luck 🤞
Also she got absolutely conned in that jingle task. She's definitely one of those contestants who always gets massively underscored by Greg and ends up in last place as a result, when they're not actually bad at tasks, same for Hugh Dennis
@@SpaceSoups I think you’d be the third to second the second, and the second to second the third. What I see, though, is a glaring absence of anyone fourthing. If you’d like to fourth it, I’ll second you.
One of the final tasks of theirs is to create the best proposal for Alex Horne and Victoria did the worst proposal on that task because she felt that proposing to someone regardless of whether it is a fake proposal, would have been disrespectful to David and that she is so besotted with him that she wouldn't - and that is just freaking adorable 💕💕💕
At the time I didn’t know who her husband was so I thought he might be a really controlling, Alpha male whose ego would be bruised by her proposing to someone else.😅
I think my favorite line of Victoria’s is after the first task of the season, hitting Alex with a ball, her saying, with the utmost indignation, “THAT…is the most exercise I’ve done since I was in SCHOOL!” It’s such a soft jab, but you can hear just how strongly she feels it!
I've been skating for over 30 years but I too have never learned to ride a bike. This did make me want to get a BMX and learn though. She picked it up so quickly! She's so smart, but so impractical. Big brain, no normal skills lol. She is dead sweet though, this season made me absolutely adore her. Greg was so mean to her too, and I love how awkward she is.
I love VCM in Taskmaster because it’s kinda like you get to watch her warm up to the show. In the beginning she’s not too sure but by the end she’s pretty happy
Her father was a kind of genius, in his own way. Strongly recommend his treatise on the creative benefits of alcohol, "Careful Mr. Beethoven, that's your fifth".
As a Dutch person the bike task is hilarious. One hand impossible........haha try no hands on the steer, eating a sandwhich and somehow still capable of making turns. But seriously Victoria did great for a first time.
I honestly would have refused the phone call challenge. That is soul torment right there. My best bet would have been to call my mom, but our conversations are never tv appropriate. XD
I still don't entirely get the drinking with your mouth open task. Either the whole point was to make them overthink it or it's a skill that I've mastered entirely by accident, but I find that to be an incredibly easy thing to do.
I remember watching that task when it was live on TV, and I actually got a glass of water to try it for myself - and I'm with Victoria I'm afraid :/. When it comes to swallowing your mouth just naturally closes... right?! Mine does anyway, and that appears to be the norm. I have no idea how you guys do it!
I'm with you on this. As long as your tongue is right you can drink. I think part of it is from learning to chug a pint of water from an early age. Then there's the "after dentist numbness I hope I don't bite my lip" method of swallowing. Or drinking from the kitchen tap with your mouth open and head sideways. Not being able to drink this way is unexpected.
I felt the same way. I can easily drink with my mouth open. It's already open, you just don't close your lips around whatever you're drinking out of. I never thought of it as hard to do.
I would have crushed that last task. Marching band has made me an expert at consuming large amounts of fluids in a short amount of time with my mouth open
noone I wouldn’t call it vital. But more often than not we wouldn’t have proper breaks, we would have “Gush ‘n’ Go’s” where you have like 2 minutes to get as much water as you can. And it’s faster to just lift up my 2 gallon jug above me and swallow as it pours into my mouth
This would've been so easy 😂 I would've called tele-health because ethey have scripted responses and you can pretty well say anything to them. Or my mother, this would have been a normal every day conversation with my mother lol
Hardly a suitable bike to learn on! Seat needs to be right height on a normal geometry bike. Legs can then be straighter etc. aids balance. She did so well considering the BMX bike.
Seen the bit several times, but only now noticed that when Victoria put her letter into the mailbox, the flag was up but even though her hand came nowhere near it, as she rode off the flag was down. Being unfamiliar with American mail boxes, British viewers probably wouldn't notice but to Americans that's a blatant continuity error.
If this was the 90s all over again I’d say stuff like ‘she would ‘ave it!’ Or ‘Victoria Coren Mitchell? Victoria Phwoar-en Mitchell more like!’. But I realise this is not the 90s and one has to be careful what they say. Maybe the upcoming Oasis gigs will make it the 90s again!
I’m confused about the drinking one. Have these people never glugged a drink before. Just don’t breathe and constantly swallow with your mouth open. It’s easy and stops you from tasting what you’re drinking.
Mad respect for learning how to ride a bike on national television (and picking it up pretty quick honestly!)
i wonder if she ever rode horses and that might have help with balance. if so she might have been better off only standing on the pedals like the stirrups of on a horse. she must have a good sense of balance to pick it uip so quickly.

Her little “whyyyy” when Alex says she won’t get to see the dog might just be the most adorable thing ive ever seen
Victoria learning to ride a bike is one of the most wholesome moments in the history of taskmaster!
Wrong 10 letter word starting with T... I guess that also makes it one of the most wholesome taskmaster moments by proxy, but still.
You can definitely feel throughout that she and David are meant for each other
Imagine a dinner evening with them.
They compliment each other very well. David is kinda a shit disturber and Victoria doesn’t really take any of the assorted disturbed shit

Hugh's attempts at being clever with the tasks were his undoing. He wasn't being underscored, he effectively sabotaged his own attempts.
It wasn't a jingle. A jingle is a short song or line of music.
Greg didn’t say he “didn’t like this kind of attitude as a rule”
Rhod Gilbert was always over scored
