I like when a true nerd of the show does well.
I like contestants who are obsessed with Taskmaster because they are so relatable.
@@sveniusz he's literally me frfr
I thought Ed Gamble was the biggest Taskmaster nerd to ever be allowed to participate, but John Robbins showed us that Gamble is a mere pretender.
@@StarkRGGamble is a fan who often got too panicked to apply his knowledge 😅 John is a proper nerd, with spreadsheets and tactics 🤓
John makes a great counterfoil to the ones who jump straight in & cause total chaos. I always prefer itvwhen there's a mix of both types - makes it much more entertaining.
Plus, he has a great dry sense of humour & doesn't take himself too seriously
Agreed, it's the mix and the contrast between contestants that makes for the best series. And honestly, they do a great job at creating that mix.
"The baby carrier doesn't have to remain on me."

I think everyone should know that the back to back hateful comments on John are most likely the same person. That being said, I loved this series. John rocked
He was so much fun to watch because we knew he really wanted to win.
Definitely one of the best series. Steve Pemberton’s surrealism, John’s quiet wit and sharp mind (plus his devotion to Queen). Nick’s sweetness and magic, Sophie’s endearing ineptitude that ultimately triumphed, and Joanne’s Rhod Gilbertesque attitude. My favourite contestant varied with each episode.
I normally find the ineptitude more of a bother than a boon, but to say Sophie wore it well is an understatement. Utterly charming. I love how this show turns [for me as an American] the contestasnts from unknown to warmly regarded, to a one.
He's so damn good at the game he actually has haters like a real sportsman. Great work, John.
Oh, no sweetie. People don't dislike him because he was good at the game. People dislike him because he was boring, unfunny, uninteresting and unentertaining.
@@caesarvolz6945 keep hatin', baby.
@@caesarvolz6945 He wasn't any of those things
@@MrSpannners Yeah, I wasn't under the impression everyone agreed.

So glad Taskmaster introduced me to Johnny JR Robins! One of my favorite contestants, and now I have hours (nay, years) of excellent podcasts to listen to.
Oh mate, I envy you getting to listen to them all for the first time, have fun becoming a retro oner!
I don't understand why apparently people hate him..... he simply watched previous episodes whereas most contestants seem oblivious to the format.
People hate him?! I LOVE someone who does their homework and research before a new experience!! Nerd recognizes nerd, I suppose. 🤣
John was great in this series. Him speaking slowly so Alex couldn't interrupt him was so funny.
The winners of the next few series better be really on their games, because I will be very shocked if John doesn't take the next Champion of Champions episode!
He seems like a nice guy, and I don't know him well enough to hate him like some of the viewers here. But my favorite was Nick Mohammed - funny, a gentleman and just a renaissance man.
hate is a strong word but tryharding isn't the real point of the show. Sarah Kendall for example was fine but despite winning she was not the standout of season 11. That was Mike Wozniack.
@@ObscureReference9 I feel like the point of the show is just to put comedians in entertaining situations, regardless of whether they're trying to win or not. I found John Robins to be pretty entertaining and, personally, I like when there are at least 1 or 2 people actively trying to do well as it highlights the other people who are either just trying to get through the tasks or are totally lost.
@@Baldthazar the first point is correct and john speedran through most tasks looking for wins not comedy. if you enjoyed him then fine but most didn't
@@ObscureReference9 so you decided that you speak for "most" and your opinion is theirs? Is there a poll or study or is it just based on your arrogance? For a start, it's pretty clear that you need both kinds of contestants. All John's or all Nicks would be very boring.
Beside all that, Nick was likable, but rarely funny. John had FAR more laughs in the Studio from audience, Greg and the others, which proves you just wrong (laughing=enjoyment). Sophie was by far the funnier of the two low scoring people. She had this chaotic and creative energy in tasks, while Nick was just ...bad at them.
Laughing AT Nick but WITH Sophie. And occasionally about John.
@@Thisandthat8908 some arguments are close and could go either way. but this one isn't gonna go yours. the comments, the likes, other social medias all do the polls for you these days. and as for the comment about needing both? oh lets just check in on season 7 the hands down best season (i dare you to say i'm speaking for everyone on that) and tell me who the try hard was.
Alexs face in the load bearing clip is that of a man whose getting sick of constantly being outwitted by john in the tasks😂
They're also close friends in real life so I think he gets it all the time 😂
It was a long time coming, but worth every minute. PCDs are proud of you JJR.
8:15 I love that they played to John's obsessive competitiveness a few times like this. This would have a been a fav moment of Elis' I'm sure.
there was an episode of their podcast a short while ago where they talk about it. And Sophie Willan was a guest.
And yes, these moments didn't go unnoticed.
I love that he was so good that they decided to screw with him just to make it more fun
The man who beat Dara in scores ! I kind of want a Robins vs. Ò Briain match-up now.
If he wins his Champion of Champions, maybe he can be on Champion of Champion of Champions whenever they've done 25 series!
I fell in love with John Robins watching this series.
Same.
Do you also love plain white toast and still water?😂he’s the most dull, boring contestant they’ve ever had on the show
me too
@@Dwarfo123 shut up you drunk.
@@Dwarfo123 this coming from the guy who couldn't think of enough insults so just called him dull twice
Intelligence and humor goes well together.
With a huge thanks to Nick and Sophie ;)
Was nice to see John controlling his truer self here and enjoying it! Another great series and cast!
i find Nick vastly overrated on the entertainment front. Sophie had this creative, chaotic and confused energy. Nick was just bad at most tasks. And John had far more laughs in the studio than Nick.
If i had to chose to whose comedy gig/show/program to go, Nick would be in last place of the 5.
And not just because of Mr.Swallow.
@@Thisandthat8908 mr Swallow is awesome tho! :o
@@Thisandthat8908good it’s an ensemble cast then…?
"It's not measured in monkeys, mate" killed me lol
I absolutely love everyone of this season, every one of them for very different reasons!!!! Thanks you for making me happy! :)
Winning all but one of the team tasks certainly helped. Would be good to see what Dara end up on if he had a decent team.
Love John Robbins. Been waiting ages to see him on taskmaster. I miss bad golf though!
For my money this was the best season yet. Despite not being familiar with any of the contestants beforehand they all pretty much instantly appealed to me in one way or another. John and Joanne were standouts, and a special nod to Steve for his crossword prize task.
Taskmaster effect is so real! It doesn't matter how unknown a contestant is or how negative my presumptions/bias; by the finale I love them all ^___^
Loved this series so much and knew Johnny JR would win as soon as he was announced because he is 1. Friends with Alex and thinks in a similar way. 2. Utterly obsessive to the point where he made his bad golf channel obselete because he stopped being bad.
I knew he would win and I couldn't care less, because he is also hilarious.
I love all the guys in this series. I love John because I listen to his show every week. He is very clever indeed and it doesn't surprise me hewon. Nick Mohammed is one of the nicest men ever and also very talented. I loved everyone!
John Robins was so good!
I cannot wait the next few years for a CoC!
Love us a competent king
He's great. Such a fun competitor.
Gotta love it when intelligence and competence is on display
the craziest thing is in the tension task the first thing i thought was “i would hug alex” and i got to live vicariously through john
Would love to see a series/ new year's treat pitting the most shamelessly competitive contestants against each other - Dara, Ed Gamble, Ian Sterling, Ivo Graham, John Robins and Rhod Gilbert
John was the only one of the five I knew, and he not only won, but somehow managed to beat Dara.
Wait, what?
@@JLF201 Yeah, he beat Dara's record of most points earned in a series. By 8 points.
1:44 she has a hella deep voice. Love it!
Johnny JR is the GOAT ❤❤❤
Scrolling through the comments... why are so many people so genuinely angry at a silly TV show they don't have to watch (especially not again in this clip show if you didn't like the show in full)?
The most baffeling thing is it seems people are angry at completely different contestants and parts of the show. So it's not even joining a hateful internet mob. It's people coming to a clip video of a silly panel show just to be angry. Why? 😅😅
Because some sad people have nothing better to do with their lives than be miserable and spread hate, I really do feel bad for them and I hope they get better
Very true
And thank goodness.
I honestly don't think he could have borne it if he hadn't - never mind the possibility of his not winning the series championship!! Phew!!!
Love John.
“Sex sells, John” 🤣🤣🤣
Definitely was in it to win it and did his homework. By no means my favourite contestant but he's overtaken Dara as the best Task solver in the show for me
JR is totally amazing! Can't wait to see what he's up to next!
I wish I was 40 years younger (and female) I would be chasing him all over the UK! 🙋♂️👏👋❤️😍😉💖
Glad John Won!
He looked more like Bob's burgers instead of Freddie 😂
it’s the lack of a chin.
OMG lol
Joanna is gorgeous
0:29 true dat 😂
"I'll have to interrupt you physically" :D
Sophies uselessness at the bottle tossing kills me
For anyone who enjoys golf you may enjoy Bad Golf, John and Alex's YT channel form few years ago.

Is the vampire nick mohammed?
i need someone to make accurate inflation calculations and see how they all stack up then

DIAMOND DOGS!!!
John Robins kind of reminds me of Mae Martin
As in they have no personality and let down their whole series?🤔they both got the personality of a wet slice of rye bread
@@Dwarfo123 "oh no, one person is taking it seriously the whole series is ruined!"
Fucking iPad babies
@@Dwarfo123 Nah, they were both great. Mae came with the competitive genius energy and John seemed like a genuinely nice guy who was probably a diehard fan (like the rest of us) before he ended up on it, so fair play.
@Dwarfo123 as in they are both GOATs
Is it me or does it feel like even though he won he is the one who fades a bit into the background in comparion of the rest of the cast. I have had that feeling with some other winners of other series but this one really stands out to me.
Well, there are people who do well, and people who are entertaining, and sometimes, if you're lucky, there's an overlap.
Well John is both a huge fan of the show & close friends with Alex so he got the gist of the tasks more often than not taking a lot of the "look at the silly comedian doing silly things" out of it that we got expertly from others. It's not a negative in any way, it just formed this narrative of him just being there to do well.
Love John been watching him and Alex's golf channel for a few years now and he is a ridiculously competitive fella so no surprise
Lol he stood out as someone who fades and was forgettable🖕 words :)
I mean his humour doesn't really fit the show tbh.
He's in my top 10 taskmaster contestants of all time ❤
Why do so many haters watch this great show? It's sad this show can't make them happy.
Ehh, I have to admit, I never finished watching this season. I just noticed that I didn't really care anymore.. none of the contestants did it for me and I could barely remember their names even. I liked Nick though, but he was just overwhelmingly nice and even that got on my nerves (I dislike this whole trend where everything needs to be 'wholesome'.. I miss a bit of edginess). But to be honest, I think I've just kind of had too much TM, I feel it would be better if there was 1 season each year, it seems like a never ending train now and I feel things are getting a bit stale for my liking.
@@Renzsu Bro just take a fucking break from watching the show???
Love John! Elis next!
lol I never thought fans would actually be upset over who scores what or who wins taskmaster. It’s a comedy show first, the scoring isn’t really all that important in the grand scheme of why it’s so popular.
He was one of my favorite contestants on Taskmaster.
I have a man crush on him
I think John should be given Russel's "Call me when I'm needed" catch phrase.
just saying as a canadian that has never been to the UK. is it ever just mildly sunny or is it just dark shades of grey in your skies.... cause it may explain a lot about british character....bland food, alcohol''is a spice'' , and bad teeth( like you don't need to ever smile really).
just joking no hate hear.
great show.
Also realize he gets points based on who he is competing against. If he had played against other contestants it could definitely gone differently in other tasks.
If my grandma had wheels, she'd be a bicycle.
@@ilikeexxsYes, Gino.
Most of the cast of series 17 was pretty lousy, which made it easier for John to get four or five points per task. Anyway, I had loads of fun watching the series, and particularly enjoyed Steve Pemberton and Joanne McNally.
standard tasks aside, Steve Pemberton is the best prize task contestant ever by a country mile
@@danielurban3416 Agree
@@danielurban3416 I dunno. Rhod Gilbert's repeated unflatting photo subverted by ultra creepy sleep-snooping and Greg's mom in a fez in the bath is the stuff of absolute legend
Everyone is saying he’s the most boring winner but I disagree he was good fun, Mae Martin was far duller
I have to disagree that he was good fun (but then that's a personal taste thing and comedy is subjective) but will agree that Mae Martin was far duller
Did Kerry Godliman have some sort of horrific accident?
no views im so early 😭
3:23 lmaoo it's so obvious he's seen the real task but pretended he hasn't for the entertainment i suppose
take your meds lmao
He’s the highest-scoring contestant, and I like him, but he’s nowhere near the greatest contestant.
Edit: @ Alexandru and everyone who has liked their cretinous reply, look at the title *card*.
The title says succesfull not the greatest, so I don't see your point. 😊
He's objectively the greatest no matter what you think 😊
Points are given out by Greg Davies, the Taskmaster. Greg has awarded John the most points out of any contestent, therefore John is the greatest contestent according to the Taskmaster, which - as we all know - is the only opinion that matters here.
@@Scuuurbs ok, but Nick Mohammed got more than e.g. Rob Beckett (winner of season 3). So I think it's fair to say, the points don't stay at the same value
@@OhMyGodGiveMeAName so what you’re saying is, we aren’t accounting for pointflation.
Perhaps Greg has gotten soft as the seasons progressed, giving out more points for ties and group tasks, so that the the average number of points earned per season has increased.
Even in the sphere of comedians who are in general very bright and very competitive John is very bright and very competitive and also particularly highly organised, and careful in his planning - a problem I guess to myself is I don't find him all that charming or engaging
He’s like a more competitive but less witty/snarky Richard Ayoade. They would be an infallible team, but no one would want to watch (apart from me, at least, I’d love that level of smug cleverness)
😂😂😂 so funny! He’s the made-up winner because Greg makes up points hysterical!
😬 Love these guys - do support them please
Man sure is strange how every comment shitting on this guy is from completely fresh accounts lmao
Yeah I think it might be the same obsessed person
Certainly the most desperate
I don’t hate him he was just boring. Not funny. He took winning too seriously. It is a comedy show.
Where on earth or possibly not did they get Sophie from? She’s definitely not the brightest bulb on the tree is she? So stupid it makes you angry.
She means well though :D
She's a fantastic Bafta nominated writer and has done a lot to highlight the stories of care leavers and sex workers in her life, what have you done
I actually didn't find John Robbins particularly entertaining. He seemed super keen to just win every task, with little thought to making it entertaining. I think of Ed Gamble, for example, who was also super competitive, and obviously really wanted to win, but it seemed like he put consideration into striking a balance between entertainment and competitiveness, and if an idea was dull, he'd scrap it. John didn't seem to have that consideration, and therefore was a comparatively dull and forgettable contestant. Put it this way - despite easily winning the series, he was the least-good cast member.
Like that time Ed tried to make a waterslide for a duck and tried for an hour with no change of plan until he eventually gave up, killed the rubber duck, and buried it?
He was good, BUT and it’s a huge BUT is not and nowhere near the greatest contestant.
Who would you say was the greatest?
@@20storiesunder see that depends on your taste, I for one like the chaotic contestants, but others like the game players,
winning challenges isn't the point of a comedy show and John was the least funny of the 5 this season by far.
It is the point of a task based gameshow, though, so...
@@michaelholdsworth luckily this isn't a task based game show. it's a comedy show with no actual prizes except exposure for your comedy.
Genuinely, I listened to his off menu episode and he is also incredibly boring there, he is an ex-alcoholic tho so maybe his neurons are just fried at this point

His series of Taskmaster was OK. Probably the show's weakest, and John was a big reason why.
