i AGREE with the fact that parenthood should've been an expansion pack. i wish they would've made that an expansion pack, then added the toddler stuff and kids room stuff in, and expanded more on toddler and children gameplay. and yes with seasons!! i love seasons, but i MISS the festivals that Sims 3 had! and if i'm being honest, i find some of the holidays to be annoying, such as "talk like a pirate" day or "neighborhood brawl" day. i'd much rather have the major ones, then some of the smaller ones like new years eve, etc. and have festivals! that was one of my favorite things about Sims 3!
See I loved Island Paradise but I don’t think I’ll ever really play University, it just takes too long 😩 my sim is half way to death by the time they finished and also probably because I wasn’t even that fussed about university pack to begin with, only got it cause it was 50% off 😂

@@accidentman101 I know a lot of them are honest. I'm just singling out Plumbella because she is the one I watch the most. Also, I can think of a few GCs that sugarcoat a lot of their criticisms until way after a pack is released and then they drop their hard truths.
It's kind of sad that even when you get to the top five - THE TOP FIVE - you're still saying "I'm just not that impressed." or "It falls a bit short." I completely agree. Even the packs that I love, and can't play without (Get Together and Seasons), I do find myself often saying "I wish there was just a bit....idk... *more* to this. That's basically Sims 4 in a nutshell at this point.

If you start adding up the cost of all of the packs, it's astonishing how much it is. I do enjoy the new gameplay of a new pack, but it's really a lot of $$$ when at the end of the day, you're still playing the same game.
Seriously... I got City Living at 50% about a year ago... and that's still my only pack. So many of them are appealing but I know for a fact that there's hella things that would get on my nerves because it's all half-baked.
Apart from the original game (I ordered the superlimited edition 100euros, dont judge I was young and didnt know what would it be) I bought everything from 50% to 75% or even 90% discounts. Mostly 75%. Sorry EA but I will spend all my money only in the sims 1 expansion packs
I was surprised by how much I liked Get Together. I got it on whim during one of EA's sales and absolutely love it. I have a family club for members of my legacy family and they have weekly family dinners at the main house. The expansion just makes socialization in the sims a lot easier and more enjoyable.
and Honestly the world is gorgeous, you can do so much with it if you get rid of the original buildings if they are not your thing and then you end up with a secluded island, rural village, modern downtown and town centre areas. Also cafes and nightclubs (they fixed them for bg later but real nightclubs are still only with GT) are such a main feature, I often use cafes for dates and nightclubs for my young adults.

Sims 4 is basically "How can we reintroduce a feature while downgrading it and how can we seperate features from previous Sims 2-3 expansion packs to sell multiple packs in this iteration" Wait for them to make a seperate resort game pack which was in the island pack of sims 3 and was already a detailed feature

It does feel that way. Why weren’t Toddler Stuff and Kids Room Stuff absorbed into Parenthood? And aren’t Perfect Patio and Backyard Stuff basically the same stuff pack - couldn’t that have just been one, or absorbed into seasons?
Zoe Thomson great example. Another one is Get Famous and City Living. Those 2 were just combined as Late Night in Sims 3 but instead they divided it into two whole expansion packs. The city in late night was huge, and there are hardly any improvements to the fame system from Late Night to Get Famous. Did not warrant 2 expansion packs.
Liz I see your point, but remember it was one of the first stuff packs, coming out years before Seasons. I can agree that some of the releases are a bit piecemeal, where it seems some things they do are to fill gaps and plug holes in earlier packs ... namely My First Pet Stuff.
@@MagicalAuroraDream The problem with First pet stuff is that it REQUIRES the Pets expansion. Everytime I see what gives me I am shocked it costs MONEY and is not in the expansion in the first place. You can see others stuff pack as in cheaper version of xyz at least

Liz I see your point. Either they didn't plan very well or, more cynically, they planned things exactly as they happened for more money in EEA's pockets. I don't know what to say. I'm sad TS4 is not more like TS3. Then again, at least there aren't those gobs of store contents. It's kind of nice, too, that TS4 stuff packs come with some gameplay objects that are new, but I still don't quite know how I feel about the whole system.

I have all the expansions on PC but only pets for PS4 and lemme tell u, they’ve been adding hella stuff from the expansions into the base game, especially the last week.
I feel as if most of the packs should've just come free with the game. EA are basically ripping us off by this point since it was meant to be a life simulator and the base game doesn't even come close. We're not made of money so it's just pretty disappointing as a whole.
I still hope they release a farm pack with horses and fields of crops and stuff because I think it'll be so much fun to play with. Imagine a massive legacy family in a new sized lot like 70x70 (idk). Edit: thx for the likes
ooga booga well even if its not an open world they could focus on the horse training aspect and make horse training competitions like the sims 3. horses aren’t only about riding them around town
Honestly, I’d rather have EA not rush through packs if we could actually have completely fleshed out ideas. We’re always left, asking for more. I think that all packs could use an overhaul (like fixing bugs that have been in the game for literally years) which is a lot to ask but still. These packs are not cheap and we shouldn’t be paying for the half-thought content we get sometimes.
@Axel Drans oh totally. I just wish I could play with all the pack in the one go. This is way off topic but One thing that really irritates me is that every sims 4 pack that gets released, there's glitchs and issues with every single one of them. One of the reasons why I hate buying a pack.
I used to use Sims 4 to make sure I went to bed on time. I kid you not, I would always fall asleep after a few hours if I played with my laptop on my bed
My biggest, and biggest issue with sims 3. Is that my Sims 3 isn't even as stable as my Sims 4 with mods. My computer isn't a potato either. I run Skyrim on ultra 2k graphics with almost 150 mods. What I have no idea about is why my Sims 3 with 2 mods and some CAS cc just completely loads, and plays, so, damn, slow. I need to figure out how to get better graphics and better overall stability in my sims 3.
@@seanstults1271 that's weird... I had the same issue until I moved the game files to an external hard drive and it runs amazingly. My computer isn't that powerful but it can play a fair deal of games and manage fine. That's really weird, there just might be something your computer doesn't like about the files or something when it's mixed with cc and mods
one thing i will say about sims 4 packs: i'm glad we don't have stuff like the llama bringing you the university signup stuff and the time machine appearing in the garden any more
At this point I don't think it's really necessary to criticize every pack one by one. Even if the Sims team would fix every issue you listed, the game still would lack depth, detail and innovation. I've given up on Sims 4, it's lost.
ConfusedCat There was a community survey this month that hinted at some really cool relationship changes, like sims finding it harder to become friends after a big fight, or sims having a preferred activity with a specific friend like “brunch buddies”, and I think that’s exactly the kind of depth the game lacks right now. Although the survey did also allude to a winter holiday pack which would no doubt be just as shallow and contentless as the rest of them 🙄
Yeah, I was at that point of hateing the game, too. Quite often even. Though I have to admit, there is something that actually made my love for the sims beeing reborn and it was the modders. What EA is too stupid to do, real creative people that are worth supporting are already doing. Can't play the sims without mods anymore. And I have to admit, I'm more playing with the mods than the acctual game. But I'm okay with that now. I look at it that way: the sims is just a platform for many awsome mods to be played. And it's doing a good job at that. :)
Bless you for rating Vampires this high, it's definitely one of my favorites too, hah. To be honest, it kinda got me into liking vampires in the first place... there's so much you can do with them?? Also, Forgotten Hollow is just a really nice looking town, its only drawback is the size, as I do wish I could place and build more than just a couple of buildings there. There are also just a whole lot of hidden details here and overall I love it. Also, GET TOGETHER!! THANK YOU. It's such an underrated pack!! The world is huge, the club system is very versatile, plus there's the whole familiar European vibe (specifically Germany, based on experience). Which is great, especially when most of the worlds look so dang American instead.

I know people say they have different views on this game but I’ve had it for a few months and I really enjoy playing it honestly. The last sims game I played was the ones on PS2. I don’t remember which one it was, but I still love the games like I did back then. I guess it’s the fact that the players can live a life they normally couldn’t irl. I dunno but I really enjoy sims 4.

I have all of the packs. I'm 30. I remember growing up, I could afford like one expansion a year for sims 1 and 2. Sims 3 I was a broke student. So, now I go all out. I hate my first pet stuff. Blah
The whole time I watched this I thought, wow every single one of these packs are empty and fall short. We give EA too much credit and grace in how horrible they have been with content. I feel robbed honestly. I can think of features and items that should have been included for every pack but just wasn't. Money grabs. All of em.
PARENTHOOD might be my absolute favorite pack generations was my favourite in sims 3. I like families ridiculously huge familie. Raising screaming toddlers to very skilled well rounded sims is one of my favorite things to do in the sims.
i miss sims 3 generations so much :( prom, learning to drive (lol we don't even have cars in ts4), throwing parties when the parents go out of town.... best pack
Unpopular opinion: I love strangerville. I love the aesthetic, I love the weirdness, I love the build and buy. I don’t think I ever even use pets or get to work.
It’s sad because in TS2 I very rarely played families without pets, it just felt incomplete without them. But in TS4 pets are SO irritating, they’re constantly scratching around needing a wee despite being toilet trained, they need to be walked every 5 minutes (and a short walk takes 4 hours) and every time I load a family the pet has got some mad, red nose, rainbow shits disease. Nope, no pets for any of my TS4 families. I do like the Cats & Dogs BB and world though, I love the country/New England style. And I completely agree with you on Strangerville - I love the sci-fi Area 51 feel!
Zoe Thomson wow. absolutely SAME. in the sims 2 and 3?? i LOVED pets. they were my absolute favorite thing. in the sims three? 9/10 times i would get horses and ride them around. i was absolutely in love with them. finding out that there weren’t going to be horses in the sims 4 broke my heart. and sims 4 pets are always fucking sick, like you said. i hate them. they’re annoying and require too much attention 24/7
FINALLY someone agrees that cats and dogs isn’t that good! Sims 3 was so amazing with details for everything. When I got cats and dogs I was very underwhelmed and disappointed with it.
Agree. Also traits like "loyal", "affectionate" and "friendly" made both pets stupidly clingy. Of course such traits would make easier to befriend, but wanting to be pet all the time is super frustating. I have an affectionate cat in real life and she follows me everywhere I go but that doesn't stops her love her owns space or quirks.

Danyzta I also feel as though seasons is a little overrated. I miss the snow depth and I really miss putting up lights on your house in the sims 3. I appreciate and love that the sims team brought great things to the sims 4, but recently it feels although they have been slacking or just not putting enough thought in long-term gameplay

Change the screen size and textures and the graphics are👌. I have been using the wayback machine web to download CC. Adding careers and gameplay moods is so good, if modders where able to make other actions into the gameplay I wouldn't ever come back
I actually forget how bland The Sims 4 is without mods. If I hadn’t discovered mods I would’ve stopped playing the game many years ago as there was just no depth and nothing to keep me interested in the sim family I was playing.

Gonna have to disagree with you about Discover University. I was super excited about it when it came about, but then I played it for more than half an hour and realised just how repetitive it is. The entire game is just constant cramming for exams, and then, if you're lucky enough to have any free time, it's just mediocre clubs with barely any autonomy or activities and rabbit hole soccer games. It feels like a half complete game to me - almost as if it's a demo that's been leaked. It's just so boring. 🤷♀️
That is the impression I got watching LPs and why I never bought it. And I absolutely loved TS3 university because it seemed to have a lot of stuff but also more time to do it between learning. I am already stressed cramming for my real life exams, I don't need in-game exams to stress me out too 😅
11:10 "the sims team needs to learn that we want meaningful family gameplay" dude I've been going on about this for like 8 years (not sure about 8 years, but at least since the end of sims 3 era so probably 2013 and someday soon that will have been 8 year ago so-) but I never experienced ts3 generations so I can't talk about ts3, but I can talk about ts2. I do know that ts3 generations brought some more meaningful family gameplay, but still I feel that both ts3 and 4 are lacking a bit compared to ts2. ts3 not necessarily in general family activites or parent interactions (like I said I didn't have generations and didn't play ts3 that much so I have little memory of it) but I still feel that both of those younger games lacked something I found important in ts2, and that is a bigger/deeper concept of childhood. I might be incorrect about sims 3 but I've been explaining why like 3 times already so don't call me out- In the sims 4 (and probably some sims 3 but god I can't remember) there isn't much that reminds of childhood when you play with children, and by children I mean I'm including toddlers and teens too. For example, you don't see your teen taking some time to play with their younger siblings (cough cough because playing without toys doesn't exist in the sims anymore cough cough wow I can't believe I just unironically cough coughed), and kids barely have any interactions with toddlers. While teens can for some reason care for them like 100 percent adults? I mean, you go from a hardly interactive toddler to a child that is- I dont even know- and then you're a teen and then suddenly you're no different from an adult. At this point I'm fine with them being as tall as adults and everything, but irl they're still (to some degree) children inside and ts4 is not portraying that in any way. I mean yeah they should still be able to do some adult activities, that's realistic but I don't see a difference between teens and adults in the game. If the sims 4 had more playground equipment also usable for teens to hang out on and if all the younger lifestages (toddlers, kids, teens) had some own play interactions where they actually play with each other (like ts2, remember the pillowfights, ticklefights, catch and dancing etc?) it would make teens more like teens in ts4 and childhoods more exiting and childhoodlike. I mean when I was a kid I didn't only make messes on the floor and then wash the dishes, I would play with other children. Parents should also be able to play with their kids in some way other than a dollhouse and throwing toddlers around but they shouldn't go around tickling their adult neighbours in ts2- I mean it was hilarious but if we're getting any of that stuff back I think it should be almost strictly for families and between kids (including teens) and their friends or else all the sims will start a tickle epidemic again and I'm not ready for that
They’re charging too much for extremely watered down game play. Island Living is a huge let-down. It had so much potential. I wish that GTW had more career options.
0:55 I would put the worse kids pack aka Toddler SP here instead Vintage Glamour. VG brings butlers and a lot of really good build items and CAS. Also Cool Kitchen I suppose is lackluster, but considering how small number of kitchen items we have, this largely makes this pack better (still would put it on low, but maybe just over the Patio, and bad Toddlers). 4:05 I would put Dine Out lower - I mean I don't use Spa either, but the building items are great. And Dine Out is still hella glitchy for me. 4:55 I have to buy Moschino already, those build items are probably some of the best, and I need that Photography update finally to be made. Sucks they did it with a paywall, but oh well. I don't like clothes in it though (that's why I'm waiting for proper discount). Also I believe the career was fixed finally - I mean whole Freelancer was glitching for me, and now it works, so I would assume the other branches are also ok now. 5:30 Is it only me, or does Tiny Living - similar to other stuff packs that came after bigger packs feel like something that was cut from University. It fits the theme of roomates and student houses. I feel like, if it had bunk beds it would definitely be more clear that it was cut. 6:35 Ok, so that makes me want to buy Strangeville a little bit later in my Sims journey, then. 7:40 I love Jungle Adventure SO MUCH. The tiles are enought to sold me on this pack, goddamn tiles. Every single items is soo good. The only minus I find here is that Selvadorada is not playable world and that's a total sin. They should replace vacation locations with normal towns, and just add extra vacation feature for every world. Like tourist areas for each world would be cool, with ability for normal living in Selvadorada and Granite Falls. 7:54 This pack need an update - update with more jobs, bigger world and legal Sixam world. Imagine update that would give us Sixam as actual metropoly. I probably will buy it, just for the shops and aliens. It does have some cute items though. Also no - Aliens aren't the worst. The sad excuse of a fishmen is the worst occult. Well maybe after ghosts. Ghosts are the worst. 8:45 First Pet should be part of this pack. To be honest I do not care about horses - they would fit better in Farm Life with Horse Racing and Competitions. If they would add life stock to it - then we would have a solid Expansion Pack. Cats and Dogs on themselves are strong - but again First Pet should be just released as an update to this. 9:30 Island Living should have been a Game Pack. It does not deserve the title and price of the expansion. It lacks good textures, animations and gameplay. Building items and CAS are cute. New world? Sure - it looks great. Mermaids? Lackluster plus they don't work with Vampires. New career? A disrespectful joke to what should have been done. This deserves to be fixed. Another actually Island Living related career should be added and Mermaids should be expanded to the level of Vampires. Including new locations, and special powers, that can be learned through skill tree. 10:03 One word - cloudgazing. It is one of the few packs I feel are good, but deserve being expanded, due to how they did earlier packs. If it had more items I would put it as one of the nicest packs. Still wish that the vacation location was an actual living world with ability to explore. Imagine if they added cave exploring in similar way Jungle Adventure works. 10:25 Together with Island Living this is one of the most disappointing packs we have. It is ok, but should have been way better. Whole Realm of Magic should have been playable world, wizards should have been more fleshed out, worlds more polished. And most importantly - it would be great if it got some aspect of storyline. Oh, and the most most important thing - IT SHOULD WORK WITH VAMPIRES, WITH PROPER HYBRID SYSTEM. Oh and it would be nice if it had some inter-pack mechanics, like ability to create Wizarding University. I really think they gooped on University with that. 11:10 I disagree - I don't mind it being just a Game Pack - it makes it more focused, and we still could get other Generations elements in updates and future packs. Like Parenthood works well for kids, getting Granny Pack and Family Pack, all that would focus on whole family and older Sims would work well with this. I feel like if they did Expansion - it would be way over the place with too much stuff started but not polished enough. 12:00 University brings a lot of good items and features. But it is not University pack for me. It is everything but Univesity. It is fraternity pack, it is robotics pack, it is roomates pack (which is a steal from City Living, which saddens me a lot), it is a tiny living pack. And all those elements are great. But again - where is whole University part? I feel like if they added at least 10 playable lessons - similar to Get To Work, and no I don't mean sitting in class, but actual Labs - for art/literature you would be asked to create some art pieces/books, they could flesh out robotics, use chemistry, physics, computer science. I would also appreciate mini-games outside usual Sims gameplay, like some logical quizzes or challenges would be cool. Even sitting in class could be done by giving us some really nice information about Sims world and our world - teaching kids about basics of science. Imagine, if they made us do proper experiment in-game that checks if Sims live on flat Earth? The educational aspect of it would be extremely cool for younger players. On top of that I would like to see some pack integration - where is the ability to create school of wizardry? School for vampires? Or alien academy, that would teach us cosmic skills and stuff about aliens and Mother? This could have been so much better. And I feel a lot of options should have been left out for different pack. Like I would not be mad if Robotics was cut out of it and made into Game Pack afterwards instead. Also I would much prefer if it was more about school, expanding gameplay for kids and Toddlers, that could get their own "playable careers".
I absolutely agree with your comments on moschino and especially on tiny living. Ever since my first pet stuff came out and its huge backlash, I am suspicious of the stuff packs. It just seems like whoever's in charge of the sims franchise over at EA simply tells their designers/developers to create a few extra items with the budget of the actual expansion (possibly even game pack) that's being developed, so that they can purposely cut these items from the bigger pack and make a stuff pack out of it. Add a few recolors of base game items (like we wouldn't notice) and done is a stuff pack! In all honesty, my first pet stuff should definitely have been included in the cats&dogs expansion, as the items are a direct extension of what came with the expansion, both design and content wise. Tiny living also seems like it should have been in university. Like, where else if not in a dorm would you be in need of space saving items such as the murphy bed or the modular tv/stereo/shelving unit? Yeah right, in tiny, currently trending, houses. "Let's sell that." they said. And people bought it. "So let's do it again then!" That's why the stuff packs seem like ripoffs to me, and the expansions always appear to be lacking something. Argh.

i think one of the things that angers me the most about TS4 is that SO MANY of the packs could be combined together. -my first pet could go with cats and dogs -a lot of the adventure packs could go together -perfect patio, romantic garden, and backyard stuff -toddler stuff and kids room stuff (maybe parenthood) -get together with bowling night stuff, movie hangout stuff -a lot of the paranormal stuff could be put together (i think back to the sims 3 packs for paranormal stuff) it feels like getting SO LITTLE for SO MUCH. it’s like they’re trying to squeeze people dry without even trying to hide it

I really liked Strangerville! It definitely had issues but I love the style and the new Sim personalities and all that it brought with it. Great pack, love it.

I love seeing Strangerville get a little love! Yeah, the gameplay is kind of something you can do once and be done with it, but I use the CAS and Build Buy items all the time! I use them for gardening sims and houses that I want to have that rural charm. All the items look like they really do belong in a spooky desert town! Plus, the pack gives me major Welcome to Night Vale vibes
I remember how hard we all begged to be able to do laundry in The Sims 2, lol. So much so that when we got washers and dryers in The Sims 3 Ambitions, they might as well have been ladders 😂 Remember those days, when things like that were just included in ep's instead of charged for as stuff packs? 😒 It's why I don't play The Sims 4. It looks beautiful, but I can't afford to buy all the stuff that would kinda flesh out my game the way it already is in The Sims 3.
Gonna be honest, when I was doing one of those “build a bundle” deals to get Strangerville and Get Famous, I chose the pet stuff pack as my third thing over all the other stuff I could have chosen specifically because I wanted the little egg bed. Haven’t used much of the other stuff but the pet beds in that pack made it all worth it to me.
When you said Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School was your fave i SQUEALED quite literally Scooby-Doo is my favorite thing ever (1969-2006 mostly) and this is my second favorite movie! My first fave is boo brothers :) thanks for always making me laugh!!
Yeah I 100% agree. I feel like there are loads of things from pervious versions of Sims that I love but aren't in Sims 4 (I mean who remembers carnivals and rollercoasters in the original Sims?!!). I have been reluctant to buy any other packs for a while because I just feel like they all fall short or have been split into multiple packs so you have to spend more money. It's such a shame x
Seasons, Cats and Dogs, Parenthood, City Living and Laundry Day are my must have packs. They impact every area of the game and really bring life to it, IMO. Also, my life sized Legolas approves of your life sized Snape.
ladycheysuli I have almost all those packs except for seasons, I loved the city living, cats and dogs, but my fave is parenthood. I love having kids and teens and giving them advice and trying to lead them down the right path. But there was a comment on this video that I really agree with, it was something about having this system that you could have your child be like you, like follow the parents foot steps. I think that would be pretty cool to have. Have you played seasons yet? Is it worth the money?
@@heatherpatterson9245 I do have Seasons and 100% think it's worth it. I love the realism weather brings, the calendar/holiday season is perfect for story telling or random events, and has some of my favorite CAS and build/buy items (which incidentally match really well with laundry day IMO).

The reason I’m asking is I had a game on Nintendo 3DS and it somehow done that, it followed the seasons we were in irl. How does it work? Can I celebrate Christmas and thanksgiving and Easter. Those are my favorite holidays. I loved the parenthood pack but I got very little with it, like for build mode, I’ll probably have to pay I think it’s 50 or 60 dollars will I get more than one stove and diaries and two counters. I loved the things I got but wish there was more. With seasons is the only thing you get is weather changes and some build mode

In the settings you control the length of your seasons, where they will change either every 7 sim days, 14 sim days, or 28 sim days! It is not based on your computers clock but what you choose in game. The new calendar system allows you to create and place holidays on any day you wish! So if you want to celebrate Christmas in the Sims on real life Christmas, you can make that happen! Heck, you can even make it Christmas every day if you want. You can create any holiday you like, not just mainstream ones but silly made up ones too. The game itself has some of these random oddball holidays sprinkled in for a touch of the Sims fun but if you don't like them, you can easily cancel or delete them from your calendar. i AGREE with the fact that parenthood should've been an expansion pack. i wish they would've made that an expansion pack, then added the toddler stuff and kids room stuff in, and expanded more on toddler and children gameplay. and yes with seasons!! i love seasons, but i MISS the festivals that Sims 3 had! and if i'm being honest, i find some of the holidays to be annoying, such as "talk like a pirate" day or "neighborhood brawl" day. i'd much rather have the major ones, then some of the smaller ones like new years eve, etc. and have festivals! that was one of my favorite things about Sims 3!

If you start adding up the cost of all of the packs, it's astonishing how much it is. I do enjoy the new gameplay of a new pack, but it's really a lot of $$$ when at the end of the day, you're still playing the same game.
Seriously... I got City Living at 50% about a year ago... and that's still my only pack. So many of them are appealing but I know for a fact that there's hella things that would get on my nerves because it's all half-baked.
Apart from the original game (I ordered the superlimited edition 100euros, dont judge I was young and didnt know what would it be) I bought everything from 50% to 75% or even 90% discounts. Mostly 75%. Sorry EA but I will spend all my money only in the sims 1 expansion packs

I was surprised by how much I liked Get Together. I got it on whim during one of EA's sales and absolutely love it. I have a family club for members of my legacy family and they have weekly family dinners at the main house. The expansion just makes socialization in the sims a lot easier and more enjoyable.
and Honestly the world is gorgeous, you can do so much with it if you get rid of the original buildings if they are not your thing and then you end up with a secluded island, rural village, modern downtown and town centre areas. Also cafes and nightclubs (they fixed them for bg later but real nightclubs are still only with GT) are such a main feature, I often use cafes for dates and nightclubs for my young adults.

Zoe Thomson great example. Another one is Get Famous and City Living. Those 2 were just combined as Late Night in Sims 3 but instead they divided it into two whole expansion packs. The city in late night was huge, and there are hardly any improvements to the fame system from Late Night to Get Famous. Did not warrant 2 expansion packs.

Liz I see your point, but remember it was one of the first stuff packs, coming out years before Seasons. I can agree that some of the releases are a bit piecemeal, where it seems some things they do are to fill gaps and plug holes in earlier packs ... namely My First Pet Stuff.

I have all the expansions on PC but only pets for PS4 and lemme tell u, they’ve been adding hella stuff from the expansions into the base game, especially the last week.

I feel as if most of the packs should've just come free with the game. EA are basically ripping us off by this point since it was meant to be a life simulator and the base game doesn't even come close. We're not made of money so it's just pretty disappointing as a whole.

Honestly, I’d rather have EA not rush through packs if we could actually have completely fleshed out ideas. We’re always left, asking for more. I think that all packs could use an overhaul (like fixing bugs that have been in the game for literally years) which is a lot to ask but still. These packs are not cheap and we shouldn’t be paying for the half-thought content we get sometimes.

This is way off topic but One thing that really irritates me is that every sims 4 pack that gets released, there's glitchs and issues with every single one of them. One of the reasons why I hate buying a pack.
I used to use Sims 4 to make sure I went to bed on time. I kid you not, I would always fall asleep after a few hours if I played with my laptop on my bed
My biggest, and biggest issue with sims 3. Is that my Sims 3 isn't even as stable as my Sims 4 with mods. My computer isn't a potato either. I run Skyrim on ultra 2k graphics with almost 150 mods. What I have no idea about is why my Sims 3 with 2 mods and some CAS cc just completely loads, and plays, so, damn, slow. I need to figure out how to get better graphics and better overall stability in my sims 3.
@@seanstults1271 that's weird... I had the same issue until I moved the game files to an external hard drive and it runs amazingly. My computer isn't that powerful but it can play a fair deal of games and manage fine. That's really weird, there just might be something your computer doesn't like about the files or something when it's mixed with cc and mods
one thing i will say about sims 4 packs: i'm glad we don't have stuff like the llama bringing you the university signup stuff and the time machine appearing in the garden any more

At this point I don't think it's really necessary to criticize every pack one by one. Even if the Sims team would fix every issue you listed, the game still would lack depth, detail and innovation. I've given up on Sims 4, it's lost.
ConfusedCat There was a community survey this month that hinted at some really cool relationship changes, like sims finding it harder to become friends after a big fight, or sims having a preferred activity with a specific friend like “brunch buddies”, and I think that’s exactly the kind of depth the game lacks right now. Although the survey did also allude to a winter holiday pack which would no doubt be just as shallow and contentless as the rest of them 🙄

Yeah, I was at that point of hateing the game, too. Quite often even. Though I have to admit, there is something that actually made my love for the sims beeing reborn and it was the modders. What EA is too stupid to do, real creative people that are worth supporting are already doing. Can't play the sims without mods anymore. And I have to admit, I'm more playing with the mods than the acctual game. But I'm okay with that now. I look at it that way: the sims is just a platform for many awsome mods to be played. And it's doing a good job at that. :)

Also, Forgotten Hollow is just a really nice looking town, its only drawback is the size, as I do wish I could place and build more than just a couple of buildings there. There are also just a whole lot of hidden details here and overall I love it.
Also, GET TOGETHER!! THANK YOU. It's such an underrated pack!! The world is huge, the club system is very versatile, plus there's the whole familiar European vibe (specifically Germany, based on experience). Which is great, especially when most of the worlds look so dang American instead.

The whole time I watched this I thought, wow every single one of these packs are empty and fall short. We give EA too much credit and grace in how horrible they have been with content. I feel robbed honestly. I can think of features and items that should have been included for every pack but just wasn't. Money grabs. All of em.

generations was my favourite in sims 3. I like families ridiculously huge familie. Raising screaming toddlers to very skilled well rounded sims is one of my favorite things to do in the sims.

It’s sad because in TS2 I very rarely played families without pets, it just felt incomplete without them. But in TS4 pets are SO irritating, they’re constantly scratching around needing a wee despite being toilet trained, they need to be walked every 5 minutes (and a short walk takes 4 hours) and every time I load a family the pet has got some mad, red nose, rainbow shits disease. Nope, no pets for any of my TS4 families.
I do like the Cats & Dogs BB and world though, I love the country/New England style.
And I completely agree with you on Strangerville - I love the sci-fi Area 51 feel!

Agree. Also traits like "loyal", "affectionate" and "friendly" made both pets stupidly clingy. Of course such traits would make easier to befriend, but wanting to be pet all the time is super frustating.
I have an affectionate cat in real life and she follows me everywhere I go but that doesn't stops her love her owns space or quirks.

Change the screen size and textures and the graphics are👌. I have been using the wayback machine web to download CC. Adding careers and gameplay moods is so good, if modders where able to make other actions into the gameplay I wouldn't ever come back

I actually forget how bland The Sims 4 is without mods. If I hadn’t discovered mods I would’ve stopped playing the game many years ago as there was just no depth and nothing to keep me interested in the sim family I was playing.

Gonna have to disagree with you about Discover University. I was super excited about it when it came about, but then I played it for more than half an hour and realised just how repetitive it is. The entire game is just constant cramming for exams, and then, if you're lucky enough to have any free time, it's just mediocre clubs with barely any autonomy or activities and rabbit hole soccer games. It feels like a half complete game to me - almost as if it's a demo that's been leaked. It's just so boring. 🤷♀️
That is the impression I got watching LPs and why I never bought it. And I absolutely loved TS3 university because it seemed to have a lot of stuff but also more time to do it between learning. I am already stressed cramming for my real life exams, I don't need in-game exams to stress me out too 😅

dude I've been going on about this for like 8 years (not sure about 8 years, but at least since the end of sims 3 era so probably 2013 and someday soon that will have been 8 year ago so-) but I never experienced ts3 generations so I can't talk about ts3, but I can talk about ts2. I do know that ts3 generations brought some more meaningful family gameplay, but still I feel that both ts3 and 4 are lacking a bit compared to ts2. ts3 not necessarily in general family activites or parent interactions (like I said I didn't have generations and didn't play ts3 that much so I have little memory of it) but I still feel that both of those younger games lacked something I found important in ts2, and that is a bigger/deeper concept of childhood. I might be incorrect about sims 3 but I've been explaining why like 3 times already so don't call me out-
In the sims 4 (and probably some sims 3 but god I can't remember) there isn't much that reminds of childhood when you play with children, and by children I mean I'm including toddlers and teens too. For example, you don't see your teen taking some time to play with their younger siblings (cough cough because playing without toys doesn't exist in the sims anymore cough cough wow I can't believe I just unironically cough coughed), and kids barely have any interactions with toddlers. While teens can for some reason care for them like 100 percent adults? I mean, you go from a hardly interactive toddler to a child that is- I dont even know- and then you're a teen and then suddenly you're no different from an adult. At this point I'm fine with them being as tall as adults and everything, but irl they're still (to some degree) children inside and ts4 is not portraying that in any way. I mean yeah they should still be able to do some adult activities, that's realistic but I don't see a difference between teens and adults in the game.
If the sims 4 had more playground equipment also usable for teens to hang out on and if all the younger lifestages (toddlers, kids, teens) had some own play interactions where they actually play with each other (like ts2, remember the pillowfights, ticklefights, catch and dancing etc?) it would make teens more like teens in ts4 and childhoods more exiting and childhoodlike. I mean when I was a kid I didn't only make messes on the floor and then wash the dishes, I would play with other children. Parents should also be able to play with their kids in some way other than a dollhouse and throwing toddlers around but they shouldn't go around tickling their adult neighbours in ts2- I mean it was hilarious but if we're getting any of that stuff back I think it should be almost strictly for families and between kids (including teens) and their friends or else all the sims will start a tickle epidemic again and I'm not ready for that
They’re charging too much for extremely watered down game play. Island Living is a huge let-down. It had so much potential.

0:55 I would put the worse kids pack aka Toddler SP here instead Vintage Glamour. VG brings butlers and a lot of really good build items and CAS. Also Cool Kitchen I suppose is lackluster, but considering how small number of kitchen items we have, this largely makes this pack better (still would put it on low, but maybe just over the Patio, and bad Toddlers).
4:05 I would put Dine Out lower - I mean I don't use Spa either, but the building items are great. And Dine Out is still hella glitchy for me.
4:55 I have to buy Moschino already, those build items are probably some of the best, and I need that Photography update finally to be made. Sucks they did it with a paywall, but oh well. I don't like clothes in it though (that's why I'm waiting for proper discount). Also I believe the career was fixed finally - I mean whole Freelancer was glitching for me, and now it works, so I would assume the other branches are also ok now.
5:30 Is it only me, or does Tiny Living - similar to other stuff packs that came after bigger packs feel like something that was cut from University. It fits the theme of roomates and student houses. I feel like, if it had bunk beds it would definitely be more clear that it was cut.

7:40 I love Jungle Adventure SO MUCH. The tiles are enought to sold me on this pack, goddamn tiles. Every single items is soo good. The only minus I find here is that Selvadorada is not playable world and that's a total sin. They should replace vacation locations with normal towns, and just add extra vacation feature for every world. Like tourist areas for each world would be cool, with ability for normal living in Selvadorada and Granite Falls.
7:54 This pack need an update - update with more jobs, bigger world and legal Sixam world. Imagine update that would give us Sixam as actual metropoly. I probably will buy it, just for the shops and aliens. It does have some cute items though. Also no - Aliens aren't the worst. The sad excuse of a fishmen is the worst occult. Well maybe after ghosts. Ghosts are the worst.
8:45 First Pet should be part of this pack. To be honest I do not care about horses - they would fit better in Farm Life with Horse Racing and Competitions. If they would add life stock to it - then we would have a solid Expansion Pack. Cats and Dogs on themselves are strong - but again First Pet should be just released as an update to this.
9:30 Island Living should have been a Game Pack. It does not deserve the title and price of the expansion. It lacks good textures, animations and gameplay. Building items and CAS are cute. New world? Sure - it looks great. Mermaids? Lackluster plus they don't work with Vampires. New career? A disrespectful joke to what should have been done. This deserves to be fixed. Another actually Island Living related career should be added and Mermaids should be expanded to the level of Vampires. Including new locations, and special powers, that can be learned through skill tree.
10:03 One word - cloudgazing. It is one of the few packs I feel are good, but deserve being expanded, due to how they did earlier packs. If it had more items I would put it as one of the nicest packs. Still wish that the vacation location was an actual living world with ability to explore. Imagine if they added cave exploring in similar way Jungle Adventure works.
10:25 Together with Island Living this is one of the most disappointing packs we have. It is ok, but should have been way better. Whole Realm of Magic should have been playable world, wizards should have been more fleshed out, worlds more polished. And most importantly - it would be great if it got some aspect of storyline. Oh, and the most most important thing - IT SHOULD WORK WITH VAMPIRES, WITH PROPER HYBRID SYSTEM. Oh and it would be nice if it had some inter-pack mechanics, like ability to create Wizarding University. I really think they gooped on University with that.
11:10 I disagree - I don't mind it being just a Game Pack - it makes it more focused, and we still could get other Generations elements in updates and future packs. Like Parenthood works well for kids, getting Granny Pack and Family Pack, all that would focus on whole family and older Sims would work well with this. I feel like if they did Expansion - it would be way over the place with too much stuff started but not polished enough.
12:00 University brings a lot of good items and features. But it is not University pack for me. It is everything but Univesity. It is fraternity pack, it is robotics pack, it is roomates pack (which is a steal from City Living, which saddens me a lot), it is a tiny living pack. And all those elements are great. But again - where is whole University part?
I feel like if they added at least 10 playable lessons - similar to Get To Work, and no I don't mean sitting in class, but actual Labs - for art/literature you would be asked to create some art pieces/books, they could flesh out robotics, use chemistry, physics, computer science. I would also appreciate mini-games outside usual Sims gameplay, like some logical quizzes or challenges would be cool.
Even sitting in class could be done by giving us some really nice information about Sims world and our world - teaching kids about basics of science. Imagine, if they made us do proper experiment in-game that checks if Sims live on flat Earth? The educational aspect of it would be extremely cool for younger players.
On top of that I would like to see some pack integration - where is the ability to create school of wizardry? School for vampires? Or alien academy, that would teach us cosmic skills and stuff about aliens and Mother? This could have been so much better. And I feel a lot of options should have been left out for different pack. Like I would not be mad if Robotics was cut out of it and made into Game Pack afterwards instead.
Also I would much prefer if it was more about school, expanding gameplay for kids and Toddlers, that could get their own "playable careers".
I absolutely agree with your comments on moschino and especially on tiny living. Ever since my first pet stuff came out and its huge backlash, I am suspicious of the stuff packs. It just seems like whoever's in charge of the sims franchise over at EA simply tells their designers/developers to create a few extra items with the budget of the actual expansion (possibly even game pack) that's being developed, so that they can purposely cut these items from the bigger pack and make a stuff pack out of it. Add a few recolors of base game items (like we wouldn't notice) and done is a stuff pack! In all honesty, my first pet stuff should definitely have been included in the cats&dogs expansion, as the items are a direct extension of what came with the expansion, both design and content wise. Tiny living also seems like it should have been in university. Like, where else if not in a dorm would you be in need of space saving items such as the murphy bed or the modular tv/stereo/shelving unit? Yeah right, in tiny, currently trending, houses. "Let's sell that." they said. And people bought it. "So let's do it again then!" That's why the stuff packs seem like ripoffs to me, and the expansions always appear to be lacking something. Argh.

-a lot of the adventure packs could go together

-get together with bowling night stuff, movie hangout stuff
-a lot of the paranormal stuff could be put together (i think back to the sims 3 packs for paranormal stuff)

I love seeing Strangerville get a little love! Yeah, the gameplay is kind of something you can do once and be done with it, but I use the CAS and Build Buy items all the time! I use them for gardening sims and houses that I want to have that rural charm. All the items look like they really do belong in a spooky desert town! Plus, the pack gives me major Welcome to Night Vale vibes

Remember those days, when things like that were just included in ep's instead of charged for as stuff packs? 😒 It's why I don't play The Sims 4. It looks beautiful, but I can't afford to buy all the stuff that would kinda flesh out my game the way it already is in The Sims 3.
Gonna be honest, when I was doing one of those “build a bundle” deals to get Strangerville and Get Famous, I chose the pet stuff pack as my third thing over all the other stuff I could have chosen specifically because I wanted the little egg bed. Haven’t used much of the other stuff but the pet beds in that pack made it all worth it to me.

Yeah I 100% agree. I feel like there are loads of things from pervious versions of Sims that I love but aren't in Sims 4 (I mean who remembers carnivals and rollercoasters in the original Sims?!!). I have been reluctant to buy any other packs for a while because I just feel like they all fall short or have been split into multiple packs so you have to spend more money. It's such a shame x
Seasons, Cats and Dogs, Parenthood, City Living and Laundry Day are my must have packs. They impact every area of the game and really bring life to it, IMO.

I love having kids and teens and giving them advice and trying to lead them down the right path. But there was a comment on this video that I really agree with, it was something about having this system that you could have your child be like you, like follow the parents foot steps. I think that would be pretty cool to have. Have you played seasons yet? Is it worth the money?
@@heatherpatterson9245 I do have Seasons and 100% think it's worth it. I love the realism weather brings, the calendar/holiday season is perfect for story telling or random events, and has some of my favorite CAS and build/buy items (which incidentally match really well with laundry day IMO).

The reason I’m asking is I had a game on Nintendo 3DS and it somehow done that, it followed the seasons we were in irl. How does it work? Can I celebrate Christmas and thanksgiving and Easter. Those are my favorite holidays. I loved the parenthood pack but I got very little with it, like for build mode, I’ll probably have to pay I think it’s 50 or 60 dollars will I get more than one stove and diaries and two counters. I loved the things I got but wish there was more. With seasons is the only thing you get is weather changes and some build mode

In the settings you control the length of your seasons, where they will change either every 7 sim days, 14 sim days, or 28 sim days! It is not based on your computers clock but what you choose in game. The new calendar system allows you to create and place holidays on any day you wish! So if you want to celebrate Christmas in the Sims on real life Christmas, you can make that happen! Heck, you can even make it Christmas every day if you want. You can create any holiday you like, not just mainstream ones but silly made up ones too. The game itself has some of these random oddball holidays sprinkled in for a touch of the Sims fun but if you don't like them, you can easily cancel or delete them from your calendar.
