I have an 04 DLT 3000 with a 20 hp Kohler Command engine and it has a 4 wheel deck. Plus the deck wheel are adjustable. Been and still is a great mower.
had the same issue after sitting in 3ft of snow cause the tarp blew off. it ended up being valve adjustment and I took the starter off, disassembled, cleaned and lubed, now it starts up first key turn.
I have a mower just like that, same year I think and I still mow my acreage with it. They are decent mowers but most people just run them into the ground and do zero maintenance.
I just saw one of these craftsman dlt3000’s with a factory honda 16.5 ohc vtwin with some type of hydro, never new a craftsman of that age came with that honda option, must be rare, but anyways this guys tractor was in mint condition like the “original” 85 roper in the garage
My DLT3000 turns over really well but won't start. I took the engine cover off & it will start & kept running until l turned it off....put the cover back on...won't start, does turn over! Do you have a clue what the problem is? Thanks Judie....my first time working on my mower....out of necessity!!!
nice looking mower there. I don't hate on those one cylinder inteks but, out of all the engines I have seen and had in mowers they seem to afterfire on shutdown and sometimes on restart more than any motor I have ever seen. I know a lot of the backfire is usually related to the anti afterfire fuel solenoid on the carb bowl though. It doesn't bother me a whole lot but, backfiring to me gets old after a while although lots of the engines do it. Anyway still a nice mower that you picked up there.
yea I have a craftsman with an intek , and the thing backfires and afterfires sometimes. but hey 12 years old and still runs great. just normal maintenance , nothing critical done to it. not even a carb clean out.
Well you know too those inteks have those antiafterfire solenoids and they seem to prevent backfire when they are working if you kill throttle wide open. I started on everything I own killing wide open and no more backfire. My new craftsman with a kohler twin owner manual states on it shut off between half and full throttle and never so far knock on wood have gotten a backfire.
427 Elevating Productions yea. but it only backfires when you load the trailer I like to shut it off. and when it is loaded ill start it back up. but after a few times of start then killing it, it will backfire while the starter is cranking the motor. it can be just random. but it does a good job of scaring the fuck out my ass when it does backfire. and it has not afterfired since 2007 , so that is a good thing.
I love these videos so much! I definitely miss seeing them regularly!

I used to have a bolens with a 12 hp brigs that looked like that
It will not start unless the deck is off.. Safety crap, 2004 models up have that deck safety feature.
if you dont mind me asking, what is wrong with a 2005 LT 1000? Are they just not a good tractor. I heard they were pretty reliable.
Is that a hydrostatic transmission?
how much would you ask for it ?
Cool! Great video! Is Dave a relative of yours?
How much can this tow
I got one in a trade for my 03 rear engine craftsman

hmm if it went that long without afterfiring maybe you just was getting bad gas or something for a while in it.
`427 Elevating Productions...you might try the non alcohol gas...it worked on mine!!!
I have the dlt2000 craftsman with a 20 horse Kohler
