I just got one of these a couple weeks ago. She had been setting outside for 5 years. My friend picked it up for scrap and instead of hauling it up to his just Yard. The owner said it had a Blow Engine. I had a lot of cleaning up to do on it because the Field Mice had built an apartment house out of it. I went through the entire Fuel System and then adjusted the valves. When I popped the valve cover and the rocker arm fell off the intake valve. I have 7 Tractors and this little DLT is my favorite..
Nice and informative video. I would drain the gas from the tank first at the filter just to make sure there’s no water in the tank. With ethanol present in gas these days and gas sitting it for awhile the ethanol turns to water. Found this a lot with ethanol gas in gas tanks. Thanks for the video.
Nope, the ethanol turns to shellac and gums up the carb and filter, etc. I know cause I've cleaned up enough carbs for that reason, that that's the first thing I do now, and not just mowers, but tillers, chain saws, weed eaters, etc.
I have the dlt 3000 with the els725 b&s vtwin, but gear drive. I cant find a OEM part number for the fuel filter and trying to decide if I need a screen or paper filter for it. Also trying to figure out why it jerks forward when releasing the clutch in gear, or a suitable bagger option for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Its an obvious tip for anyone who does oil changes, but for the newbies, do not forgot to put a little oil on the rubber gasket on the oil filter. Otherwise it might well leak. Also, do not over tighten the filter or it will crush the gasket (and leak) and you will drive yourself crazy trying to get it off next time. Hand tight.
Great video, Thanks Pete! This will be my first time tuning up my mower so this is a great help. I have a smaller engine in my DLT 3000 are there any extra steps I should take with a Craftsman 18.5HPOHV Intekplus? Also, what grade sandpaper did you use? Thanks again
Awesome video! Thank you very much. Even with zero experience with lawn tractors I am actually servicing my new mover. Did you happen to record sharpening the blades?
Besides the mouse nest, I'd bet crap gas. I can't afford no ethanol in the car and truck, but EVERYTHING else...chainsaws, mini-tiller, ATV, EVERYTHING else...is non-ethanol. No more that is used its easily affordable, even on a tight budget.
I can't see putting those covers back on wearing it's accumulated dirt.. first thing to do is wash the entire thing!! Maybe my OCD is showing I dunno....
Cheap homes that are you put on a cheap video just to make some money when you're popping those will caps you better make sure that Foyle is ripped off that can't cuz he put it in the engine and caught some big trouble down the road
Great video. No nonsense. Very helpful. 👍

Thanks Pete. That reminds me I have to do a tune up to my lawn tractor as well as free up the drive pulley as well.
That's very good Advice on the black terminal battery. Always disconnected first.👍

Hey great tutorial, can use straight motor engine oil 10w30 or does it have to be 4 stroke engine oil
Very smart how you handle that mouse nest. Can't be too careful sometimes.
Bosch spark plugs and synthetic oil will give a noticable boost in power. Bosch plugs make a Briggs start harder but well worth it for the power gain.
Nice video
How's she goin'? Great to have the maintenance done and it sure looks like this tractor needed some!!! Take Care!!!
Great job lot's of great information
“We’re gonna bla-yow it a-yute.”
So Canadien. lol
Excellent tutorial! I learned a lot.

Thanks for sharing PETE.

Cool but you forgot to first OIL UP THE NEW FILTER ON THE RIM WITH A BIT OF NEW OIL. VERY IMPORTANT.

Is there a bagger system for this model

Forgot to mention this. I like to put dielectric grease on the battery connections and some anti seize on the spark plug threads.
What did you gap the plugs at?
Shouldn't have to, most come at the right gapping. The bitches be gapped good.
I'm having the same problem
Usually whats wrong with these is the fuel line that will melt and not let fuel through

I think it is a good idea to air pressure spray out door, ayh...

They made them because their junkie ran out of oil he can't pull the plug anymore or is that too much gas in the oil I want some food
FIRST!...LOL.
