Was half way though watching Hornblower saw this come up and ill be honest i'm not a big super hero guy so was going to give it a miss, but it was john snow went all like ooooooo! *click*
The model itself doesn't really remind me of the tv series John Snow but the way you painted it looks really great and how on earth you managed to paint the eyes so well with so little detail in the sculpt itself I don't know. Great job :) btw, I'm a huge fan of Audible, though its a tad expensive, I am pretty much constantly listening to one audiobook or another.
This series is great dude! Choosing a man of the night's watch was a great call for showcasing "black." Medieval equivalent of a goth indeed!

I thought I would mention a year later, since i just saw this. If you are wondering why his tunic isn't black, it's the Tunic of House Stark not the Nights Watch, but really cool mini.

For free audiobooks, see what your local library has to offer. Visit their website or even give them a call. Most offer free digital downloads with some very handy apps like Libby. Sure - some books you may need to put on hold, but I use the app’s filter to show bye books available for instant download (what’s, effectively, ‘on the shelf’). Save your coin for more minis! ;)

Great video man. I was struggling with this issues painting death troopers for starwars legion. Couldn't differentiate the armour from the cloth till I stumbled on this little gem
That pommel actually looks better than the multimillion dollar production quality tv pommel.

G.R.R.M. really did himself a disservice when he let his publisher convince him to move away from an Initial Trilogy. The first book is arguably the best as a complete work. He has moments of genius in the other books but they lack the focus of the first.

Nice work! The cloak looks awesome. IMHO the leather armor looks too brown, in the photo you had up on the wall he had a much darker leather armor, almost black. Your dog is great too.
Watching your introductory stuff has really made me a better painter. I really dig it. Maybe I'll send in some time based progression stuff for you to display at the end like you sometimes do. This particular video is helpful because i need to paint some half orc cultists for a campaign I'm running. I had no idea how to differentiate black but dark blue and purple are clever. I'll give it a try. Keep it up!

they actually made teh characters older in the show on purpose, like everything happened a few years later than in the books so every character is older

The fuller, or as you called it "the blood groove" is actually just to take weight away from the sword, flesh being as squishy as it is and blood being as liquidy and sticky as it is doesn't really care about a groove in the blade of a sword.

Yo scott, so speaking of shitting bricks, when I was in the army we were out in the field one time. It was about 8 at night and my platoon sergeant comes running into our tent screaming "get out of your bunks yall gotta see this", so begrudgingly we get our shit on and follow him. He leads us to the latrines and takes us to one of the stalls near the back. He looks at all of us and says "if yall got weak stomachs dont look, but nobody in my platoon better be pussy enough to not look". So individually we look in the stall and to our horror, sitting in the bowl, was a turd. This turd was, no exaggeration, about the size of a small meatloaf and smelled like legitimate death. A couple of days later we get a safety brief about not holding poop in and I guess the dude had to get medevac'd out and have some rectal stitches and other procedures to repair some damage.

About the baking soda vs powder, I use baking soda adding a little of acrylic white to the usual mixture of water and glue and so far it seems to hold its "whiteness" (is whiteness even a word?) over time
He could have done this video in black and white.

I like these kitbash/conversion series, I've little to no access to minis to practice, but the same knowledge is still good stuff, I usually do work around anime figurines that I sculpted myself. how good/necessary does sable brush is when one paints a mini? I've only had one experience with citadel paints and a space marine long time ago, I think the GW brush was synthetic though but, i thought maybe it's in the brush? since I saw that you also painted with cheap acrylic on another video.
That looked sick with the snow on the bottom of cape. Also Scott check out Robert Jordan - wheel of time. I like it better than GoT. Wish they would make a series out of it.

Do you use clear coats Miniac?? There’s no difference in using a gloss black or matte black if you spray clear coat the mini in matte, then brush on gloss or satin where you want it

Thank you for this video, I really like the use of varying types of contrast (something I am personally working on.) I always thought of contrast (coming from an IT background) in the literal sense like on a monitor nothing but like and dark. Thanks to videos like this one and others I have learned about temperature, finish, texture, gradient smoothness, etc. BTW when are we getting our Paint more minis! staples-like button because you can ask your fans that is pure and simple a shut up and take my money thing right there. The people I know that don't even paint have seen (and more importantly heard) that so many times they'd buy one and they don't even paint.
