      So, priming minis with a spray can, what's the cut-off for humidity % outside?
      I mean, you don't prime a mini outside in the fog, but really anything under 60%? Under 50%? Because the dryer, the better, right?
      Maybe do a test in the sauna or in a steamy shower, then in a dry room to show, haha.

    I don't even own an airbrush, nor do I plan to paint a tiny Shazam, I just like listening to these videos as some sort of inspiration while I paint some tanks. Nevertheless, they're always super fun to watch and I almost never get bored watching one!

    Super nice toot. Just a point with oil paint work, they’re perfectly safe to use with fine Kolinsky sable brushes. Oils are actually milder on those than the acrylics we usually use. I thin and clean with odourless turpenoid/mineral spirits. I’d just recommend folks keep their brushes they use with acrylics dedicated to acrylics and pick up a separate set for the oils so there’s no cross contamination.

    "White ink=god" is the understatement of the year. 3 coats, neat, to a clean, brushed-on pure white over a black primer. It also let's you get your subtle glow effect on super easily. Need thicker applications? Add a few drops to your paint to bring up the opacity. Ditto for black inks of this type.

    Fantastic video...I'm new to the "Miniature" hobby, but I have years of experience with large scale model ships so I've really focused on your videos to learn. I have to admit that the jargon and lexicon of miniature painting was at first...a little too esoteric ...but after watching a few of your videos..."I be jiggy wid it" (that's how you kids talk, right ?). You have "sick" skills not just as a painter/modeler, but as an educator...well done.

  • @Yarky1

    When I first saw the oil wash technique of cleaning after the wash I tought of trying it with the regular acrilic washes. I tried it with a Space wolf, done some zenithal lighting with various layers of the gw bluish greys, then a coat of gloss barnish, the wash of agrax earthshade gloss and then I cleaned it with one of those tiny sponges on a stick that are used for make up with a small amount of alcohol. The end result was super clean and beautifull, all the panels and recesses crispy clear and the light blue grey totally pure and clean. Worth it.
    Regards from Spain.

    Sweet paint work. Have you thought about going back and just masking areas of the mini off with plastic wrap/poster tack to regain the ultra smooth blends for capes? Looking at the cool coloring of the basing when you were in the middle of setting up your initial reds would you try and hit the basing with a neon light effect on the concrete in future since it is Gotham?

    • @Miniac

    Should note that if you use oils before you apply an Acrylic, over time that acrylic will deteriorate. And putting a varnish over an oil will cause the varnish to "liquify". Oil should be seen as a last step only. Just letting you know before you go ruining all your hard work. I know this because I had to remove varnish off of a mini once, and olive oil will eat the varnish. Overall, I just wouldn't mix acrylics and oils, or you're going to have a bad time.

    • @Miniac
      @Miniac  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Varnish has never liquified when applied post oil wash. Lots of people mix oils and acrylic paint to very good effect, this is the first time I've heard if something like this, you sure?

    • @williamrawlins5771
      @williamrawlins5771 5 ปีที่แล้ว
