    I enjoyed listening to this video. Thanks. I keep thinking that these deep harps need to be accompanying something else, whether a hang drum, another harp, a zither or a singer, or any combination of the above. I'm beginning to wish there were several of me so I could develop the idea further.

      You might just have to meet some people who play these instruments and arrange a jam session and see how it turns out. Check these people out. th-cam.com/video/QfXJ8V1-Mq8/w-d-xo.html

    Love your channel man, right down to the shirt you've got on. Once More Around the Sun is a great album.
    Maybe the trigger has been weighted with the wire wrap to drop the frequency of resonance, since the trigger is basically a pendulum.

      @bebbcorpharpery7331  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you and I do like mastodon as well as many other out there bands. You can drop the frequency of a harp by weighting the trigger or raise by removing a bit of the weight by grinding or filing off.

    I've been studying Hungarian for a few years now, and as soon as I saw "Szilagyi", I thought, "That's just gotta be Hungarian" lol :D Basically, the "-i" ending turns a noun into an adjective. They use this ending with place names to describe where something was made. For example, if it was from Budapest, then it'd "Budapesti Baykal" :D So there's your Hungarian lesson for the day lol

      Actually, Szilagyi is just a name. It may have originated from a place, but here it's just the creator's name. As a Hungarian, I can say it's a pretty popular name, actually.

    Hey! Lovely channel and videos, as always. Was wondering... how do you play a range exaclty? Is it just vowels?

    • @bebbcorpharpery7331
      @bebbcorpharpery7331  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I start by producing the lowest overtones that will sound. I do by keeping my tongue as low as possible and gradually raising it hitting the open and closed tones getting higher and higher seeing how far up and down I can get it to sound.

    Bro do playing on big stiff harps hurts teeth a little bit or that vibration is actually good for them?

  • @rodparsons521
    @rodparsons521 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    You're playing the outer end in a way which is perhaps the obvious initial method with a long instrument. Have you played the inner end of a harp that is twice as long as your mouth is wide? Have you tried rocking it in and out as you play (try this whilst holding a sustained note and see the sound change without needing to change the voicing), or tried moving the position across, so that you manipulate which the part of the action plays within the mouth and how much of the action plays "outside" the mouth. You can also generate "accidental" stopping or muting. Of course this might hurt if you play too hard and get it wrong with a heavy rough or sharp edged instrument.
    But then what is right or wrong? I like to think in more in terms of what might work and what might be interesting rather than just limit myself to what is seen by someone else as correct.
    This can be an advantage of learning by trial and error as an autodidact. :-)

      +arie sams Not as low as the titan with the ball in, but a bit louder and more breathy as szilagyi's are. I do love the tartar bass, but quite a different feel to it. I do enjoy it.
