That linking your shorts to your latest long form video is the biggest take away I got from this video. I never thought about doing that. Thank you! Great content. Best of luck in 2024.
Those are some really valuable tips and I wish I have watched this video before... It would have saved me so much time I used on trial-and-error. But I guess it's never too late to learn and improve as content creator (Recently, I also discovered that using a bit of Famester helped me to level up my channel even more). Keep up the great work, I can't wait for your next video.
I work in international advertising and I’ll say this, if you give everybody what they want and don’t limit how many people you can reach you’ll have a better chance of success.
1.- have three elements in your thumbnail 2.- study traditional media 3.- put long video links on your shorts 4.-clip your long videos 5.- title 8 words or less, write a rough concept and intro, draw a thumbnail 6.- diversify your traffic (links)
His advice is always to the point... Make good content. That is it. The trust is, that is as simple as it is and if you feel you don't have good content... get busy studying others.
Right off the bat, great question with asking Jimmy to break down the thought behind each thumbnail and progression. Not going for edited thumbnails but still interesting to hear the response. Thanks again for another great interview, Jon.
I’m a professional poster designer for TV and film and always try to approach thumbnails the same way I would approach comping key art. Love these tips about thumbnails and shorts!
All of these are such good ideas! I’ve rewatched this video 3 times taking more notes each time. Thank you for these updated tips! Let’s see what happens when you apply them :)
I haven’t heard about the flood method or short to short method but that is great advice!! Great video!! A Mr Beast interview was an awesome surprise to wake up to!
So glad to have discovered your channel in 2023! You've provided hours of insight and entertainment ~ thanks for being an inspiration to create again, as well! Looking forward seeing what you drop in 2024, Jon! Happy New Year!
Flood method could definitely lower watch time… because if the short form viewer that already has a short attention span clicks your video thinking it’s for a different topic that 15 second view lowers watch time.

Hard work to consistently post new videos, especially when it’s not your full-time job and it’s just you without a team of people to edit and draw ideas from.

This video is GREAT! It is very very dense! I was trying to watch it real fast between tasks but I had to stop half way through because the information is so good and so detailed that I need to go home, get a pin and pad, and watch it when I can take good notes! Great video, thank you for freely giving this much value! I also appreciate the length! It’s perfect!
TH-cam is like a job correct but , u gotta think about it like a course like class where u learn to become what ur pursuing and ur not getting pay for what ur learning and doing but as time passes u get better and graduate (u make it ) to how it works that's when u start getting payed. This is a carier, not just a random job u apply and start working. You don't get paid when u trying to learn something and get a license for it to make a carier if it was like that everyone had a carier instead of working at random jobs for these companies.
Do u think that youtube knows that when ppl click on related video, your watch time goes down, I feel like youtube knows that, and doesn't hold it against us
I'm a little confused. How does linking shorts to a main video help? Just my opinion, people don't look at the description area of a short, they just scroll to the next short or click on the creators icon to go to the main channel. So, what is the benefit of pointing a short to the main video?
00:01 Limiting Lamborghinis in thumbnails for better simplicity and understanding I find this trick very useful: 📁Make a new folder with all the thumbnails you are testing (3 or 4 options). 🖱Right click - View - Large icons. 📂Open folder again and see which image your eyes notice first. That's the good thumbnail 😎
