Great list. Been playing around with MAME. First with Retroarch, and then switched to MAME64, because that worked a lot better with some games. Do you have the same experience? Also it’s only now that I realize how many games I played where actually Arcade ports

Manuel Alejandro Cisternas Caamaño Did you see the readme file? I think that will answer your questions. A rough answer would be to right click in the Mame folder & create a new folder, then call it roms. Drag all of the files from roms 1 & 2 into the roms folder. Is that what you mean? To change the controls, you can open any game, then press the Tab key. Select Input (general), then use the arrow keys & enter to select each button. I hope that helps, you can ask again if you need to.
I guess I am not the 80's gamer that I thought I was. 🤔 I had never heard of over half of the games. I was happy to see Shinobi but disappointed that Heavy Barrel wasn't on the list.
these games were the cream of the crop back in the day. Top notch graphics. It amazes me when i think in 30 years people will see crysis or any other 3A title and will think "how did they play these back then? horrible graphics". These games are full of good memories
Not all people are like that. I don't consider more pixels, polygons and effects "better graphics," it's all about the overall graphical style. These games are just as good-looking to me as they ever were. Well done pixel art greatly impresses me. Meanwhile, more and more modern games look very dull and uninspired. Features like wet walls reflecting light aren't automatically going to make me think the graphics are impressive. It's like saying that Rembrandt is automatically better than Van Gogh, because his paintings look more like "the actual world."

The music from the game Hang On must have been replayed by the producers of the rapper Fabulous for one of his songs, I just don't remember the name of the it but the melody stands out so if anyone knows the song then they will recognize the sample.

I'm looking for a game name from the Vastar period, Iron Horse, Kung Fu Master. The platformer game consisted of controlling the park (boy and girl), which shot stars upwards, obliterating mobs along the way. It started on the beach, then you entered the sea where shark fins swam, and on the rocks there were frogs shooting balls, then there was a forest of gnomes that looked around and then rolled into a hat and flew at you, there was also a boss whose it was only possible to kill him when he swam with the head he was attacking you with - in the background M. Jackson's midi thiller. I do not remember later, but you also walked through the chessboard, on which the figures were moving, and when one of them lit up, you got a lot of points. I really care about finding this game because I've been searching intensively for about 20 years and can't find it. Thank you in advance for your help
Everything went well and all rom/game paths have been changed. However, when I select a game it says something like "loading game" and never does, even after waiting 1/2 hour. Any idea? The front end is pretty cool and you did a very thorough job, except no games will start. EDIT------After about 1/2 hour of posting the above comment, it just started working. Is there any way to avoid the "Press OK" nag screen at the beginning of almost every game?
Thank you for your hard work. Everything works great for me except Marvel vs Capcom. Does yours still work? It says the European Rom is working but when I try and load it doesn't run and says files are missing but when I checked the files they are all there. So I'm not sure what's going on or how to fix it?
@@daravuong 1. You need to follow my mGalaxy instructions again. Also, did you activate Mame in mGalaxy_Runway. 2. I don't know. It should work fine in Mame UI & mGalaxy. 3. Open mGalaxy_Runway & go to the controller tab to change the controls. I can't help any more than that, but feel free to ask if you have any other questions. In the instructions I said that I would upload rom/emulator packs for other systems, but I became busy & then only had 1 request for them since, so I haven't bothered. I might do it a few months down the line if I get more interest, otherwise it's not worth it for the amount of time involved.
@@topretrogames77 I got it working now. Had to download exe version of Mame. 142 64bit version. Weird that every other game worked for me with your 32bit version but not Marvel vs Capcom. It's all good now though. Thank you.
I’m trying to remember a game but cannot find it. It was a space type of game and you flew around the map destroying these big ships/bases. If I recall correctly, you would destroy all of them and then it would start a new level. I’m thinking maybe each base had 4-6 end pieces sticking out of it, around the perimeter of the base and to destroy/disable the base you had to shoot all them. And if I remember, as the game levels progressed there would be more bases than the earlier levels.

I don't know about retroarch on PC, but I have retroarch on PS3 and about 100 of these roms worked. You can dl these roms and a compatible version on Mame UI by following the link in the description.
I'm looking for the title of a game. Please help me. The game is about flying samurai characters. It's like a jet fighter game with projectiles but instead of the usual top to bottom progress, it is from right to left. Also, one of the characters dances in cherry blossom when she uses her ultimate move.

There is a game, I remembered it’s about to escape from a submarine due to sinking. The game mostly in black background color with red lines. Character mainly move up and down different levels inside the submarine.
Lembro do tempo em que vivia nas casas de fliperama. Lembro de uma máquina que tinha um jogo de nave muito legal, mas hoje em dia, mesmo pesquisando e garimpando na internet não encontrei mais esse jogo (detalhe: o jogo, após destruir todas as naves inimigas, aparecia no topo da tela um boneco mexendo os braços e que descia em várias direções tentando acertar o jogador e a gente tinha que atirar e destruir esse boneco alienígena). Infelizmente não lembro o nome desse jogo e até agora não encontrei nenhum vídeo dele na internet. Se alguém souber ou conhecer, compartilha aí, pois hoje temos os emuladores que nos ajudam a relembrar esses tempos bacanas.
O jogo era na vertical. Felizmente descobri o nome do jogo, também encontrado nas roms de arcade. Chama-se Altair e requer bastante habilidade para pontuar. Detalhe é que na máquina de arcade ele tinha um visual muito mais elaborado, provavelmente para atrair mais facilmente a atenção do público.

there was a very old arcade game where you had to kill ghosts but I dont remember the name.. I just remember at the end there were ghosts coming at you both ways and this was one of the hard things to deal in it kinda reminds me JuJu game but with ghosts
what emulator should I be using for all these games? I have been testing some of these games with mame0139 and mame078 plus and its a hit or miss between the 2.
I don't have access to my pc right now, so I don't know what version of Mame I use. But, I still haven't deleted a load of download links for my Mame and all of the working roms. You can find them in the info section of my pc games under 200 mb video. Let me know if it still works, or if you get stuck.
Super sprint The one in the arcade had an actual steering wheel. 4 people could play. You would stand to play it.I was about 15 and to turn quick I would spin that wheel with alot of touque. Lol one time right when I spun a little kid about 6 walked by and I knocked him clear across the arcade lol. I helped him up and he kinda waddled away. I think he was ok. Ahhh the memories......
Have you tried changing the controls from the Mame in-game menu (Press Tab, then click Player 1 Controls (General/This Game)) & press Enter on each direction/button to configure a new input on you arcade stick. I fyour PC recognises your controller, then Mame should too.
Ah, I see what you mean. I think you need an analogue controller for analogue games like Afterburner or say Hang-On. I use Playstation & Xbox controllers, so it's not a problem. Have you tried changing the controls (like I said earlier), but changing the paddle controls, which you have to scroll down a long way for. I don't think it'll work, but it's worth a try.
@@topretrogames77 thanks for the input, I’m gonna try a regular pad and test those settings and see if I can get them going that way, don’t get but 2 nights a week to work on it unfortunately lol. Everything seems ok, but when i try to run some games (basically half) it reads an error says missing files ROM or CHD images ar emissing (NeoGeo) and they do not open same with DataEast and some other games
Suri Moreno There are no missing files. Did you download Roms 1 & 2? Is there a file called neogeo in your roms folder? Did you refresh the games list?
@@zerphangames8769 Fixed. You were right about the bios files. Re-download Roms 1 & 2 using the new links in the description, then copy everything into your roms folder in Mame. You might need to refresh the games list in Mame.

I tried a few more and they worked. I read the readme, but I've been using emulators for a while and I'm no stranger to MAME, so I didn't go through the other front end. Would that make a difference? The roms are in the MAME rom directory. Not sure then. I wonder if MAME picked up an old directory from a previous install. I'll check.
CatFish 911 There are 3 or 4 people in the comments that said this works on Raspberry Pi, but Idk if they used my emulator or not. Maybe they used my roms on retropie Mame. You could ask them if you get stuck.

I use FinalBurnNeo for the most of them, then RetroArch MAME, then MAME2016 and MAME2003. Just move down the list.

I missed Truxton 2, Continental Circus and Turbo Out Run...also it's a fantastic selection!!!

Manuel Alejandro Cisternas Caamaño Did you see the readme file? I think that will answer your questions. A rough answer would be to right click in the Mame folder & create a new folder, then call it roms. Drag all of the files from roms 1 & 2 into the roms folder. Is that what you mean? To change the controls, you can open any game, then press the Tab key. Select Input (general), then use the arrow keys & enter to select each button. I hope that helps, you can ask again if you need to.

these games were the cream of the crop back in the day. Top notch graphics. It amazes me when i think in 30 years people will see crysis or any other 3A title and will think "how did they play these back then? horrible graphics". These games are full of good memories
Not all people are like that. I don't consider more pixels, polygons and effects "better graphics," it's all about the overall graphical style. These games are just as good-looking to me as they ever were. Well done pixel art greatly impresses me. Meanwhile, more and more modern games look very dull and uninspired. Features like wet walls reflecting light aren't automatically going to make me think the graphics are impressive. It's like saying that Rembrandt is automatically better than Van Gogh, because his paintings look more like "the actual world."
My favorite part was when the machine took my money.

Here's a MAME list suggestion for you:
· Make one list of all the US arcade classics.
· Another featuring Golden-Age arcade classics which is any game below 1985.
· A long list featuring all the Japan/Korea arcade classics.
(That's the plan I'm headed because so far I collected 900+ game roms from Japanese/Korean companies.)

I'm looking for a game name from the Vastar period, Iron Horse, Kung Fu Master.
The platformer game consisted of controlling the park (boy and girl), which shot stars upwards, obliterating mobs along the way.
It started on the beach, then you entered the sea where shark fins swam, and on the rocks there were frogs shooting balls, then there was a forest of gnomes that looked around and then rolled into a hat and flew at you, there was also a boss whose it was only possible to kill him when he swam with the head he was attacking you with - in the background M. Jackson's midi thiller.
I do not remember later, but you also walked through the chessboard, on which the figures were moving, and when one of them lit up, you got a lot of points.

Everything went well and all rom/game paths have been changed. However, when I select a game it says something like "loading game" and never does, even after waiting 1/2 hour. Any idea? The front end is pretty cool and you did a very thorough job, except no games will start. EDIT------After about 1/2 hour of posting the above comment, it just started working. Is there any way to avoid the "Press OK" nag screen at the beginning of almost every game?
That's strange, I don't know why it didn't start working straight away. As far as I know, there's no way to skip the OK screen unfortunately.

Thank you for your hard work. Everything works great for me except Marvel vs Capcom. Does yours still work? It says the European Rom is working but when I try and load it doesn't run and says files are missing but when I checked the files they are all there. So I'm not sure what's going on or how to fix it?
Yeah, it works fine for me. I don't know how you can fix it either, sorry.
@@daravuong 1. You need to follow my mGalaxy instructions again. Also, did you activate Mame in mGalaxy_Runway.
2. I don't know. It should work fine in Mame UI & mGalaxy.
3. Open mGalaxy_Runway & go to the controller tab to change the controls.
I can't help any more than that, but feel free to ask if you have any other questions. In the instructions I said that I would upload rom/emulator packs for other systems, but I became busy & then only had 1 request for them since, so I haven't bothered. I might do it a few months down the line if I get more interest, otherwise it's not worth it for the amount of time involved.
@@topretrogames77 I got it working now. Had to download exe version of Mame. 142 64bit version. Weird that every other game worked for me with your 32bit version but not Marvel vs Capcom. It's all good now though. Thank you.

I’m trying to remember a game but cannot find it. It was a space type of game and you flew around the map destroying these big ships/bases. If I recall correctly, you would destroy all of them and then it would start a new level. I’m thinking maybe each base had 4-6 end pieces sticking out of it, around the perimeter of the base and to destroy/disable the base you had to shoot all them. And if I remember, as the game levels progressed there would be more bases than the earlier levels.

I remember that when you finished the game, the driver is revealed. A blond woman takes off her helmet. Another feature of the game is that you would go through check points. The last stage was in a city that would start with curbs right and left repetitively. Every time that you would crash into another car, the driver's helmet would break the windshield.

I don't know about retroarch on PC, but I have retroarch on PS3 and about 100 of these roms worked. You can dl these roms and a compatible version on Mame UI by following the link in the description.
I'm looking for the title of a game. Please help me. The game is about flying samurai characters. It's like a jet fighter game with projectiles but instead of the usual top to bottom progress, it is from right to left. Also, one of the characters dances in cherry blossom when she uses her ultimate move.

There is a game, I remembered it’s about to escape from a submarine due to sinking. The game mostly in black background color with red lines. Character mainly move up and down different levels inside the submarine.

Lembro de uma máquina que tinha um jogo de nave muito legal, mas hoje em dia, mesmo pesquisando e garimpando na internet não encontrei mais esse jogo (detalhe: o jogo, após destruir todas as naves inimigas, aparecia no topo da tela um boneco mexendo os braços e que descia em várias direções tentando acertar o jogador e a gente tinha que atirar e destruir esse boneco alienígena). Infelizmente não lembro o nome desse jogo e até agora não encontrei nenhum vídeo dele na internet. Se alguém souber ou conhecer, compartilha aí, pois hoje temos os emuladores que nos ajudam a relembrar esses tempos bacanas.

O jogo era na vertical. Felizmente descobri o nome do jogo, também encontrado nas roms de arcade. Chama-se Altair e requer bastante habilidade para pontuar. Detalhe é que na máquina de arcade ele tinha um visual muito mais elaborado, provavelmente para atrair mais facilmente a atenção do público.

i prefer these type of games nothing will beat classic games compared to now
there was a very old arcade game where you had to kill ghosts but I dont remember the name.. I just remember at the end there were ghosts coming at you both ways and this was one of the hard things to deal in it kinda reminds me JuJu game but with ghosts
what emulator should I be using for all these games? I have been testing some of these games with mame0139 and mame078 plus and its a hit or miss between the 2.
I don't have access to my pc right now, so I don't know what version of Mame I use. But, I still haven't deleted a load of download links for my Mame and all of the working roms. You can find them in the info section of my pc games under 200 mb video. Let me know if it still works, or if you get stuck.
Super sprint The one in the arcade had an actual steering wheel. 4 people could play. You would stand to play it.I was about 15 and to turn quick I would spin that wheel with alot of touque. Lol one time right when I spun a little kid about 6 walked by and I knocked him clear across the arcade lol. I helped him up and he kinda waddled away. I think he was ok. Ahhh the memories......

Have you tried changing the controls from the Mame in-game menu (Press Tab, then click Player 1 Controls (General/This Game)) & press Enter on each direction/button to configure a new input on you arcade stick. I fyour PC recognises your controller, then Mame should too.
Ah, I see what you mean. I think you need an analogue controller for analogue games like Afterburner or say Hang-On. I use Playstation & Xbox controllers, so it's not a problem. Have you tried changing the controls (like I said earlier), but changing the paddle controls, which you have to scroll down a long way for. I don't think it'll work, but it's worth a try.
@@topretrogames77 thanks for the input, I’m gonna try a regular pad and test those settings and see if I can get them going that way, don’t get but 2 nights a week to work on it unfortunately lol. Everything seems ok, but when i try to run some games (basically half) it reads an error says missing files ROM or CHD images ar emissing (NeoGeo) and they do not open same with DataEast and some other games
Suri Moreno There are no missing files. Did you download Roms 1 & 2? Is there a file called neogeo in your roms folder? Did you refresh the games list?

@@zerphangames8769 Fixed. You were right about the bios files. Re-download Roms 1 & 2 using the new links in the description, then copy everything into your roms folder in Mame. You might need to refresh the games list in Mame.

Hi. Does it happen with every game? Maybe you didn't set the path to the rom folder or the path to Mame.exe in mGalaxy Runway. You need to follow my instructions again, I tried to make them as easy as possible. It's ok to ask me again if you're still stuck.
Good ranking, but in my humble opinion, Xybots is missing. I understand that not all of them fit, but for me Xybots is one of the best games ever.

Thane Greyhaven That's strange. Loads of people have downloaded the same files & had no problem. Can you try a few more games at random & let me know what happens. Also, did you follow the readme carefully?
I tried a few more and they worked. I read the readme, but I've been using emulators for a while and I'm no stranger to MAME, so I didn't go through the other front end. Would that make a difference? The roms are in the MAME rom directory. Not sure then. I wonder if MAME picked up an old directory from a previous install. I'll check.
That was it. It was looking in a folder of corrupted roms I thought I had deleted, but apparently forgot about.

Will these work on Raspberry Pi with retropie MAME or Amiga emulator on it?
CatFish 911 There are 3 or 4 people in the comments that said this works on Raspberry Pi, but Idk if they used my emulator or not. Maybe they used my roms on retropie Mame. You could ask them if you get stuck.
