  • Capcom Co., Ltd. (株式会社 カ プ コ ン Kabushiki-gaisha Kapukon?) Is a Japanese company that develops and distributes video games.
    He created his first arcade, Vulgus, in 1984. His first games continued being arcades, like Shoot 'em up 1942. Capcom has created some of the most famous and lasting series of the history of the videojuegos, like for example Street Fighter.
    In this collection we will see the best CAPCOM Arcades that we can find in the MAME (The Emulated) and I have also included other CAPCOM games that I have emulated with the DEMUL, ordered chronologically.

    Arcades in the 80's and 90's were nothing short of magical. So much talent, creativity, and ingenuity was being channeled into the budding industry. Risks were being taken, new formulas were being tried and tested. Not like video games today, where a small handful of financially proven models and franchises are continually recycled.... back then you would see some really innovative ideas and gimmicks pop up, then just as quickly vanish due to the rapid pace of it all.
    In this regard, CAPCOM was often ahead of the pack, creating some of the most memorable games from that era, pioneering the gold standard for 2D fighting games and side scrolling beat em ups, in particular.

      To be fair, I think you're looking at things with nostalgia googles - once a genre became popular, there were endless clones/iterations around that same theme - for example, the success of Double Dragon and Final Fight led to a parade of arcade beat-em-ups, ditto Street Fighter II and fighting games. Some were very good, some introduced welcome changes, but there was a lot of crap too. In that sense it mirrored the home gaming market. It's a very similar situation in modern gaming, look at battle royale explosion after the success of PubG.

      Yellowblanka there was something that when you played arcade 80/90 that will never leave you today it’s you forget in a instant there is no real let’s say substance it’s mire so the tech then the game that evolves. Yes there were dumb games like in any era. But in the let’s say 2010 you can’t make a video of 1 hour with iconic games. There is only a handful of iconic games now when you look back there are actually characters that you can actually know and see that evolved into newer games. Like strider I’m 1987 then came back in street fighter vs Capcom in the late 90 most ppl don’t even know that and don’t know how that character is special. Ghoulds and goblin was sega genisis iconic figure ( sonic and others also I know ) . Now you cannot relate to character because they don’t have story and they don’t get brought back in completely different games in new fashion. Today gaming is nothing short of boring same patters. It’s no fun really it’s just simple gaming that’s all. Not to say you don’t enjoy it yes you do but nowhere close to back in 80/90. Remember the cheats code? The electronic gaming monthly ? Gamepro ? Nintendo power ? Remember how you would wait like cray with the new cheat or anything up down left right 🤣🤣 now it’s nowhere with that magic I can go on and on it’s not nostalgia it’s simple today’s games is just a business back then it was an art similar to music that’s a fact no opinion. So lots more gimmicks now then back then

      G W i never said the games today anrt superior they are but they are just games you don’t remember and won’t remember so why aren’t you never going to forget Mario , Arthur , link , haggar, strider, captain commando , captain falco , fox , Cadillac and dinausors , Kirby , mega man , snake , Lara Croft etc.... and today what character again are they ?? Which one you remember which one you say shit that was my childhood ? Nope it’s not tinted glasses. I enjoy games today but it’s missing that “it” factor that I like about game maybe because back in the days there was cartoons at the same time with those characters who knows what it was but it’s not tinted. Now it’s just quick games nice graphic and gameplay but still missing that “it” to me at least my opinion. I still enjoy playing games but not has much and I play pc Xbox ps4 & switch. Back in the days for the days those games were the shit yes today it’s look like damn that’s shit 😂🤣 in 40 years ppl will look at games today and say the same shit. It’s just normal. But for me it’s missing something don’t know what but it’s just missing. If you like it that’s cool but your view doesn’t have to be “THE VIEW “ ppl might like both or 1 I like both just one era more then a other that’s all. They don’t give me games with good sequels and with good characters development like they use too all they do is bring back old ones and try to make it new for this gen tant don’t or didn’t know about it like a movie. It’s ok but not my cup of tea and I don’t find it appealing to me maybe to this gen but even that I don’t think so when you look at sells of the remakes. But it’s all good again no tinted glasses it’s like saying fruity loop is better then actual band in a studio 😂 it’s hot on the moment but won’t make it the test of time.

      @Vinayak Shenoy 82 represent! Easy to learn and play, hard to master. I love the WWf Arcade game/IYH even thou the latter was rushed but I was still happy to find it a few years back for a couple bucks complete with case and manual. I didnt even know they had made a sequel until I saw it in a store when i bought it(like 2012)

    • @Sam-Lawry
      @Sam-Lawry 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Vinayak Shenoy yes..the 3D games where ugly..and sadly they never released a great 31khz vga 640x480p 2D arcade system..they were tooo focused on 3D..back then they prefer virtua fighters than greats 2D sprites.
      If you know some nice 2D games in 31khz (outside Naomi and Atomiswave,I already have),they probably exist a lot of games in vga format.
      In 31khz 2D is perfect..

    1991 everything changed. Ill never forget seeing the SF2 machine at a local movie theater. Initially, I didnt even know what I was looking at, no one did. I remember in the following weeks people were accidentally figuring out there were "special moves". SF2 was a major leap in video gaming history.

    • @superghost6951
      @superghost6951 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I seem to remember the arcade cabinets of SF2 having the basic special moves for characters on the decals. So if it was an official SF2 cabinet (which it most likely was if it was one of the new ones back in '91) then it would have had the moves printed on it. Nobody was "accidentally" figuring the moves out. It was part of the selling point of the game. Why would Capcom not tell people how to use the moves, years before the internet was a thing? Who TF would accidentally stumble across how to do a dragon punch and then figure out the exact joystick/button combination when it was the first game to use that move? Nobody.

    • @goldenage
      @goldenage 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@superghost6951 Some cabinets did not have the move list and yes, people would accidentally perform special moves. Unintentional moves happen all the time.

    Watching this I can understand why people want to emulate games. There’s thousands of great arcade games we’ll never play. Hoping for some sort of bundle is near impossible with licenses fees and other companies being greedy with it

    • @yellowblanka6058
      @yellowblanka6058 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Particularly games like "Cadillacs and Dinosaurs" - a great beat-em-up that will likely never be re-released because of licensing issues.

    • @yellowblanka6058
      @yellowblanka6058 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Retro Storm This - were it not for the emulation community and enthusiasts and hobbyists connected to it, many games would be eventually lost to the ether as hardware and cartridges break down over time. Companies only gave a damn about emulating their older titles when it was clear that it was fairly lucrative, and with the nature of licensing and IP changing hands so many times over the years, it's unlikely we'll ever see re-release of some more obscure games.

      @@KenMasters. I don't think of seeing that as greed but more as protection and guarantee that they will not lose millions. Capcom took some risks in the past with certain IPs that they lost money which includes Cyberbots, Darkstalkers, Street Fighter 3, excluding Third Strike, Red Earth and forgotten worlds and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. While of all of those games mention gained cult status, it doesn't make up for their losses.

    Capcom were the pioneers of the 2d genre...✌️

    • @mechamania
      @mechamania 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mohammed Asif Qureshi *Atari, Magnavox, Texas Instruments, Activision, Imagic, Mattel, Coleco* were probably the most pioneering/best of the first round of 2D consoles, while the first round of pioneers, of 2D Arcade games, the best of which came before their console ports, which were, in turn, often the most sought console games (Atari's shitty Pac-Man port, for the 2600 was still the biggest-selling 2600 game, for the biggest-selling "first gen" consoles (unless you separate out the *Magnavox* Odysseys, as the first gen of consoles, by itself), were *Atari* (starting with Pong, which was the first cabinet success, in 1974, and then Asteroids, Battle Zone and Tempest (3D illusions...), and a million more), *_Taito_* (Space Invaders (THE pioneer that made video games a viable medium), Jungle Hunt, and etc.), *Williams* (Defender, and Joust), and *Namco* (Pac-Man and his family, along with Galaga and its series, and the Pole Positions), and *Konami* (Frogger, Scramble...), along with a few, but great, Donkey Kong games, by *Nintendo,* which *Atari* did the best job of porting, to consoles and home computers -- especially the Atari 8-bit series of home computers, which were the first *great* gaming PCs, which put out arcade-like ports, after being released, in 1979, three years before the Commodore 64 and six years before the NES, both of which the Atari 800 could amazingly rival, particularly for being released, in the 1970s. SEGA was a pioneer, too, although their best were really 3D-looking games, like Moto-Cross, Congo Bongo, & Zaxxon.
      CapCom didn't make great, well-known games, until the NES came out, in late 1985, a couple/few years after the video game crash of 1983. They made some great genre games, with their Ghosts n' Goblins platformer (which Nintendo made popular, with their Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. games)) and Schmup's (of which Space Invaders is widely agreed to be the first) like Commando. The 2D fighting genre they can pretty much claim to have pioneered the 2D fighting genre (which is obviously huge, with at least a dozen great series still going), particularly with Street Fighter II. They did some great, 2D, side-scrolling fighting games, but those were made popular by *Data East,* with Double Dragon, before CapCom made some great ones. So, I'd say that CapCom was the *last* of the 2D pioneers -- with the 2D fighting genre -- given that games, since then, have almost exclusively been in genres that were made popular, in the late 1970s and through the first half of the 1980s. Even 3D, first-person shooters were made popular by Battle Zone, in 1980...
      No denying CapCom has made some of the best games, in video game history, but given the number and popularity of the 2D genres that a handful of companies pioneered before the NES was even a multi-game arcade cabinet with a console in it, in the summer of '85. That was perhaps the best marketing idea, ever, which became obvious that Christmas, when the NES was every kid's most-wanted gift, after which CapCom started to make some of that consoles best games. The vast bulk of the pioneering had already been done, by that time... 🍻

    I was an arcade fanatic in my younger days, and "Last Duel" was one of the best (and graphically beautiful) arcade games I've ever played. I also remember playing the original "Street-Fighter" almost every day, and how even then very few people knew about it until after the release of "Street-Fighter 2." I cut my teeth on fighting games but, as I stated earlier," Last Dual" was just a damn-good (and very challenging) game. I was I could find it for some console or emulator.
