I would much rather store information locally. Rather than re-download stuff over and over again. Also, what if my internet is out??? I HATE games that require internet to play!!!
To be fair, you can set your local cache to be quite large. I would expect that it would not download "over and over again". But that does not change the fact that there is barely any _baseline_ amount of data with the default install.
I'm old enough to remember when thinking of downloading games was a ridiculous idea and physical was king. Cloud based gaming could happen but devs shouldn't waste a second trying to convince us it's ready today in 2024 cuz it sure ain't.
I still remember when people said. Internet speeds will never be fast enough to be able to download games off the internet, it will never happen. When it did start everyone said, Steam will never take off, because you don't own a physical copy of the game.
I said it before and Ill say it again. NEVER BUY A FULL PRICE AAA GAME ON LAUNCH!! ALWAYS wait 3 months until the bugs are fixed and the game is 30% off
AGREED!!! I haven't done that in years! I think the most recent time I did it though, because of the graphics was Cyberpunk. And I regretted it so much that I didn't play it for a year after all the bugs.
Even so, I see no incentive to upgrade since I have 2020. MSFS 2020 is also pretty well seasoned and works well on my machine. I just want to jump in, fly a plane and this just seems like a money grab.
Agreed. I bought XBox game pass for $10 (PC games only) and amazingly MSFS 2024 worked immediately for me and installed quite fast. If I decide to buy it I'll wait a few months for the bugs to get worked out.
I tend to wait more like 3 YEARS. At least in the past, you would often get to buy a bundle of the patched up base game + extensions at a discount, without having to cosplay as a beta-tester for an unfinished product.
@keynoteFlyer I'm what is called a "hardcore" VR simmer. So I spend hours per week in MSFS. In free flight it's the same performance. What he says is wrong. In VR everything is hard and heavy.. imagine that I'm using a PIMAX Crystal Light headset, rendering to 4248x5150 pixels per eye and I'm getting 36 fps (72hz) using frame extrapolation. It's a constant fight against DLSS/DLAA...
@keynoteFlyer nothing to do with his system its the servers are getting hammered that causing the scenery loading. MS and Asobo problem. He got below 30fps with frame gen not turned on and ultra settings which is overkill.
this is the best cloud system we have ever seen. Issues might be affecting the quality It is apparent that the people who whine the most are those who will NEVER be satisfied, no matter how good it gets.
No offense, but in 2024, it is an... *unsound* decision to buy ANY game, regardless of publisher or track record, on launch. You're just setting yourself up to be burned.
Yep it's all just about rehashed AC/COD crap, that's what the Corpo's like, instant huge profit on regurgitated nonsense. And all the good sims/realistic games are all Early Access for 10-20 years because nobody funds them anymore so they are dependent on instant income, and some (not all, but some) devs have gotten kinda thinskinned complaining about workhours, garnering sympathy and personal donations, then don't release the game anyway (In other words, total hacks) which doesn't help the situation either (in so far as you described it). It's not like it was in the days games got developed and released within accurate time tables, when we got proper simulators, albeit with issues as behooves simulators, at atmospheric prices. Sea Power for instance, new game/simulator taking aim at replacing Fleet Command, they needed to go EA just to get the funding to continue, not their first choice, but at least they're giving it every effort.
Oh you can BUY it on launch (and probably get bonus stuff, or maybe a discounted price), but don't expect to PLAY on launch! I did break down and get Starfield before launch...but I waited a WEEK before I downloaded the game (and it ran just FINE, and gave me the typical 'broad but shallow sandbox' that scratches my gaming itch.)
In general, yes. As a consumer I won't touch anything that's brand new, no matter how excited people are over it. I won't even use the most current version of an OS if I can avoid it. For the reviewers out there, they _have to_ make content based on Day 1 launch status. If they miss the bandwagon, the algorithm will drop their uploads into the toilet. If it happens too often, their entire channel will receive fewer front-page placements and choke out their audience. Personally, I welcome the Day 1 reviews. I _want_ that miserable pile of slop to be what everyone remembers the game for. I think publishers believe that they can "get away with" a half-baked release because they are fully aware of that contingent that waits until after the game is "fixed" to buy it. To a business owner, they don't see a downside. They see a second chance to capture their audience. And that doesn't sit right with me. The Day 1 reviews should be their legacy. They should feel the shame and failure knowing that they released garbage and that everyone sees it as garbage. I want that decision to hurt them.
@@taghazog You don't need petabytes of earth data. You can offer varying level of detail for offline modes. Likewise, you can offer the option to users to download and store specific in-depth information, such as specific regions or every necessary region along a route. You can present the user with the option of "Downloading route map data will use an additional X GB of disk storage. Would you like to proceed?"
@@MiniDevilDF They could but I guess they build the game around the streaming capatibility of the cloud servers and it's just easier like that for them to push update and real time information.
@@AwaKeRun974 It's just silly that they try to advertise that it saves bandwidth and disk storage, when it does the opposite by definitely not saving bandwidth, and puts users with slow internet connections, in remote areas, or with hard data caps in the non-customer category. Not everyone wants or needs amazing pinpoint accuracy map data for a flight sim. For most people, just seeing an okay texture of most of the world, and then having in depth textures and mesh for airports is plenty good enough.
This is essentially the problem and as Mircrosoft are the publisher here, it's 100% there fault, no doubt. It needed more time to bake in the oven, especially the server scaling which it doesn't appear there is any. Not good for the biggest cloud producer we have.
Yesterday...a fail, no question. This morning the Sim started up perfectly fine, I wanted to see if it was fixed....I had to leave for work. Came home around 5PM ET USA, around 5:30pm it loaded up, I actually had a very good enjoyable flight...(still getting used to new controls). But this was short lived, Loaded up the Beluga at Newark, the plane had no sound and the sim totally froze shortly after take off. Restart, new plane at JFK, again total freeze after the "zoom in" animation. RESTART after 10-15 min. Chose another Airbus (the aircraft selection screen was a jittery mess), but I chose another Airbus. Takeoff from LAX was ok, flying fine for 10 min, then loss of all controls of the plane, no flaps, couldn't throttle down, once again, sim froze up. Decided to try ONE final time, I only got to the Free Flight Globe screen before the entire sim crashed to desktop. So...yeah, this is real enjoyable! 😠
that is what you get supporting multi-billionaires that think the general public want pre-alpha games at extortionate prices. and to be fair it is well deserved criticism that Microsoft are getting when releasing games years before they are even at beta-testing stage.
Airline pilot here: if you get a glideslope warning, add thrust. Flying down the glideslope is backwards when you’re shooting an ILS - meaning that you use thrust to maintain glideslope and pitch to maintain airspeed. *cue “the more you know” splash screen*
thank you, I was coming to post that myself - got my civil license like 30 years ago when I was planning to go into ATC (then dropped both when I found I suck at multitasking ;) ), but I've kept up with sim-flying!
@@secondskins-nl i mean 2020 is like 250GB and thats very tame for what it offers, they could have done that, but we have this pile of dung, and they didnt even give us the option of downloading is another thing thats so shit.

Right? At least a basic joystick or something. But on the other hand, apparently you need an xbox controller to get through the menus because they couldn't get mouse working properly. One of the reasons I'm probably refunding it

@@bluecalx40 if you have to stream all the assets, you can't pirate the game. Msfs 2020 was all over the cracked game sites and is 98% functional without a legit copy. This is not.
The game is finished it's just not got the bandwidth at this exact moment to deal with all the people that bought it. The game is fine now. Think about just how much data this needs to stream I don't think you have put much thought into your comment at. The shear amount of data that is needed to stream this game it's just off The Charts I've not saying that it's good that they didn't have the bandwidth at first but I could certainly see why they would have a problem with over 500,000 people trying to download that much it's a lot to deal with. It's a modern Marvel that it does it at all to be fair gigabits upon gigabits every single second to thousands of people it's very difficult to achieve
I think if they tried to deliver all that data from the cloud to a local PC sou can play offline, it would be MUCH larger. Think about it, there are games with much less texture data (like CoD Warzone or Horizon Zero Dawn) that already break the 50GB, in some cases by A LOT. I wonder if people would be up for it if they had better performance but you need 500GB storage while still using compression and limited texture fidelity. Some probably would, but there would be a lot of outrage over that as well. However, having the game run at 25 fps while both GPU and CPU are half idle? What the hell, Microsoft?
Considering that 2020 was almost 1 terrabyte with all DLC's , rolling cache and extras, this was the logical step to go. Many may not like it but common, 1 terrabyte...
@@SirMadsen Honestly, the cost of a 1 TB NVME drive is the same or less than the price of the game depending on what version you bought. I wish they allowed local storage, the visual quality of MSFS 2020, after going back and forth between 2024 and 2020, is still an order of magnitude better than 2024 at ultra settings because they can't stream the data fast enough. I don't see how a streamed game will ever compete with one that has at least some local data.
@@ziff_1 Exactly. There are plenty of other games to play (or even replay) while waiting for bugs to be resolved and prices to drop. Many early adopters justify it as "supporting the business" or "rewarding the creators," but most of the time, it really just boils down to impatience and/or FOMO, plain and simple.
I'm an X plane 3rd party developer. MSFS crushed our 3rd party sales. They utterly destroyed many of us. Give X plane 12 another shot. It runs off of the hardware and you can get autoortho for free. We have some amazing aircraft coming soon that everyone that loves simulation will really enjoy! We are not a corporate 3rd party outfit, we love what we do and we still enjoy the simulator daily as enthusiasts.
X-Plane 12 and dcs are my go to sims. MSFS 24 made me hopeful but I still remember the let down of msfs 2020. Please bring back the shuttle re entry from X-Plane 11. I love that.
I don't care if the install size is 1TB or even more. I want the option to play locally. Local will always be better than server even if its not always practical. The people who want to go all out on sim games won't mind buying a new SSD for just 1 game and the cloud could be there for everyone else. The option to download locally may even save them some money in server costs in the long run.
@@fredEVOIX Data compression is a thing you know and it's also possible to asset stream as well as simultaneous decompress thanks to the simple fact CPUs these days have multiple cores.

I’m just shocked at how bad the photogrammetry is in my home town and other cities, compared to 2020… It literally looks SIGNIFICANTLY worse on the ground than a game that came out 4+ years ago. Can’t believe we got so hyped for THIS.
"I missed the old day from FSX" Seriously? FSX is the only game ever that was still not running alright 10 years after release. Innsbruck approach with 2015 hardware was still horribly slow.
Yeah, FSX was hot garbage too, as 2020 was after it. This is mainly from a technical standpoint. 2020 is still kinda meh in performance department when don't have top tier hardware.
Plus the fact you cannot update the built-in navaids at all. In my country there was a massive overhaul of the airspace after the sim was released, so even though you can update the FMC in the addon airplanes the builtin ATC goes bonkers when you try to actually follow any SIDs and STARs. Then you're forced to use third-party ATC and traffic management but they're honestly pretty terrible and don't really integrate well, not to mention you can't completely disable the built-in ATC anyway
As a member of a hardcore virtual airline that is 20+ years old, we all knew this would happen. Simulators, even XPlane and P3D, require 3rd party developers and extra content to become useful simulators. And as the SDK was not available to anyone but official partners, the launch could never be good. Server issues aside. Also, to say "MSFS2020 is not much better today, if at all, from the day it launched" is a wild comment Jay. There is some amazing 3rd party planes and sceneries. Also, a lot of the issues that existed (admitedly for way too long) have been ironed out by micorsoft. But that is why 2024 is such an annoyance. MSFS2020 was just getting good, and now all focus has shifted to another platform. Edit: All sims need 3rd party content to be good, has always been that way and MSFS2020 and 2024 have been cheaper and come with more out of the box than any other simulator ever has actually. Go pay almost double for XPlane and P3D, open them up with no addons and tell me MSFS2024 is horrible value for money.
I still feel burned when I realised that 2024 wasn't an expansion to 2020, a game they said was going to be supported for 10 years. I learned that "supported" means "not shutting off the servers yet" rather than "recieve expansions and upgrades". After that, I found 2020 to be considerably below the expectations their hype had me expecting. Like you pointed out here, their static terrain is awful, and the moving assets are woeful. I can't see myself spending more of my hard earned on another MSFS for a long time to come, I'll just stick with 2020 until they do shut off the servers the day after ther "10 years of support" ends and use x plane or something.
Besides your own taste on art level your definition of the support thing is wrong. MSFS 2020 will still receive new content, bugfixes and maybe even backported features and aircraft from MSFS24. That at least was officially announced - your next stop will be a world update for Brasil next month. Just keep an eye on the roadmap, especially the upcoming one for next year. PS: if you think X-Plane is the solution for what you mention be aware that you won't get even as close to a support level you've had with MSFS which added already whole chunks of content for such a long time on top of what you paid initially. They may add some fancy effects here and a turbine model rework for the 10th time there within 4 years but certainly not whole 3D cities with bespoke airports or 10+ new aircraft for free.
On the subject of aging oneself, I remember when MSFS was considered "the" test of PC clone compatibility to the point that clones would advertise they could run MSFS.
Not as bad as this though. It's been 2 days and I'm still unable to load into a plane and fly. And hilariously despite that I already have a trophy for a first flight I haven't done! lol.
Third day in and spent 7 hours in game. Total flight time I managed is one training mission. For the rest it's either impossible to log-in, impossible to load the main menu or impossible to load any flight. Then I didn't mention the regular crashes. I'm at 11 crashes now. As a software tester I've rarely seen such a poorly tested application. I have requested a refund as it's basically unplayable.
Honestly, Flight Simulator 2024 reminds me of the stuff we used to get in FSX. While the launch was pretty bad because of the servers, I was thoroughly impressed with how you could select ANY airport to start your career in. Once I got my private pilot certification, I was blown away by the fact that one of the first flights you receive is flightseeing. I cannot tell you how much I screamed over the possibility that I could fly around Singapore (my hometown) despite it being a miniature country. I was also impressed with how characters have localised names, and how Microsoft knows that we have a flying club. It is an upgrade for me, and something I wished I could have done in FSX. I played FSX when I was 9 years old. This iteration of flight sim makes me feel like a 9-year-old kid again, exploring my country and seeing all the landmarks from the sky. To add to that, it is also impressive how Microsoft added so many different types of mission variations in the game. Again, reminiscent of FSX. Missions like search and rescue, red bull races, etc. To call it a soulless game; one that does not have expansions, is a lie. FS2024 is a holistic simulation game, and I am thankful that Game Pass has allowed me to try this masterpiece. I would also say that FS 2024 is an upgrade to 2020, where 2020 feels barren. Once you take off, there is literally no anchor to hold you back to the game. Literally, I played FS2020 for like 2 hours and I stopped because I did not know what to do in the game (aside from free flights). So, I would politely disagree that 2024 is a pile of dog crap. To those who have played FSX missions, you might know what I am talking about.
I don’t recall him saying it was soulless. He said it was a disappointment and implied it didn’t seem like much of an upgrade over 2020, with launch issue woes because of the server stuff.
@@10shanwei they added a lot more stuff to do in FS2020 over time in the bush flights, landmark missions, etc, with each region pack addition that came after launch, but I agree that it felt pretty barren at launch. Sounds like FS2024 is much better in that regard.
Who cares? He spoke in the present and has every right to change his mind later (perhaps his comments will help) - I hope he changes his opinion because if he does then the sim will have improved, which it should have done before it reached release. We pay for these products based soley on trust but what we get is less than promised - every time. If that doesn't at least disappoint you then it should,
I won’t know…. That headline from a guy in the IT space is asinine. Was it a fucked launch? Absolutely. Name a game that didn’t have one… this one more than others, but still the norm. Is it still the best sim available? Also absolutely. And it will get fixed. Bullshit headlines for clicks will guarantee I never watch anything from your channel again.
Yeah, that’s why my Aviator Edition refund was approved today. MSFS2020 is where I want it without the nuttiness of this “remarkable” clown show. Maybe next year that tune will change if Microsoft and Asobo get their act together. Forcing people to stream the lions share of data was, in my humble opinion, a HUGE mistake. But with Microsoft at the helm it’s always been kick it out the door and worry about it later. Until then there’s so many other things to do on my PC to keep me more than occupied.
Yup, thank God for Steam. They refunded it even though I had over 3 hours playtime. My internet goes out too much to play only online. I’m happy with Xplane 12 and msfs 2020 so I’ll stick with those for now.
@@abstractdrumzhave another look in like a couple of days, the issues were literally just because they underprepared the servers for launch and it seems like things are already fine. personally i wouldn't have paid for it anyway until add-ons are ported.
I never played flight sim 10 like you did, however I played flight sim 2020 and used it to practise on before real flights during my Private pilot license days and I have to disagree with you in terms of how accurate it felt. It's pretty damn accurate! I practiced on flight sim before my very first flight and I was surprised at how similar it felt to the actual plane in real life. Obviously the motion aspect is missing as I just have the logitech yolk, rudder pedals and the throttle, mixture setup. but in terms of how the plane handles and flies. Id say they got it pretty spot on. The "Government approved" flight sim we used at the flight school....that felt like garbage. I am yet to test out 2024 flight sim but definitely looking forward to it. I would like to point out that I never used flight sim as a game to have fun and fly around and explore like most people would, I use it purely as training for actual flying in my spare time, so my experience of the game is definitely going to differ to most people who want the "fun" aspect out of the game.
@@krisv1038 All that money is for two separate games. Star Citizen and Squadron 42 which are being developed in tandem. People are just impatient and CIG gets a lot of complaints from people when they don't do things exactly as they imagined they should.
Having been in the Tech Alpha for MSFS 2020 I would strongly disagree. This is more like the first few days of the Tech Alpha than than the launch itself. This launch was rushed and the load on server performance was poorly judged.

@@onlysublime That's only if you do the whole world. A better option would of been the local cache like 2020 has. At least that way we could fly offline.

And after the online servers problems, you have a game that clearly has many many bugs, in missions, in the airplanes, etc! It's not acceptable to release a product like this!
Issues vary region to region and over time periods. For example the very few UK gamers who could play on the 20th for a while were then screwed as soon as Americans started to wake up and go online,
As a professional flight sim builder, I swear x plane deletes itself if you don’t use it for a week, the amount of times I come back to deleted key bindings, textures, and more is insane
I have played Microsoft Flight Simulator since day one as well. I have also been an X-Plane customer since it came out. X-Plane was superior by having detailed scenery disks allowing you to load only the scenery for areas that you were planning to fly. As an employee of a global software company, I cannot stress the negatives enough by trying to rely on an internet connection for usability. We had a test of a cloud based design program that customers simply wouldn't hop on board with, so it was mothballed. I am a strong supporter of hard copy ownership of games, movies, and software for local machine install and dependability. Take it back a notch Microsoft, don't try to fix it if it's not broken!!!
Will still give credit it to the team. When they released the video addressing the server collapse, they looked tired and frustrated with what was happening.
I've been in for several hours today. The performance is actually fairly reasonable. The problem is that the data streaming still doesn't really seem to be working. Also the game has a bunch of little bugs and a general lack of polish.
Its almost like counting on data server quality connections to everywhere in the US, when 1/4 still have 4g as their best internet option, leads to a poor experience.
There is not one actual flightsimmer alive that misses fsx.... we were all so happy to get msfs2020 because it was revolutionary. Fs2024 is not that, and has no excuse to be this bad.
Game companies prolly think we gamers would eventually get used to buggy/unfinished games at launch so long as there's the promise of fixing it later with updates. No. We've grown sick and tired of it. What I've actually grown used to is waiting for months to years after release before considering a purchase. Haven't bought a game on release day/week since college in the early 2010s.
Same, On the plus side I have twice as many games. Used to buy day one buggy mess games at full price, Now get Gold edition with all DLC's for 1/3 of the price a few years later and they are patched by then and playable without stressing out with random freezes or crashes to desktop. Industry needs a kick up the a$$ as do FOMO day one buyers.
I just play old games I have instead tbh. I legit buy maybe 1 or 2 brand new games each year, tops, even though I have the capability and capacity to buy more. It's just not worth supporting their garbage

Big time. It was a bad launch. But holy crap. Either bots or group think everywhere these days. That's the game everyone plays these days unfortunately
Honestly I’ve had no issues, except for the first 8 hours, since then the game was running flawlessly and I’ve already had loads of fun with it. It’s great. Sure, sometimes the wait times are a little worse because of the server, but I’m happy with waiting 5-10 seconds extra on every loading rather than dealing with the awfully huge installation of MSFS2020. The improvements from 2020 show immediately and I really think the wave of negativity isn’t very fair. Also I only have 100 Mbps connection, but it’s enough for an almost flawless 1440p ultra settings experience. The one issue I have with the cloud dependence of this game is the fact that we don’t know how long is Microsoft going to keep this cloud online and when will we lose access, but as a game pass user I’m not that concerned.
@@ksks6802 it's not about lower expectations, the game would be multiple TB if it wasn't online and it would still require photogrammetry on-demand. Offline is not a viable option for this game. Even 2020 is very crippled when running offline.
@@ksks6802 Well you obviously didn't understand my comment. My expectations were realistic. The mention of monthly subscription has nothing to do with my expectations from the game rn. I only mentioned the monthly subscription in relation to the fact that it won't be possible for Microsoft to keep the servers online indefinitely and therefore people who "bought" the game will eventually lose access, which because I only play it through the monthly subscription won't be an issue for me as I'll just switch to the newer game at that point. I hate it, when developers shut down a game, that can easily be played offline, such as The Crew, but in this case it's obvious that it doesn't make any sense to complain about not having an offline mode and I don't think anybody can be that naive to think that Microsoft will keep the servers online forever. Maybe think about what you've read before commenting bs.
This is why all games on pc are either torrented or bought on deeeeeeep sale. My current situation and the steam deck are a perfect example, powers been out for 4 days, this $600 paper weight and a $1k library aren't worth a satchel of Richards. But my Switch and physical library are worth every dollar I've spent on physical media. No online, no license check, I own it and it's being used exactly when I need it.
I just wanted to start by saying I really respect you and have been a long-time follower of your content. As someone who also has been a flight simmer since the SubLogic days and flown every platform out there, X-Plane, Prepar3D, and all the Microsoft Flight Simulator iterations, I can say I’ve seen this hobby evolve in incredible ways. Being a real-world pilot as well, I truly appreciate the effort that goes into making these sims as immersive and authentic as they can be. With that in mind, I think it's important to give the developers credit for the support and updates they’ve been consistently providing. It’s great to have Microsoft back in the flight simulation space, and the regular enhancements, like multithreading, multi-core CPU support, career mode, and so much more, make a strong case for the platform. Yes, the launch had its share of bugs, and continues to have bugs. Tuesday's release date was disappointing for many of us not being able to get into the sim; but I wasn't surprised with the issues given the popularity of the simulator. Perhaps they could have delayed it, but I’m confident they’ll address the issues. In the long run, I believe Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will continue to be the most groundbreaking and immersive simulator out there. For me, I don't miss the days of FSX, we have it so much better now. Keep up the great content Jay! You continue to deliver to the community and we love your channel. Cheers and blue skies to everyone!
Took 8.5 hours to get in. Scenery blurred, keybindings totally different, Velocity One has no bindings, for those who want to just jump into a flight, it's a bloody nightmare. Avoid for now. I'll see you all back in FS 2020.
"We could pull the data through the 6Gps data bus from the hard drive right into the CPU. I mean it's right there." "Negative. We are going to drag the data across the planet at 100Mps and up through the networking protocol stack, THEN put it on the data bus." Why? Just why? I'm betting it has to do with licensing the Google data. You can stream it, but you can't store it locally or some nonsense. If that's the case, just give us autogen. Being able to see my house is a novelty that wears off real fast. Stable scenery is much more important than accurate scenery.
That's something I'm going to experiment with. I used to use a 16GB RAMdrive, but the Rolling Cache is a different animal now. So I deleted the RAMdrive and set mine to 100GB on my local 4TB M.2 drive. I've got plenty of space left on that drive to work up to 1TB if needed.
While I agree the launch was a shitshow, we kinda saw it coming. Those server hamsters were on fire. But since the next morning, I've been having a fantastic time. It loads quicker, it runs better and it looks great (in my AutoGen country) and Career mode has been an absolute blast. I agree, don't buy it, just play it on Game Pass as part of the subscription. That way it feels like what it is, an online streaming service.
Jay, get a refund for the store version and buy the Steam version. Put it on a separate drive. I been flying it for 4 days without issues. Migrated most of my enhanced sceneries from MSFS 2024 to it with very little issues.
One thing that pisses me off about MSFS 2020 and 2024 is that they completely excluded the C-172 steam gauge version from the Standard version of MSFS. Apparently, they somehow made it impossible for third parties to add it too. I didn't know this before I bought MSFS 2020. If I want it now, I would have to spend another $80 for the deluxe version. This is pure greed on Microsoft's part to leave out the most popular plane ever built, unless you're willing to pay more.
To be fair, the textron aircraft (besides the 152) in the base 2020 were modeled after new airframes. 172’s haven’t come steam gauge equipped for a hot minute now. Sure a lot of the old school and rental ones comes with dials…but I do get why textron wouldn’t want them to include a 1981 P model as the base when it’s not representative of the current showroom offerings.
Nobody talks about the awesome default iniBuilds A330/A321XLR/A400M we get for free. 🥲 The A330 is probably the best default aircraft in any sim, ever.
@@NickSilverYTIf you're using it to practice for a real life PPL, it is very useful to have the steam gauge version, bc of what flight schools realistically have.
this game was purely a "release to maintain IP" game, or a "we are cutting old game server/suport buy new game please" the "recommended" specs stuff is not because the game needs it to run well, it needs it because they just didnt optimise the game, this becoming an extremely common trend, take dragons dogma 2, it STILL hasn't received a comprehensive optimisation patch so it just doesn't run at more than 30 fps even on top end hardware -.- if a game launches and doesn't have fortnight or gatcha game money then companies will just abandon the game and only push patches to meet a quota even if it doesn't fix anything -.-
The framerate is so low because it is very CPU limited, just like FS2020 was...This is starting to become a theme with a bunch of new games...I wish they could figure out how to parallelize CPU processes more efficiently...I'm sure it's very hard to do, but I think it's time they dump some resources into it already...
IRL pilot here, when you are in the "area of reverse command" its PITCH for AIRSPEED, POWER for ALTITUDE. X-Plane and MSFS are fine entertainment simulators but neither of them even with the best addons even come close to the real thing. Again they are fun entertainment simulators that can help with certain IRL skills if used appropriately but its no where even close to a 1:1, its not even close to a 1:1 in Level-D simulators.
Developers really need to stop releasing these half-baked, unfinished and unpolished games. I’m getting so sick of this trend of games coming out broken on launch day. It’s crazy how much of an issue this has become. Developers need to be held accountable.
2020 is DRAMATICALLY better than when it launched. 2020 is FANTASTIC. i will keep playing 2020 for the next 6 months until 2024 is actually in a playable state
Thank you so much Jayz for making this video! The community really needed the recognition from a big tuber that is not exclusivly a flightsim content creator. All your points are very valid. I am really really disappointed by this catastrophic launch of the new MS Flightsim. It sort of feels like Xplane 12s premature launch all over again(atleast you could Play Xplane 12 when it came out, so thats that). Its so sad, it has become the norm that studios will release unfinished products for the full price. I was "lucky" enough to get a discounted Version of MSFS2024 on launch day, its Really not worth the money atm. Crazy to think that one can spend OVER 200€ on the Aviator Edition and get THIS, and couldnt even play it on launch day. Microsoft really threw away the last bit of trust I had in them. So sad to see, especially since the Team from ASOBO are such kind, competent and generally just cool people. thanks, man. Keep the blue side up!
It's completely fine. The servers were overrun, the sim-game itself is so much more polished than 2020 was when it came out. This video was a pretty hardcore overreaction
I’d stick to MSFS 2020 and fly the Fenix , PMGSs, iFLY, and all of those developers’ aircraft’s until they bring them here to 2024. Thank you for your honest review man 😎👍
I’ve got over 300 hours on msfs 40th anniversary and don’t have any of this guy’s complaints. It works well for me. I certainly wouldn’t describe it as “so broken”.
The problem with this sim and 2020 is what will they become once their life cycle ends given they are relent on the servers to stream it? When 24H2 goes live things will improve (Performance wise) given it will have Direct Storage 2.0.
I would much rather store information locally. Rather than re-download stuff over and over again. Also, what if my internet is out??? I HATE games that require internet to play!!!
Not to mention all of the extra write cycles this is gonna burn on your ssd.
To be fair, you can set your local cache to be quite large. I would expect that it would not download "over and over again". But that does not change the fact that there is barely any _baseline_ amount of data with the default install.

SOOOO many have been convinced that you can do everything in the cloud with the same quality as you can locally. it will NEVER happen.
Those people believe the eye can't see FPS improvements past 60 😂
I'm old enough to remember when thinking of downloading games was a ridiculous idea and physical was king. Cloud based gaming could happen but devs shouldn't waste a second trying to convince us it's ready today in 2024 cuz it sure ain't.
Agreed.
I still remember when people said. Internet speeds will never be fast enough to be able to download games off the internet, it will never happen. When it did start everyone said, Steam will never take off, because you don't own a physical copy of the game.
What a dumb take, the cloud is 100% the future.
I said it before and Ill say it again.
NEVER BUY A FULL PRICE AAA GAME ON LAUNCH!!
ALWAYS wait 3 months until the bugs are fixed and the game is 30% off
Oh yeah, that's so true. I learned that with Cyberpunk and No Mans Sky.

Getting sub 30fps at 1440p with that rig is absolutely shocking. It appears that scenery loading into the cache is the new bottleneck.

It is apparent that the people who whine the most are those who will NEVER be satisfied, no matter how good it gets.
No offense, but in 2024, it is an... *unsound* decision to buy ANY game, regardless of publisher or track record, on launch. You're just setting yourself up to be burned.
Yep, I pretty much wait at least 6 months on everything now
Yep it's all just about rehashed AC/COD crap, that's what the Corpo's like, instant huge profit on regurgitated nonsense.
Outstanding comment. A philosophy of life now, in fact.
When I buy a game, I want it owned and stored locally. I'm tired of this trend where games can not be played offline.
I agree but it's just not possible to have all the world map without cloud.
good luck storing petabytes of earth data :P
They knew it was not ready for release, but had to do it because Marketing wouldn't allow them to rename the game to MSFS 2025.
Should have been called "The Next Generation" instead of 2024.
This is essentially the problem and as Mircrosoft are the publisher here, it's 100% there fault, no doubt. It needed more time to bake in the oven, especially the server scaling which it doesn't appear there is any. Not good for the biggest cloud producer we have.

Everything is working fine for me 🤷♂️
Yesterday...a fail, no question.

I hate the cloud storage thing. 50GB is not huge, and offline is so worth it! Ughhhhh
What the hell, Microsoft?
they did this only because they want it to make unpiratable. Those few gigs are worth nothing, when vast majority of game is in the cloud.

GTA IV begs to differ
Just like windows 10 was the last windows 😂
Cloud streaming will kill this game, there should be an option to download large elements of it

I feel the problems deserve this while I agree there is a lot, and I mean a lot good as well.
“Legit pile of dogshit, never buy this.“ I'm kinda curious how the headline will turn in a while when he revisits it.
Wont turn, it was released as trash and so the title should represent how it was released.
I love the collective amnesia we all have. FS2020 was also a buggy, unoptimized mess at the start.
The same. The biggest and continuous issue with live service games is...latency, lag...
I almost got the aviator edition also but was like 🤔 I’m fine with 2020 I have fun it runs pretty smoothly on 2 screens glad I didn’t preorder
Yup, thank God for Steam. They refunded it even though I had over 3 hours playtime. My internet goes out too much to play only online. I’m happy with Xplane 12 and msfs 2020 so I’ll stick with those for now.

"Coming soon ™️ is basically anything Microsoft"
Oh my sweet summer child. You should try getting involved in Star Citizen.
Isn't that the official alternate title? Not to mention the costs makes Microsoft look altruistic in comparison.
Tbh, they’ve never said it’s finished game… this is supposed to be…
@MarkKidsley1989 being in alpha state after this many years and that much of the publics money is hilariously pathetic for star citizen lol
In DCS we call “coming soon” next year unless we completely forget about it then retcon our posts to gaslight you that we never said it.
@@krisv1038 All that money is for two separate games. Star Citizen and Squadron 42 which are being developed in tandem. And FS2020 won game of the year....
Having been in the Tech Alpha for MSFS 2020 I would strongly disagree. This is more like the first few days of the Tech Alpha than than the launch itself. This launch was rushed and the load on server performance was poorly judged.

To be fair MSF20 was broken aswell
why didn't Microsoft just ask the community if we want cloud based or local storage............ 99% of us dont care about drive space being used... if need be we can easily just add a TB to compensate
the map data in the OG Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was 2 petabytes (2 million gigabytes). The Bing Map data has since grown through improved imaging. in case, you didn't translate, 2 petabytes = 2000 TB. I'm pretty sure you don't want to download that.

At least that way we could fly offline.

As a professional pilot, I like MSFS 2020 and 2024 better than X-Plane.

4:25 Aaaand you lost me. Guess I'll play another game then :).
@robinbegley1077 then stick to 2020? It's not like it doesn't exist?
Well, all games are broken on launch these days and every publisher lies. Like "EA, It's in the game!" Screw off board rooms and investors!

I'm with you. I wait until after the release, listen to the reviews and then wait...until they turn good, or I just don't buy the game.

And nothing but cry babies
So you have lower expectations because your on a monthly subscription...lol. the world has aids I swear
@@ksks6802 it's not about lower expectations, the game would be multiple TB if it wasn't online and it would still require photogrammetry on-demand. Offline is not a viable option for this game. Even 2020 is very crippled when running offline.
@@squishy-tomato I'm not wasn't referring to that
@@ksks6802 Well you obviously didn't understand my comment.

"We could pull the data through the 6Gps data bus from the hard drive right into the CPU. I mean it's right there."
"Negative. We are going to drag the data across the planet at 100Mps and up through the networking protocol stack, THEN put it on the data bus."
Why? Just why? I'm betting it has to do with licensing the Google data. You can stream it, but you can't store it locally or some nonsense. If that's the case, just give us autogen. Being able to see my house is a novelty that wears off real fast. Stable scenery is much more important than accurate scenery.
Most people I know are setting their cache to 500gb-1tb+ to save as much data locally as possible because the streaming is sketchy AF.

Sounds like theres enough BUGS in this to feed a small town.
Apparently you will be able to buy all of the planes separately at some point
