  • Should you buy the iPad Pro or the Galaxy Tab S7+? Can the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus dethrone the iPad Pro as the new king of tablets? Over the past few years, #Apple has been sitting pretty comfortably at the top as the best tablet around and it almost seemed like each year the battle was over before it began.
Then came #Samsung and said, not so fast, we want a shot at the crown - and depending on what you need, they may have done it.
I’ve used both for everything from media consumption, office work like emails and notes, managing my TH-cam channel, replying to comments, doing social media work and even gaming.
Today, I’m going to put the #ipadpro and the Galaxy Tab S7+ head to head, talk about the good and the bad and help you choose which one is right for you.

I have tried both, but for note taking I have to give it to s pen for two reasons.
1.) The s pen is lighter, so your hand doesn't get as tired. When I am doing math homework for hours, the heaviness of Apple Pencil actually kinda bothers me.
2.) The soft tip gives you good resistance for control. I have tried Apple Pencil with mat screen protector, but I didn't like it as much since it feels like I'm grinding the pen-tip to the screen.

As a S7+ user I have to admit I think I definitely made the right choice. Yes 'some' apps aren't quite as optimised as well, but it is an Android limitation, not a Samsung one. As Sagi keeps repeating, the Samsung has much better screen quality and that is always the deciding factor for me. You spend all your time looking at that screen, and if you haven't used a Super AMOLED screen before, when you see one, it is much better than what other manufacturer's have on offer. The benchmarks that show the iPad beating the Samsung don't really translate to real world use where in combination with tightening up the transition animations through developer mode, the Samsung I would say is nothing short of lightening quick.
The whole package is just tons better value, with not really any stand out negatives. When I bought the tablet I got the folio case for free, and a small discount for pre-ordering. I priced up the equivalent ipad pro, and was shocked to find it would've cost me £500, that's right, £500 MORE. That's just nuts!
I think Samsung will have to have a solid answer to the upcoming offerings from Apple this year though, particularly if Apple modernise the designs of their macbooks and ipads to get rid of all the black bars and terrible old looking bezels. I'm curious about the M1 macbooks at the moment, and will be watching closely the offerings from Dell XPS line and the new Macbook range, but for what you actually get with the S7+, it is by far the better device in my opinion.

The refresh rate of the Galaxy Tab S7+ is not static, when you're on 120Hz it dynamically decides whether to use 120 or 60, unlike what the video says. Go into developer settings and enable the FPS monitor to see this in action, that portion of the review that you gave to the iPad was the same on the Galaxy Tab.

Was undecided whether to buy an iPad Pro 12.9" or iPad Air 4 as my first iPad ever. Bought the iPad Air 4 in the end. Having used Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 for the past four years since its release, mainly for drawing and media consumption, I am finding iPad Air 4 in some areas a bit of a let down, and I am so glad I have not splashed out on the beyond expensive iPad Pro 12.9". From a drawing point of view, I find the S-Pen to be smoother and much more precise than Apple Pencil 2nd Generation claims to be, or rather, what some people claim it to be. The fact that Apple is not transparent about their Pencil pressure sensitivity levels is quite telling. Bought Procreate on the iPad Air: not impressed. Some brushes are fun to use, can come up with some pretty decent decorations and abstract paintings, but overall I think it is an overly priced app for what it offers. I much prefer Autodesk Sketchbook, which I have happily used for the past 4 years on my old Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, and also tested it on my new iPad Air 4: really like night and day between that and Procreate. I am seriously contemplating buying Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 plus, for the larger display and Super Amoled, which is what I am accustomed to and frankly prefer over Liquid Retina. Anyway, for drawing, personally I prefer the experience Samsung can provide with its comes-in-the-box, no-need-to-be-charged and decent amount of pressure sensitivity underrated S-Pen, over the expensive rip off that is Apple Pencil. Looking forward to see how much the S-Pen has improved on Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 plus. Thank you for the review, you have got yourself a new subscriber. Peace :)

Amazing video, since I’m not tied down to any ecosystem as I like things from both apple and android and often switch between the two when it comes to their phones and watches. I was debating between these two tablets and I find that the integration system between the tab s7 plus between it and windows it much easier and file and data transfers are more fluid between pc and Samsung. I like that the tab s7 also has extended display which is so nice and dex is very nice since I don’t have a laptop. They both aren’t full replacements for laptop but I have a fully built pc and the connection and transition was just easier on the tab s7 even when using adobe, word, excel they seem to function more properly on the tab s7 in my experience. Both gorgeous devices. I wish the tab s7 had that magic key board though as the keys are back lit and the stand feels more solid.

    • @julianmorgan5994
      @julianmorgan5994 3 ปีที่แล้ว +48

@@MobileAura Couldn't disagree more as a S7+ user. The screen quality is much better, and at the end of the day that's what you stare at, it is the most important factor. The Snapdragon 865 is an excellent processor, and in real world use, is nothing short of lightening quick. There are plenty of TH-cam videos showing the S7+ beating the Ipad pro for speed too so no idea why you're saying it's slower? if anything it's also more intuitive as you have Dex, which means you have a laptop-like experience too if needed for workflow, something the Ipad hasn't got at all.
The only downside is a few apps here and there aren't optimised, but that isn't a Samsung problem, that is android. For most users, the S7+ represents a vastly better value product at a saving of £400-500 for the Apple equivalent. The good news as well is that more apps are getting optimised all the time, not to mention Samsung has now committed to 4 years of software updates!

    • @MobileAura
      @MobileAura 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

@@julianmorgan5994 What you’re talking about is in-paper vs real-world. In the real world my iPad is much more fluid much more intuitive and absolutely a much smoother experience in every aspect. Every app is just nicer/better made/less glitchy.
I’ve used my iPad Pro 2018 since, well, 2018, and I have only 2 complaints: lack of 5G, 4 GB ram becomes annoying sometimes (rarely).
I’ve used the Tab s7+ since release, but it’s been collecting dust for 3-4 months... Complaints: Codm/pubgm is unplayable even today, gestures are slow and unresponsive at times, huge white bar at the bottom of apps that go full screen, every app feels like a dollar store version of iOS app lower res not as nice looking. Buttons are annoying on the side/not as nice. Device is almost as heavy even though it’s much smaller display-wise.
You say better screen? I agree in terms of quality, but 4:3 aspect ratio + lcd means no OLED burn = better “screen” for me in the iPad, yet again comparing paper specs vs real world experience.
Trust me I’m a huge apple hater and I really really tried to love the tab s7+, I was so excited to never have to deal with Apple again, turns out the tab s7+ to me is like a generic version of the iPad Pro with 5G, faster charging, more ram and some unique features, but compared to the iPad Pro they can’t compare, they’re not even in the same ballpark experience wise. And this is coming from somebody who hasn’t had a PC since 2014 and has been a purely mobile platform person. I’m on my tablet 14-16 hours a day if I’m not working.
So these little fluidity things and optimization issues make a huge gigantic difference in your day-to-day use of the product, for me it’s just not there yet, and won’t be for a very long time.

I have both, as a graphic designer. The s-pen feels way more comfortable than Apple pen although Apple does a bit better with palm rejection... I use the Tab s7+ way more than my IPad.
At this moment Clip Studio Paint is the best asset Tab s7+ has for artists, it is a bit complicated to use at 1st, but it is a very complete app. Apple still has procreate, which is great. And this is really where it comes down to when comparing these two devices: The apps. Tab s7+ severely lacks of pro level apps. I use Clip Studio the most for drawing, Krita for animation, kinemaster for video editing and wave editor for audio editing. Those to me are the best apps available for each categories.
The hardwares are equally great, Premium, you can't go wrong with either. Image and sound quality on both are amazing.

You see how your breath creates a big cloud infront of you, now try the same with a mask. The cloud will be much much smaller if even visible. So the mask helps to reduce the spreading.

I feel weird because I have a Galaxy S21 Ultra, but I'm an artist that does work for money sometimes (mostly just a hobby), and I strongly prefer the more canvas-like aspect ratio and the pen feel of the Apple iPad Pro. I don't really play games on my tablets or phone, and I watch Netflix usually on my 4k TV (I don't get out too much), so those particular facts not a dealbreaker for me. With the 2021 iPad pro, I think that the screen and its weak spots will definitely outperform the Tab S7+.

Nice review. I have an older iPad Pro but I prefer Android, even for tablets. Apple still has its advantages and exclusive perks. But here's why I find the Tab S7+ to be the best choice.
Customization and full access to the file system. Android has a much more customizable interface than Apple. I enjoy the array of live wallpapers Android has to offer. The animations are customizable and practically limitless. iPad has animated wallpaper but all the ones I've tried on iOS are only on the lockscreen and only move when pressed.
Samsung has a really nice edge screen feature that allows you to quickly access favorite or frequently used apps at any time. I like this feature. It works nicely with Nova Launcher, which I prefer over Samsung's launcher.
On Android, it is easy to download, send, extract, archive, arrange, rename and convert any file type. This is very important. It is an essential function iOS lacks. iPads have a file manager but they are nowhere near as useful or capable as the file managers on Android. There is a default file manager on Samsung devices but there are several others that can be installed and come with more features. iOS does not allow users to have as much access to the file system as Android does. For example, I can connect a portable hard drive or thumb drive to the Tab S7+ and instantly access the files without transferring them to the tablet. I like being able to do that. Especially when I am screen-mirroring.
This is another advantage Samsung has. Tab S7+ can wirelessly mirror content to any smart TV. It is basically universal. iPads only screen mirror to specific TV models unless you purchase an Apple TV.
Android also has a broader selection of web browsers and much more efficient ad-blocking options than iOS. The default web browsers on the Tab S7+ and iPad Pro are alright but not great. To me, Safari, the stock iOS browser, works better than other browsers on iOS. But on the Tab S7+, other browsers are better than the Samsung browser and comparable to a desktop browsing experience.
Expandable storage is another important feature for my uses. Tab S7+ has it. iPad Pro does not. I have the 512GB storage option on the S7+. It was on sale for $880 at Best Buy. The Sandisk 1TB memory card that retails for $500 at Best Buy was on sale for $190 but cost $140 because the $50 giftcard given with the tablet purchase was applied. So I was able to get 1.5TB of storage on the Tab S7+ for $1,020 when the 1TB iPad Pro which is non-expandable, hasn't really gone on sale, is still $1,500. With the Apple Pencil, that bumps it up to $1,630. Samsung gave me more storage, a stylus and better overall specs for over $600 less than the iPad.
Speaking of value, you mentioned the s-pen being included with the Samsung. Not only is it included. It can do more than the Apple Pencil. For basic use, the S-pen does not need to be charged. The Apple Pencil does. S-pen has bluetooth, which is more useful than I realized it would be. It is an extension of my tablet similar to the way my smartwatch is an extension of my phone because of the media control functions. This is especially useful when implementing Samsung's dual audio, which allows me to connect any two bluetooth audio devices simultaneously, regardless of the brand or model. This works great for when you want to stream music without having songs interrupted by calls or notifications like you would if your phone was connected. If you are hosting an event at home whenever life goes back to normal, the pen offers a convenient way to control sound volume, pause, play, repeat and skip tracks without having to pick up the tablet.
I also like being able to use the pen as a pointer and mouse through the S-mouse app. I don't use the camera very often but I like being able to use it as a shutter button.
Gaming is also an advantage the S7+ has. Their partnership with Microsoft and Google opens them up to a broader range of gamers. Android's support of emulators compared to the lackthereof that exists on Apple stands out to me. On the Tab S7+, I can download and apply patches to run modded versions of old-skool games. I can run the original, non-modded games from any region for most consoles of the Sega Dreamcast era all the way back fo Atari. Apple is playing catch up and just recently started supporting certain kinds of bluetooth gamepads when pretty much every gamepad imaginable has been compatible with Android for years. It is not as easy to install emulators on the iPad as it is on Android. On top of that, I have used chains of adapters to connect original wired SNES and PS1 controllers to the Samsung while also connecting to the TV via HDMI for the full retro console on the go vibe. Apple doesn't do that.
Samsung's native note-taking app is practically perfect. I use it frequently and have not seen anything similar that I like better. Also, I find the aspect ratio of the Tab S7+ more ideal for reading digital comic books than the iPad.
These aren't all of the reasons I prefer the Tab S7+. But I just wanted to share these because the iPad is great but the Samsung can do things that I don't think many people realize it can do. Or maybe these are just uses most people don't think of.

I wish that Samsung would get around to updating the Tab S2 8" - for light media consumption and browsing that was the perfect tablet 5 years ago. It is very light (272 g) so if you use it as e-book reader it is incredibly comfortable. But because it is a 6 year old design it has poor battery life.
I love the Tab S7 and S7+ but they are just too big and heavy for me - not really a criticism they are aimed at a more professional work environment than my home use.

I used to be an iPad user but found Tab S7 plus extremely power and versatile. I recognize though the iOS has a better eco system for softwares which delivers slightly better experience. But the iPad is way too expensive when you have to match up with the Tab S7+ with pen and keyboard. You would need to pay nearly 50% more on the iPad when you got a pen and a keyboard and storage up to 256G. The Apple tax for additional memory is penalizing its fans.

Ok let me sum it up for people:
-If you are in a school, office, or teaching workflow that needs a good multitasking device. (Plus more affordable and expandable storage) Choose Samsung.
-If you are an artist or someone who needs a beefy processor thing for work (graphics designer or video editor) yet you don't want to buy a laptop or pc, choose Apple because of the M1 chip. (Granted it's more expensive and the pencil is NOT included, if it suits you more than Samsung, then buy it.)
