  • A full on refurb on this one. Carb work, deck rebuild, repaint, etc. The subscribers voted green over red for the paint on this riding mower, so here it is!

It does look new. Good enough that it sold already, the new owner literally just picked it up 15 minutes ago! Thanks Mike!

Very nice restoration on that tractor ! The color is great. Here's a tip for foggy headlight lenses, don't know if it works on lawn tractors or if maybe you have already heard of this but it has worked great for me. If you've seen that yellowish fog that builds up on the headlight lens, try spraying some mosquito spray on a clean rag and wipe it on the lens. You will need to repeat a few times until the stickiness goes away but it will come out like new. I would bet that the lens on a tractor is made of the same plastic as newer headlights so it should work. Yes,,,, mosquito spray.

I've heard about that, but never tried it. I have some really good stuff that takes little effort and has great results. Maguire's Plast-X is what I use.

@@randomwrenching mguires makes awesome products, I've used their polish to remove scratches in paint. If you ever have a chance to try mosquito spray it works like a champ and doesn't take long at all.

Hey Random, :O) I have the same Lt1000 20 HP V twin. I also picked up an in better shape used Deck. I'm getting it ready for summer.
Have new blade break levers on order. One is missing the other is junk.
I search out ideas in here. Found you. I enjoyed your' vid. Will head out to the shop after this comment. I'm researching the best rust
inhibitor for the new old Deck. I'm thinking I will just use good old Rustoleum paint.
That green paint looks great, my opinion.
Thanks for the video Fun watching.

Thanks John! I have in the past, used JB Weld to glue on some salvaged brake friction material off an old automotive brake shoe to use as the friction material on the brake levers. It worked AWESOME! A good glossy black paint under the deck would surely help, but if the mowing surface is sandy or rocky, it will be removed very quickly. I use automotive undercoating oil.

@@randomwrenching Thanks for the reply. I did the same with used motorcycle disc brake shoes on the old deck a while ago.
I am thinking this mower had a lot of abuse as I get into it.
while sanding rust I noticed the leading edge is bent. Today I think I will try to jack it out some. It's not bad but I had noticed the mounts on the front are not parallel, maybe I can just bend them a little.
I need to research the old deck more for parts I can use.
      Later, John

Good day from Waterloo. I have 20 yardworks from CTC, do u think carb would be same as mine. Up here in St.Jacobs gas station has 93 octane only place around.
U know all tools should be put back , I wear glasses, had them on forehead, looking around to find glasses lol
So it is not that hard to take back fenders off?
Wow that almost looks JD green, I think it ois olive green, mine is same. Nice video. Thanks for now.

Hey Don. Hard to say about the carb for sure. If yours is a V-Twin, then its not the same. If its an opposed twin like this one, then it might be the same or similar. Back end came off with literally 4 bolts after removing the shifter handle. Thanks for watching!

Do u happen to know what size deck cable..been having issues with my deck cable breaking. I have had to replace it twice in the past 2 months..

    • @randomwrenching
      @randomwrenching  ปีที่แล้ว

Most times there is a seized pulley arm causing the cablentk break. The original cable should have a part number on it
