    Great video solving a real problem, thanks. I have several MTD and Sears machines of the green, silver and red, all need some areas of repaint of one kind or another, from bubbling and rusting. The paint MTD used on these was not very durable, IMHO. (Just a note, there's a typo: "Dupli Color Direct match Deep Jewel green mica which was used on many Ford vehicles, part # BFM0237".) It's BFM0327, as in the video.

    Thanks, Mr. Tecumseh, great video! Redoing my 2001 LT1000, I'll give that Duplicolor a try. What I see in the factory 'Polo Green' original paint, is just a tiny, tiny bit of blue tint, sort of a very faint blue/green, not quite 'jade', but I'm seeing a little blue. Maybe it's just my eyes, I don't know. Most of the 'Hunter Green' products are definitely GREEN all the way.

    • @Mr_Tecumseh
      @Mr_Tecumseh  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think your right about the blue in there, I've seen straight blue on one with a hood with fade. That Jade is super close.

      They don’t carry it at Home Depot. Go to Autozone it’s GM 2002 Buick dark polo green it was used on cars like the lasabre. It’s a direct match. 14.99 a can, cheapest you can find it.

    The dupli-color green while a great color match, sprayed absolutely terrible!!! At all my local auto parts stores it was around $20 with taxes, and the can leaked and despite no visible damage. It would pool up around the tip and I would have to wipe it so I could shake the can. I use a lot of spray paints and shook the can plenty from the start, it threw blobs of paint all over my mower. This was the absolute worst experience I have had with spray paints like this. I don't know if others have had this problem, but I would definitely never buy this brand again myself. I wanted to try the racing green by Rustoleum, but couidn't find it anywhere.

      @MatthewCraun-ub7rm 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep I just painted the grill of my mower yesterday and had the same issue with the can. Left some splatter dots but I blended it well enough. And yes, it’s $20, not $11 haha

    • @Mr_Tecumseh
      @Mr_Tecumseh  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your only other option is the pains directly from Sears and it’s around $50 bucks a can now. If you can find the same color in a different brand at about the same price, more power to you. If you do let me know.

      Had the same problem with the can leaking all over, but worse the Deep jewel green was not even close to the color of my mower, so now I have to find something to paint with it so I am not out $21 for a can that sits in the paint cupboard

      @@TheSkinking A comment down below said 2002 Buick Polo Green. But for me the stuff in the video worked fine. Particularly the footrests the most common area that it needs repaint. Between blending it in and the black footrests, I’ve gotten it off un-noticeable or so hard to tell I’ve gotten it off several times. I repainted the entire deck off a Craftsman walk behind that uses the same color and after it was done, you couldn’t tell, looked stock.

    Does that metallic mate nickel color work on a Craftsman LT2000 I got as well?

    • @Mr_Tecumseh

      As long as the silver on the LT2000 is the same silver as on the old LT4000's.

    • @Mr_Tecumseh
      @Mr_Tecumseh  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends which LT2000, if its AYP made, I believe so yes, if its the newer MTD made ones, probably not, but your going to have to do the leg work on that, because I haven't had to respray one of those newer units. I know that Metallic nickel is a match to all the Craftsman Tractors that used that color from roughly 1978-1995.

      @@creepingenderman6697 No, it might, because I had a 2003 Craftsman LT1000, that was silver, made by AYP just like yours is and looked like it was that same silver, but I did not have one side by side, so I can't say for sure. But like I said, dp a little leg work and you should be able to find out. If it isn't a match, the match is out their, you just gotta look around.

      People keep complaining about it. Unless you wanna pay sears $60 bucks for 1 can of there spray paint which is still available on the partsdirect site, that’s about a closest match your gonna get. I know I’m not giving Sears $60 for a tractor I’m flipping. I’ve touched up a few of those tractors with the above mentioned paint and had no issue blending it into a match to where it was un-noticeable. I repainted this walk behind completely with it and you couldn’t tell it had been repainted unless I told you and even then, it looks stock. Try automotive brands or others, if you find a dead on match at $10 or less like I was let me know. Here’s the push mower. Looks stock.

      Commentor down below says Buick polo green. Older 90’s car. If you can find that stuff then there ya go. If you do, it’ll be a 12oz can of duplicolor at $15.99+ tax, but if you need two cans you’re already at $32. So use it sparingly, those 12oz cans don’t spread far. My option worked for me. If you want it perfect, for like a personal machine might be worth getting the Sears paint but for flipping, the name of the game is keeping costs to a minimum and saving as much time and turnover. So if I can get the paint to blend and it’s not noticeable which it hasn’t been and the tractor sells no problem, the end goal was met.

    Does anyone know a good touch up color for the Craftsman LTX1000? The OEM Sears color is Craftsman Gold, but I haven't been able to find it. I've been looking at Duplicolor Suburst Gold, Metallic Gold and Light Prarie Tan online but I'm not sure which would be the best match. For mine, I have to touch up the foot pans and the edge where the fender piece meets the mount tower for the instrument panel.

      Really? Because this Craftsman Push mower was painted with that Duplicolor and it looks as close to stock as you can get. If I didn’t just say it was repainted you wouldn’t know. Maybe your color blind.

    The duplicolor in this video may match the tractors but is definitly not a match for a craftsman snowblower. In case anyone is looking for that reason. Unfortunately i don't have a match yet so i can't give it here in this comment. Sorry.

      Which ones? I've had 2 Murray/Noma units that were green and use the same color and several of the Grey/silver ones that were the same colors mentioned on here. If your talking about the in between AYP units, I believe they were primarily red and will be the regal red, those were also made and sold under Poulan and Husqvarna and any other ayp product. Than you have the later and current MTD units which started with sears but have since gone with all of the old Sears products over to Sears. That's the thing about "Craftsman" products, it depends on the manufacturer although the primary manufacturer of their products from the 50's-90's into the 2000's was AYP which was roper prior and David Bradley at the start. It became HOP when Sears sold it off because it was their asset and was incorporated to Electrolux which was the parent company. The Tractor in the video was an AYP. But you had Murray/Noma making their snowblowers from the 60's- into the early 2000's. Those notorious big old 3 stage units they sold were Noma's. Murray was aquired by Briggs and Sratton product division in 2003, so that took them away, Sears own AYP stepped up to the game briefly for about 6 years. A lot of those units were plagued with issues because they were built with 1 piece plastic transmissions that are not servicable and are as much as the machines to replace and made them unpractical from that stand point. MTD took over for Sears final years, although technically still in business, all the current products being made are all MTD and were sold to Lowe's and now sold from Lowe's, those models will not be matches to the colors shown here. For MTD refer to MTD's paint color code chart. The pdf is available online, just do a search and it will pop up.
