Well disigned placement of cutouts. Outstanding woodworking expertise clearly and simply explained completely - yet succinctly. Museum quality work. Super great video.
@@kennethpaulwoodworking6404 thinking out inlet. If i stack 2 pieces of 1/2 in or 3/4 of different types/shades of wood, 2 sided tape them together. Cut a shape with my scroll saw. Then i can swap the shaped wood from the top to the bottom with light sanding and glue..... just thinking out loud
Very nice Mr. Paul. Thanks for sharing. If I may ask, what would you charge to make a case like this for a Smith 629 Classic with 6.5" barrel, and cutouts for a pair of handcuffs and three speed loaders, and using the barrel hinges, key loc kb, and lid support? Thank you again
@@HappyPappynKatyTX Gotcha...totally understood. I really could be happy with a case without the inlet insignia and just a lid with the SW logo burned into the wood. Thanks for your reply.
Amazing boxes. I’ve been studying your videos as I’m making a pistol case. I’m currently at the point of wrapping my 2x6 cutout of the pistol in wool and I can’t for the life of me figure out how you wrapped those inside corners so cleanly. Are you using a foam backing between the fabric and wood or did you route a round over on the cutout? Any tips would be much appreciated!
Hello, thank you for the kind words. Yes I put a 1/4” round over on the top of the cut out. I pull a lot of extra material through the cut out before I start to secure an outside edge, I like to pull an extra 12 inches or so through to give me some material to grab onto while I am working the material around the corners. Remember wool felt is a non woven material so it can be stretched and shrunk in any direction. I secure small sections at a time on the outside edges securing underneath with staples and hot glue. Sometimes a pair of locking visegrip pliers can be useful to pull with. Keep working the felt both pulling and sometimes using a smooth edged stick to push with. Sometimes it helps to have a spay bottle filled with water to moisten a stubborn area. I hope this helps you. I have a pistol case coming up soon, I will video the felt procedure. Thank you, Ken.
@@kennethpaulwoodworking6404 thank you so much for the tips! I’ll definitely do a round over then and I bet the water spray is the other missing link. Can’t wait to see your new videos and thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you for the kind comment. Kenny
Inlet. I would love to see a video of you actually performing the process. It's one of a kind from what i have seen on youtube. Amazing.
I will add a demo of inlet work to the list of upcoming videos, Ken.

@@nathanielperry6910 I may charge more than the price of the fine weapon. A lot of heart and sole into some builds.
