Before inserting the wedge install the hinges. This will keep the box top and bottom perfectly aligned. Then remove the hinge, insert the wedge, and continue the fourth cut. Advice from my High School Woodshop Teacher
Nice gun box - good job! You have some black nothing at the end starting at about 19:41. You can actually trim that off right in TH-cam Editing. Relaxing to watch you work.... or is it the nice soothing voice over?
Great woodwork. Flock isn't very durable and quickly turns into a nasty powder on everything. Actual felt over laths or thin foam is a lot more durable and provides better padding.
Just trying to stay compliant to NJ law where firearms need to be locked in transport. If someone stole the case/gun, they would just first cut the lock before messing with the hinge.
I hate flock, it wears off so fast and gets in everything, not something I want on a multi-thousand dollar shotgun. Felt is a pain in the ass, sure, but after all that work to make such a beautiful box that seems like a shame
This was a perfect video as I am doing a box for my 20 gauge double as of today. Thanks for the great tips and advice!
Hope it comes out well
Nice build. Thanks for sharing
Very nice! Surely, I can appreciate this project. I also like the handle on the awl. Keep up the good work.
Superb workmanship......magnificent case. Wish I could do work like that.
Wow. Thanks for watching and the kind words .

Very nice project, well done. I see construction of the box was using 3/4 walnut can you tell me what the total weight of the box ?Thanks
Thanks for the question. The wood is 1/2” thick and the box weighs 10 pounds.
Great woodwork.

Just curious as to why you would put locking hasps on the front but leave the screws Exposed on the piano hinge?

Looks like a 725 Trap with a 32” barrel.
Yep👍
Do you have a source for the locking hasp?
Amazon
Ha I thought how’s he going to get his gun in there? Then duh I realised you were cutting the top off. 😂
Thanks for tuning in and watching the entire video!
Locks are useless if the hinge-screws are exposed.
Just there to comply with NJ laws. A criminal would cut the locks off before taking the hinge off.
Parabéns ao idealizado fixou top de mais. Lindo case
Dimensions?
Thanks for the question. 5 x 9 1/2 x 36”
