To be honest, that scramble was very lucky with tons of block building and pseudo slotting WHILE getting EO and DR, HTR.

I wish each of your videos went more in depth on their topics, like a Summoning Salt video. It would have been nice to see more of the solution and the supposed explanation behind it. It also leaves other questions unanswered like why we aren't suspicious of Sebastian Tronto's 16 move optimal solution.
Sebastiano is one of the best FMCers in the world (he *literally* wrote the book on how to get good at FMC), and his solution was consistent with the methods he and other high level FMCers use. It was also easily explainable to anyone who understands advanced FMC techniques. Uladislau was unable to explain his solution in a logical way, seemingly doesn't know/use any of the techniques that would be required to find it, and has no other notable FMC results
100%. Right now I’m just waiting for a school break in college and just going through and overviewing the topics. I hope in the future to do more in depth videos and make them longer!
To be fair, cube explorer would be able to produce any solution of length 19, and based on how the cube works there isn't going to be a large number of solutions of length 19.

This is very interesting, and I feel it wouldn't be hard for him to get the scramble beforehand, and memorizing it would not be hard.
At the same time does it really matter at this point? The record is down to 16 and there are tons of people with 19s.
@@MatthewMayernik Ushakov is still ranked 7th in the world, and will always be considered a former world record holder so long as his 19 stands. I think it definitely matters
I mean, think about it. Cube explorer uses the same methods to find a short solution to the cube that top fmc solvers do. There has to be at least some of top 10 solves for fmc which cube explorer has the same exact solution for.
Yeah which is a sign he possibly didn’t cheat.

It's the name on his WCA page. I'm pretty sure it has been romanised incorrectly from Cyrillic.

I do think it matters that he cheated because it sets a bad precedent. Even if there is not absolute 100% concrete proof that he cheated, the result should not be counted. Cubers have had their results disqualified in the past based on other factors (blindfolded solvers who have achieved an official time WAY faster than their normal time have been found guilty of cheating based on the sheer improbability of it).
Also, I don't know if Ushakov's video of him 'explaining' the solution is still on TH-cam, but I remember watching it with Russian subtitles and his explanation made absolutely no sense and the solve had no logical flow. It was just him pointing at random pieces and saying 'block block block' over and over. The fact that it's not on the internet anymore may as well be an admission of guilt to me.

His explanation video literally had him saying things like "i made this block here, then this block here" then he breaks the blocks later in the solve and those blocks served no purpose at all lol

His name is supposed to be spelled like this: Владислав. There are multiple different ways to romanise it, and a few years ago he switched to Uladzislau

This seemed like an intro to a more in depth video. Anyway I don't know anything about this story but if he was able to show his thought process of how he came up with the solution I would assume it's legit.
He was able to make it sound legit enough to get it confirmed by the WCA. So I would assume he was able to show his thought process enough convincingly.
@@MatthewMayernik I haven't heard of a single advanced FMCer who was convinced by that explanation. Literally every person I've spoken to seems convinced that it was cheated, probably colluded with a delegate to get the scramble before the comp.

When will it hit god tier?
I need to see a half an hour video of him explaining that solution. If he makes any sense to top fmc solvers then it should be good. But if he refuses to explain it then that's proof he cheated in my opinion. Back then he probably made up some dumb stuff and the WCA was like he's the world record holder, he's more advanced than everyone, we'll give him the benefit of doubt. But nowadays more people are getting more advanced so it's easier to prove/disprove that the solution is findable if he explains it today

@@MatthewMayernik You think cheating is fine as long as people can beat you? (at a later date). It certainly would matter to me if I had the record at the time, or even if I got second place at that comp, I later find out the guy who beat me did it dishonestly, and robbed me of my achievement.

2:20 I feel like this matters for the FMC community as a whole, lets say someone wants to pick up FMC but then figures out that the WR is literally perfect. Is this guy still going to be motivated to practiice FMC anymore if it'll be practically impossible to break the WR? Although as cubers we're used to there being crazy world records I still feel that it kinda sucks for the community, especially because FMC is still a relatively small event.
But the whole point is that now it’s 16 moves and no longer 19. So does it really even matter now that the world record is better and confirmed legit?

Interesting story, I wasn't cubing back in 2016 and didn't know about this. It likely mattered to the one who was holding the WR before that. I usually give everyone the benefit of the doubt but tbh this is very suss in all aspects.
I’m pretty sure he just tied the record and it was already 19.

I wasn't around cubing back then, but if cubing has taught me one thing, its to give the benefit of the doubt. So, I would say he didn't cheat, as the Wca couldn't find anything against him.

I think it's better to give more background when making this luring video. Otherwise without any further information I can also say: It's not strange to "improve" a lot for an FMC event, the delegate can request the competitor to "explain" his solutions, human using DR may give a computer gen result since Kociemba computer algo uses DR too, etc etc. I don't know him and don't have the intent to "defend" him. Just that from the video I feel you could've given more information, and it's a bit pity that this video is kind of superficial due to your nature of making shorter videos
That’s fair take. I’ll keep that in mind when choosing my next topic if I’m able to present all the info well in a short video.
