Jamie quickly realizes that this is a set up, but not soon enough before he and his partner are shot, fatally for Officer Cruz. Commissioner Reagan speaks to the press about the tragedy.

Me too…..not many decent shows at all anymore……
As a retired LEO…I had occasion to rush two partners who were injured to the hospital.
One when a cinder block came thru our windshield….( the steering wheel absorbed my side ) and the windshield exploded in his face,
the other when he broke his hand while we were fighting with a guy who had just broken into the home of an elderly widow.
There are many, many more serious injuries that other officers had to deal with during the course of their careers.
God bless and watch over our men and women in blue.

She was only 23 and she had a 3 year old daughter......This business is a tough one

Jamie DOES get shot. It's just that his Kevlar vest took the bullets. Vinny also had a vest, but it didn't do anything because he got hit in the neck.
I cried through this scene. I come from a strong LEO family...
I am so saddened that Blue Bloods are going off the air..... This show was great family entertainment!

Danny's Military experience, you could argue, is more useful where he is, and Jamie seems like the obvious choice for Frank's successor. (Plus, nepotism/conflict of interest would become a real concern if he was pumping up all of his kids.
The scene where Danny "educates" the gang's leader, is a good one as well.

Nice title and totally inaccurate. Jamie didn't get shot, just his partner. The only time Jamie's been shot he was protecting Danny and Joe (nephew, not brother) and took one below the vest.
He did get shot. It hit his vest I believe
