Do you think I got a good car? 1985 Pontiac Trans Am

So I got a call about a broken car that had to be sold or it was going to the junkyard. I couldn't let that happen so I bought another project car. A 1985 Pontiac Trans Am. This car is in good condition for a 39 year old car but definitely needs some work. The car had been sitting for a year because it wouldn't start and they had tried to replace the starter but the car had no power to the ignition. So will it run and drive or did I buy a car with too many problems? In this video, I diagnose several problems that need to be repaired and why it would not start. So this is most likely part 1 of getting this car back to a road worthy car and keeping it from the junkyard.

I've had a bunch of F bodies over the years I currently have 3 3rd gens and a 79 firebird I really like the body style of the camaro and firebird 3rd gens.

@@rippingburnouts yeah I also have a 86 IROC and a 92 RS. In the past I had a 86 IROC and a 84 Z28 that was a great car. I got tons of parts.

Rumor has it all these issues would have not happened until the radio head units started to be replaced in the early 90's with CD players and the wire cutting and spliced by who knows who began over the years. As far as the interior, I would keep it red if possible and find a donor car. I believe that color combination is unique to the Trans Am model only. Good luck going forward 👍😎

I wouldn’t pull the interior out of that other firebird I think the red seats are kinda cool if you could find more or get reupholstered.

Sweet, where at in Iowa? I'm in southeast IA burlington area. I'm just getting back into my third gen obsession and back to building my 84 ls swap after losing motivation for a couple years but a big jump-start to my motivation was scoring a pretty nice deal on an 88 TA I hauled home from Wisconsin a couple weeks ago. It was from california and at the price and how clean the chassis was, as a rust belt dweller I knew I had to grab it. Glad to see another one somewhat local being saved that definitely isn't ready to be yanked apart in a junkyard for parts

I'm here in Dubuque IA. I didn't need another project but when I found out the junkyard was coming for the car I felt it had to much potential to let it get scraped. I hope to get it back on the road soon it definitely needs some work but after going though the car it shouldn't take to much to make a good driving car out of it. Yeah I have an 85 trans am myself so rock auto has been very useful for oe parts, they have a bit of everything
