Not only was this video helpful, but that is my local track down the street haha. I’m about to try this feature out on the exact same track as in this video.
Good day @Garmin Excellent feature, how about making it part of your Workout feature where one is then able to select Track-run as an option. For example, creating the ability to set a workout for race day, Warm-up, 5000m track run then with the ability to set pace target per 400m, Cool-down? Or other track training options like warm-up 10 x 400m, cool down? I know one is able to select the examples I give in a normal work-out, but I am not sure the accuracy is comparable to that of the track run setting.
well needed! Running at the track is common for endurance runners (who typically have running watches and log distance by GPS). And GPS is terrible on the neat to measure distance accurately within tiny areas
Unfortunately, it seems it does not work with tracks that are different from 400m. Why don't doing same functions like Coros Vertix 2 That is working with different track length ? It can be easy to know by the watch with GPS data the track length after some laps.
I’m doing a 24hr track race will be using different lanes over taking and changing direction every 4hrs would this track feature be no good for that am I just best logging gps and recording each mile ??
I have a question that is raised from many of us that are running in a non 400 meter track. how is it possible to accurate measure the distance without having issues with the accuracy. I do run on this non 400meter track and really my Garmin Fenix 7 Pro and the Garmin Instinct 2X are not getting the right measurements. On the other hand i have the Polar which measure exactly the distance based on the GPS, and i can tell is the most accurate comparing to the Gamrin ones. After the run i do to the map on Garmin Connect and it looks like it shows my possition away off, outside from the track like im running completely outside from the Stadium.
Hi, if I'm doing a Workout pushed through from Training Peaks, can I still used the Track Run mode? Will the workout appear if I press & selectTrack Run?
The track run feature is fundamentally broken in the Forerunner 955 Series since Software Version 14.15. Currently on 10.20 it is still barely usable. Skipping recovery intervals and tracking speeds of > 1000km/h. Garmin. Please fix this!
Thank you for your question. Yes, the Track Run will default to auto lap at 1600 meters. You can change the auto lap distance for track run for individual laps around the track, or disable auto lap and use the Lap button. To change the auto lap setting: Press START. Select Track Run. Press and hold UP/MENU. Select Track Run Settings. Select Auto Lap. Select Auto Distance. Set preferred distance. The auto lap distance can be changed in increments of 100 meters, with a minimum of 200 meters and a maximum of 10,000 meters. I have provided a link below for additional information and/or tips on the Track Run feature. I hope this helps. support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=eH8V1VwjN338uo8C5PgDJ7#:~:text=Track%20Run%20will%20default%20to,Press%20START.
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, all of the calibration and development for this feature was done for 400 meter tracks, so it will not work well for anything smaller - even if it is a standard shape.
High, I have the Garmin 255 Music. Could you tell me please the difference between the "auto lap" function and the "lap button" function? Thanks in advance
Thank you for your question. Auto Lap marks a lap at a specific distance automatically. This feature is helpful for comparing your performance over different parts of an activity (for example, every 1 mile or 5 kilometers). Each time you complete a lap, a message appears that displays the time for that lap. The Lap Key allows you to manually record a lap or rest during an activity.
Where I live, in the park there is a 1 km long running circuit, which is not multi-lane and not circular or elliptical. So it is not a regular running track. In this case, is it still a good idea to choose this activity, or would you prefer a traditional run?
Hi Elmar Flat, Track Run is not designed to track activities on tracks with a non-standard shape. Track Run expects a track with two parallel straightaways and two semi-circular turns of a single radius value. For more information visit support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=eH8V1VwjN338uo8C5PgDJ7.
Thank you for your question. Yes, the Forerunner 245 is compatible with the Track Run profile. Below is a link where you can see all the compatible watches for this feature. I hope this helps. Track Run Compatible Watch link - support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=eH8V1VwjN338uo8C5PgDJ7
Is there anyway I can use it on FR 235? Or is there any app that I can download on the Garmin store ? Because I started to run on track, and has a 50 meters error margin each kilometer :/
Thank you for your questions. The Track Run feature is not available for the Forerunner 235. However, there are a couple of track running apps in the Connect IQ store that are compatible with the Forerunner 235.
Sorry to hear that you are not getting the lane option on your Forerunner 245 Music. Just to ensure we are on the same page, the instructions for selecting a lane are below. If you have followed these instructions and still not getting the lane change option, please reach out to our Product Support team at 800-800-1020 or support.garmin.com. They will be happy to assist and troubleshoot. I hope this helps. Going for a Track Run: 1. Stand on the outdoor track (standard-shape, 400m). 2. Select START > Track Run. 3. Wait while the device locates satellites. 4. If you are running in lane 1, skip to step 10. 5. Hold UP. 6. Select Track Run Settings. 7. Select Lane Number. 8. Select a lane number. 9. Select BACK twice to return to the timer page. 10. Select START 11. Run around the track. After you run a couple of laps, your device records the track dimensions and calibrates your track distance. 12. After you compete your run, select STOP > Save.
Did it really take Garmin 30 years to understand people ran round a 400m track..... I guess we will now need to wait another 30 years for them to understand that when running we need easy to press button for start/stop and Lap. Companies like Nike and Asics worked this out in the 1990s. I have for decades thought wouldn't it be nice if Garmin actually spoke to athletes - I guess they finally did.

exaclty!
Hello, is there any possibilities to measure 60m or 80m dash? It is possible for 50m and 100m but that's it.
Can you review for 100 m? Is it good for indoors?
Helpful and concise. Thanks.

Would this feature work on 300 meter track? There was an option in Track Run settings to change from default of 400M to any other number.
Hi, if I'm doing a Workout pushed through from Training Peaks, can I still used the Track Run mode? Will the workout appear if I press & selectTrack Run?
Would it be possible to add support for a standard shape, but custom length lap?
Very good info ! Thank you !
Hi please how to do if we start the activity from our house to the stadium ?
Thank you very helpful indeed.
What if I'm running on a track that is less than 400 meters?

What if my track is tiny only 250 meters?
The default is 1600 meters. Is it in order to teach the whatch, then you need to switch to 400 so that circles are counted?

Love the feature but all the tracks in my area are only 333 meters. Will it still work as long as the track has the standard shape?
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, all of the calibration and development for this feature was done for 400 meter tracks, so it will not work well for anything smaller - even if it is a standard shape.
