  • If you have a Garmin device that provides a VO2 max estimate, you can track your overall cardiovascular fitness directly from the device and from the Garmin Connect app. The following information will provide top answers to questions about VO2 max and the VO2 max estimate feature found on many different Garmin devices.
    What Is VO2 Max?
    VO2 max is the maximum volume of oxygen (in milliliters) you can consume per minute per kilogram of body weight at your maximum performance. VO2 max is an indication of aerobic fitness and should increase as your level of fitness improves. For more product information visit: support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq...

    Only run or walk because I road bike for more the year and my Vo2 is only 35. I lose more the 40 pounds when I start my exercises and diet. my weight was 240. Right now it is 180 pounds. I did not see any change in my Vo2

    the mathematical fast way to increase V02MAX is to lose weight. Increasing volume and interval training work a lot less, but can be risky depending on each person's health profile.

    What is the logic behind not providing vo2 max for activities beyond running/walking/cycling? Any plans to bring vo2 measurement to other activities?

    I am an active cyclist and use a Garmin 6X to track my activities. I do not have a power meter. On Garmin Connect it displays no data available for VO2 max. Why is that? How do I get my VO2 Max information to record?

    • @GarminRetailTraining
      @GarminRetailTraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your question. To get your VO2 Max estimate for cycling requires a power meter as well as heart rate (either wrist based or chest heart rate monitor)..........www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/fenix66s6xpro/EN-US/GUID-E17003DB-1F26-483E-A8B4-BBF04B4E3A9B.html

      Because cycling is more of an VO2 max increaser than jogging is. Lets see you average 1-2 hours for every cycling activity duration and only 30-40 min duration for every jogging activity. Its just about the duration of the activity, not the intensity. Keep the intensity low with aerobic activities and it should be rising.

    does it work on the treadmill? I run 5 days a week with different speed only get 40 on VO2MAX.

    • @GarminRetailTraining
      @GarminRetailTraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you for your question. VO2 Max is calculated using activity profiles that are recorded outdoors with a GPS signal such as Running, Ultra Running, Cycling, and Walking.

    VO2 Max from any watch or calculation is not good data. It has to be measured directly. Besides that, it's a useless number. Say your VO2 max is 62. Great. Good for you. What do you get for that? Nothing. Now someone will say it will help you see if your training is working. Bullshit. You know what shows you that? That hill you rode up last month in 16 minutes, you did today in 14 minutes!!!! That's what shows you if your training is working.
