When I was growing up in early 70’s I knew a lot of old hippies who came back from Vietnam some not so well and here we are almost 50 years later now I’m an old hippie✌🏽😮💨
You know my Dad introduced me to this song. I thought it was cool. But now that I think about it he liked the old rockers , living his way, and listening to the tunes. I guess Buck was an old Hippie too and not a day since 2003 goes by I don’t miss him!

This song came out in 1985 but it seems like it was just yesterday. So when he sang "He turned 35 last Sunday", it threw me for a loop. I had to do the math to make sure: (Born in 1950 to '85=35) Yea, 35 y.o. My gosh, people who were 35 when this came out are now 74, 75 y.o. I was 17 when this came out (but I've always identified more with 60s and 70s music), now I'm 56 and 35 is nowhere near old to me. Time sure does fly.

I saw them in the early 80’s in a small bar when I was in my early 20’s. I’m going to see them in a few weeks at a very small venue. Will probably be surreal. I’ve always thought a lot about seeing them and my early love for country music.

The line in the song...."this world may change around him but he just can't change no more " strikes such a strong chord with me. I'm only 45 yrs old and never knew the Vietnam Era. I feel like a hippie in today's world. The daily changes in political correctness, technology and everything else makes my head spin. It's exhausting to keep up. I'm tired of walking on egg shells in today's America. I've chosen to just be outdated, uncool and too simple. It's less stress in my life. Thank you guys for making music that hits home to millions of people just like myself!

In 2018, I am 66. This song applied to all of us vets. Makes me happy and real sad, where did the years go? At 45 rear ended by a school bus freeway speed herniating 10 discs. Diagnosed with MS 2011. Damn it was great to be young even being trained to be a killer in the Army. Travel in greens and get spit on and called baby killer. Now its changed and wearing my Vietnam hat people thank me for my service. Lost many friends on the wall! I cried like a baby looking at the wall! Not long left now.

The Bellamy Brother’s - the BEST country band ever! I loved them when they first became famous in 1976 and I love them even more now. I have seen them in concert twice, but this live version of Old Hippie is the greatest I have ever heard! I love every song they sing!! Their voices are still fabulous! Hope I get to see them again.
