Never was a hippie. Never had much use for 'em. But by damn, I sure can relate to an awful lot of these three songs. Hang in there, brothers and sisters. There'll never be another generation like ours. (2nd Btn., 5th Marines, RVN, 1970-71)
I did 2 tours in Nam. Later worked in radio when DJs were live. I must admit, Bellamy Brothers brought tears to this old grunts eyes. I played hell out of their music. Thanks guys. Enjoy these years. So many won't
@ Disregardme.... SEMPER FI my BROTHER from a DESTROYMAN with 3 COMBAT TOURS in the 'NAM, WE made it back to "WORLD", AGREED... Most will be leaving us... but WE will KEEP the FAITH !Yup, Back in the Day !
Born in 67 served in desert storm I give my utmost respect to all vet's especially Vietnam veterans for the hell they went through over there and when they came home
Born in 62 my father fought in Korea and he would not let me join I know I could have but not with his blessing he told me war turns you into a shell of a human being
All through the 60's I was following the Vietnam War. I was counting the years until I would have to serve. My Dad served WW2 and I just thought that was what young men did. My age came up near the end and I ended up in Southeast Asia OUTSIDE of Vietnam . At about the same time our POWS were being returned. My cousins who were 2 to 3 years older, were PRIME Vietnam drafted soldiers. They were in the thick of it. I respected everyone who served. I remember we had men going to Canada and I heard reports of young men shooting toes off just to avoid Vietnam... Those were the days...Thanks to the guys who were on the ground for the rest of us..
Sent to me from Dear Friend from Back of Beyond. Experiencing much of this now, at 64. Bless the Veterans for their sacrifices. As an RN I have seen their scars, the worst are the ones that don't show.
Many thanks to all the veterans but to the Vietnam veterans, you all have a special place in heaven because of the hell you went thru there, on your return home and in your minds years after. Much respect and god bless you one and all
I ask my uncle Joe if he ever wanted to go back to Vietnam to get closure… I even volunteered to accompany him. His response…. ‘ not as long as that country keeps waving the communist flag’!
My senior trip started in 1965 in the Ia-Drang 7:28 valley in Vietnam, and My life has basically followed these three versions of this song. Two tours in hell and then living the rest of my life for my friends who never made it home. I love them my brothers.
With every day that passes he becomes more like his dad....aint that the truth...just turned 61 n im becoming the person that i thought was a SOB because of his ways lol
"play, it again Sam", this is a good night to hear Bellamy and brothers. These nights that get real dark draw out the demons from that black forest and listening more to the Nam tunes and singers do help one to gain more altitude, to idle back, in giving memory to the souls that stayed there under the blue haze.
Been there. Done that. 4 years on a mountain in New Hampshire, man...after stuffing 2 lifetimes in 2 decades...a break was needed. It was getting my rattled life back together, meeting the love of my life from Thailand (who came from 1/2 way around the world & we met by chance) that brought life&love to me (my 10 year old son born when I was 38) & also helping my dad find balance, too (he'd been to her home country in the early 70's under not-so-great circumstances). God has blessed my dad (now the good baptist deacon) & myself (the jack-of-all-trades rebel) more than we deserve. Dad's the "old hippie" & I was the "wild rebel" he fathered; but it took The Grace of Jesus & wisdom of Buddha through a woman from the other side of the globe to help to find the "full-circle"😁 My family loves my wife. My wife & son are my life. Full Circle, man. If you wanna find closure...that's how I did it...but everybody's path is different. Peace ✌
So very impressive I admire this. Amazing is an understatement. I wish we had more songs like this... Listening to the lyrics touched my heart.. Thank you
THANK YOU MY FRIEND GOD BLESS THEM FOREVER AND EVER AND ALL YOU GOOD MEN AND WOMEN ALLOVER THIS WORLD FIGHTING KEEP YOU FAITH IN GOD FROM AN OLD HIPPIE CAN'T FORGET THEM AND NEVER WILL OLD HIPPIE WITH TROUBLES READY TO BE ENDED

I got to sing the first part of this with Howard and David in Daytona Beach on my 19th birthday. Kinda awesome thing my birthday is December 8th. Anniversary of John Lennon was murdered.
NOT a damn thing, wasn't supposed to. Take the same damn hill day after day. SMH Thank you to everyone on here who served in any of the wars or police actions and whatever the hell they are doing now in the sand.
We'll probably never know for sure, but if not for our fight in Nam we could be Communists now and speaking Oriental of some kind.. I'm proud of my four years given and would do it again tomorrow if they'd take an old man, give him an AR15 and muzzle Congress and let us kill our enemies forthwith.
Even though we bailed out in Nam, the North lost a lot and because of what we did there may have just scared them enough to keep them for an attack on our Homeland. ?????????
Lone wolf These songs are my Dad to a T he did 2 tours in Vietnam.. Im 37 an thank god ever day My father taught me to be a man...Rip Carter Ray Whittle..
Lone Wolf Exactly right! Besides, you guys did great considering you were sent in small numbers at a time into someone else's civil war. Had they sent you all at once, you could have all came home I think. I'm grateful that you are home now, and you ALL showed courage and strength. Respect and gratitude.🇺🇸
Well, fix your "shitty" computer then... works fine on mine and three other people that I check it on... So pull your smart ass mouth out of your ass and don't come back.

Lone Wolf AMEN to that
The sequels feel far too forced.
At seventy one and acVirtnam vet can assure you that parts of all three videos apply to my life
I understand, but that's not my point sir.
Thank you for your service all the same though
I'm simply implying that the "sequels" didn't seem as organic as the first.
What in the hell would good for nothing hippies have to do with this?
