This scene like your other similar ones is so visually interesting with the techniques you use.The limited palette creates a cold winter atmosphere. It feels visually like another snowfall could start any minute.
Super job, Rick, as always. We have very little snow now here in Michigan and I’m thinking you don’t have a lot either. However, you’ve been producing a lot of paintings lately. You must have been out taking photos when the snow first fell. Thanks for all your comments as you teach-it brings back the fall workshop!
Thanks Sue ! You're right, the snow cover we had for a few weeks is pretty much gone. I did manage to get out and take some pictures. I've been in the mood to paint winter, but it's not feeling too much like winter at the moment. I hope you're getting some painting done also, and hope you have a great Holiday Season !!!
I enjoyed this a great deal. I got a lot out of your comments about tone and value. I appreciated seeing your brush techniques, too. I’m going to give it a try. Thanks for another informative video, Rick!
Great video! I love how you have explained how to turn a complex subject into a beautiful painting. I’m anxious to try your techniques with some of my snow photos.
Thank you,Rick. I’m going to give it a try in the new year. And the Bridge winter scene too. I always enjoy watching your videos. Executing them on the other hand just takes courage on my part. 🤪
I love the choice of colours you used this time. Very cool wintry feel to it and very natural. I see that quill brush you use has an amazing point to it, and the fine liner bottle has a fine point too. Finer than my plastic point cut at an angle. - Important for all those criss-crossing twigs. I should try this as a paint- along exercise ( without feeling a fraud)
Thank you for commenting! I have all my supplies listed on the "Studio" page of my website. Click on the image labeled "Brushes". There you will see the brushes I use. If you click on the individual brush, you'll see where I purchase it. Here is the link to my studio page: rsurowiczart.com/studio/
Rick, this is so beautiful. This painting reminds me of the place I will always call "home" though I don't live anywhere near there now. Many of your paintings remind me of that place. This particular scene stirs up childhood memories of my brothers and I foraging for gigantic blackberries, the wild bushes supported by the fence row. We hoped that we'd find enough berries for a delicious homemade cobbler but there were times that few berries remained when we arrived home. It was a long walk, we had plenty of time to devour them on our way back! You did a wonderful job of showing the vastness of the field. Again, it's such a beautiful calm yet tangled scene, a mixture of both wild and contained growth. Thank you so much !!!
You are incredible! So pretty.
Love the colors and technique.

what is the tool for making lines? i did not understand from video. the result is amazing!
The light lines were created using a fine line masking fluid pen. The branches were painted with a "liner brush" size #1

Thank you Rick. Just love watching you paint. Is that masking bottle difficult to keep clean ?
It can be difficult at times. You have to make sure it's capped when you're not using it.
@@RickSurowiczWatercolor thank you
Thank you for reminding me to keep It loose and think off shapes rather than detail, if you know what I mean. Awesome demonstration!
Thank you Jonas !
👍👏🤗
Really Awesome Beautiful...Love the winter scenes as you can see from my channel...
