    I’ve tried this before on my corolla Ae111 and thats a hot air intake ( open pod ), its fun to drive when your engine is still in normal temp or in the morning but by the time your engine is hot and the weather is too hot you’re losing power caused of the hot air intake. Drop in way better for daily driving, if you dont like the design thn you should go for cold air intake simillar to open pod but the filter need a box that sucks cold air front the snorkel under the bumper..

    Id like to do the same thing with my Fit. Would be nice if you added all the measurements for the pipes and breather 😁 nice video!

    good job for a budget idea. other than heat you could probably get away with mounting the filter directly without any pipes or get a small straight section.

      Yeah keen to take it out for a good drive, but will first need to change up the suspension a little.
      Then who knows, nugget nationals? 😅🤷‍♂️

    The old hot air intake mod.
    Down 5 horsepower at the wheels, up 20 horsepower at the ears.

    Sucking in warm under bonnet air most often result in lower performance, isn't the original ducted to take in outside air?

    Hey just wondering, there is an electrical plug that goes into the stock air box on the top side, if i’m using the open filter, where do the plug goes?

    • @zpggarage
      @zpggarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it’s the IAT plug I’m thinking of, I just drilled a small enough hole on one of the pipes to put the IAT sensor plug into the new system.
      I also used the rubber O ring from the stock air box to the new custom system to secure it too
      (I placed mine on the rubber silicon near the throttle body)

    • @zpggarage

    What rubber grommet did you use for the air intake temp sensor? And what size hole saw did you use?

    • @zpggarage
      @zpggarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used the oem rubber grommet from the stock intake box 😅
      I forgot what size drill bit I used, but you could probably drill using a small drill bit and work your way up slowly til it just fits the rubber

    Where did you get that strut bar?

  • @Ottobon
    @Ottobon ปีที่แล้ว

    Not cheaper but just yesterday i found out UnequalFabrication makes a cowl induction, i don't believe t come with any tubing or pipes so you would likely have to fabricate whole part from TB to said cowl induction, ideally include filter somewhere in the equation, but holy heck is it cool.
    Currently working with 80$ Ebay kit, not installed, will require fab, it has way way too much tubing can't even fit in the car but that was part of why i bought it, just need to confirm emissions and temp sensor fit correctly.
    Any engine codes with this intake? Thats the big thing im trying to avoid since milage still matters to me.

    Im planning to do the same thing but i got some friends telling me its not good for engine and its going to cause problems.
    So now i want to ask from anyone here how is that possible.
    And if it does give problems how can i prevent them.

    • @supermcbrian
      @supermcbrian 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tbh not really. It'll just sound louder. It won't really help in any way or hurt in any way lol. Some newer jazz/fits have more optimized air boxes and you might slightly hurt the fuel economy by adding a ram air filter setup. But it won't damage the car unless your missing vacuum lines or sensors

  • @vincesorilla3353

    does the engine light come on with the sensor not plugged in? Im thinking of doing this exact custom intake :)

    • @zpggarage
      @zpggarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah pretty sure without the sensor plugged in it’ll show the engine light.
      I think I forgot to show it, but I actually have the sensor plugged in.
      I just drilled a hole big enough to plug the sensor in, I drilled it at the back of the silicon hose just before the metal pipe 🙂👍

    • @vincesorilla3353
      @vincesorilla3353 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ohhh okay thank you!! Sorry one more thing what were the diameters of your pipes?

    • @zpggarage
      @zpggarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@vincesorilla3353 it’s been a while, but I think the silicon hose was 2.5 to 3inch. And the metal piping was 3 inch I think 😅
