- We arrive on the Isle Of Wight via the Lymington to Yarmouth ferry. We have a few hours before we can get into our campsite at Southland, so we explore Fort Victoria, Yarmouth, Yarmouth Pier and Yarmouth Castle.

Hi Bob Jenny and Poppy, enjoyed the ferry trip over to the IOW. The fort looked very interesting. The pier went quite a way out to sea and the harbour was a nice walk with all the yachts. The castle was good, Loved the forkandles joke😊interesting seeing the pottery and coins from shipwrecks , enjoyed the video x Julie and Tony x

The model village is very Good you can walk around it along a path with the model houses around you
I enjoyed Poppy’s castle tour very much. My dog would have made for the kitchen also! I’ll look forward to learning about the Isle of Wight. I think I went over from Portsmouth on the hovercraft as a child! X

The Motorhome was £141.62 return booked via the Caravan & Motorhome Club in October 2022. The car was treated as a trailer and cost £108.60 return.

Another first class video Bob ! I worked for a company that had a sailing club and often did trips to the IOW. One of the 'captains' was a chap namely Tim Waddington who I worked with closely during the 70s and 80s and when you first showed the named supporters planks on the Yarmouth pier I saw Tims name. Tim died several years ago but it did bring back some wonderful memories for me.

Definitely would love to spend more time in Yarmouth when we next go to the island we ran out of time to go last time as we spent more time over on the other side of the island near where we stayed in Bembridge it looks a really interesting place and what a rich history it has

I used to get over to the IoW quite often when I was in the Navy. It was the only time I ever remember being a bit sea sick...going on the hovercraft! Now the IoW always reminds me of uncle Albert in Only Fools & Horses...when he was in court and the prosecutor was saying " it says here Mr trotter that you served overseas...that's right says Albert......but says the prosecutor it says you were serving in a storage depot on the IoW....I hardly call that overseas to which Albert reply's " you want to try walking it pal"🤣

Know we sailed into there but might have driven straight on as apart from the ferry don’t remember anything of the nice castle or pier ( could just be the age though 🤣)

Yes, we did go to Godshill, but somehow couldn't find it.
I went to the Isl of White and saw the vintage steam show with traction engines

Another great video. I have just left the IOW after a few nights at the site in Adgestone. Sensible decision taking the car, almost every other road has width restrictions! Enjoy your stay.

Great to see you on the IOW, we’ve had two fantastic holidays on there this year and absolutely love it. We love Yarmouth, really cute little place with lots of history. We parked in the harbour car park next to the ferry terminal, it’s cheaper and closer. Don’t think many people know it’s there
The ferry set off quick. 😂i think the needles is where the cable car takes you down to it. Castle is still in good condition, glad Poppy could go in.

Be careful in Yarmouth. ...Tied yacht up and had it moved as a joke with harbour Taxi saying we needed to tell him where our yacht was as he was not doing harbour tours to find it at closing time 😂
They should try that with the ferry!

Like Jenny I’m not keen on ferries. How long does the journey take ? Can you stay in the van or do you have to leave the car deck ?
You have to go up to the deck.
