Every destination that you have visited, Kirsten and Joerg, you have showcased and presented in such a stunning way, and the Isle of Wight is no exception. Who would not want to visit after this?! The details of history, your knowledgeable narration and the incredible scenery make for yet another beautiful Vlog.

I think Prince Albert was brilliant! He was teaching his children how average people had to work, grow their own food and make their own way in life. This gave the children compassion for others, hopefully. It also gave them comprehension of how you could work hard, but the garden could fail. Or how hard it was to stand on your feet, ache from pulling weeds, wait to see if you made any progress, etc. Also, if the world changed, Wars broke out or fortunes were lost...Prince Albert had shown his nine children, how to live as a commoner, given them practical skills....and spent hours with them...instead of just letting hired staff bond with them. SMART, LOVING FATHER!

As a native of the island ( known as caulkheads ) its really interesting to see other people’s perspective of my home , it’s a shame you didn’t have the time to see the back of the island, with the military road from freshwater all the way to blackgang , this is a beautiful coastal road with many Chine’s ( local word describing a gorge) dotted along the coastline, I think when you live in an area that is so beautiful you really don’t appreciate it enough, I hope you had good time , looked like you did. Little fact, the Roman name for the island was Vectis.👍👍👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

That was a wonderful day out! You must return to the I.O.W again and stay over. There is so much more to see especially Bonchurch, Ventnor, Carisbrooke Castle, Godshill etc. Did you know the six wonders of the Isle of Wight? They are: The Cowes you cannot milk, The Freshwater you cannot drink, The Newport that will not be bottled, The Needles you cannot thread, The Brook that will not wet your feet and Ryde where you walk! There are some fabulous little hotels & B&B’s on the Isle of Wight - its always seemed like “Britain in the 50’s” to me. I went there many times as a child - loved the jurassic Coast and dinosaur bones and history - as well as Osbourne House. You really need at least 1 or 2 nights there to see lots of the smaller places - they have some fabulous ‘hidden’ tea shops you would both love ❤️.

I adore how Prince Albert enriched the lives of his children with experiences that were much more important than wealth. I imagine those same lessons were passed along by a least a few (if not all) of his children to his grandchildren, great-grandchildren…etc.

I would have ADORED having a whole play cottage with dishes and a garden and everything!

Awe, this was so special. Poor Prince Albert. I still can`t understand, why such a wonderful person had to die so early in life and in such an aweful way.
I loved the movie they showed on Netflix not long ago: Victoria and Albert. Wonderfully played.
Funny, but just this morning I read through the recipe "Victoria`s Sponge Cake", from my "Little English Book of Teas". 🙂
And here you guys are, eating sponge cake, lol.
    I love those coincidences.
Another one is, that I was born in Egypt, in Cairo, at the Anglo American Hospital in Gezira. 🙂
I think the colonial India style of the house reminded you of the colonial style they had/have in some of the egyptian hotels and mansions.
Prince Albert raised his children in a very pedagogical way. I also think it was brilliant. Could be almost like a Montessori or Rudolf Steiner way of thinking.
Love and huggs from Schurwald Forest, Kreis Göppingen, im schönen Schwabenländle,
    eure Christina. 🙂

Funny you mention bathing machines Kirsten! I'm halfway through reading Lucy Worsley's book entitled Jane Austen at Home and this morning i've just read the chapter about her holidaying in Ramsgate and the popularity of the bathing machines. I had not known about them before but apparently they used to wheel them down into the water so you could step straight into the water which is odd because not many could swim in those days! I remember 47 years ago taking the hovercraft over to the Isle of Wight when I was a child. Thank you for the memories!

Thanks for another great film, this time about one of my favourite places, the Isle of Wight.
I first saw Osborne House on a school journey way back in the 20th century and it made an indelible impression on me, especially the Swiss Cottage which for some reason exhibited a giant Centipede.
Prince Albert's thinking was obviously ahead of his time, his choice of an Italianate design for Osborne was a stroke of genius, bestowing England with a genuinely beautiful royal palace. I am pretty sure he had an input into the design of nearby Whippingham Church where he and the missus used to pray.
I am glad the weather was so kind.

Such a treat to see this. One of my dear friends lived in Sandown. She now lives here in the US, but I wish I had known her when she was on the Isle of Wight. Thank you so much!

This is a fabulous vlog! Your content is interesting, and the production and editing very good. I was chatting with my son, who was present whilst I was viewing, and I commented that when I go to the UK I will only need to rewatch your videos to make an itinerary of fabulous locations to visit. You choose lovely sights of interest, and I have complete confidence in your recommendations. Thank you for making these incredible vlogs.

Many thanks for this second video....such a delightful treat to see you on a Friday, as well!! These were a glorious pairing this week. Everything is so sweetly romantic, and, yes, I’m joining all those who wish to live in the cottage. How could you not? With continued gratitude for sharing special, stunningly filmed, wonderfully narrated, the sprites are dancing, journeys. 💖💖💖🤗 Love from Essex, Connecticut

Another lovely video, meine Liebe Freunde! I really noticed the drought in this video - the brown grass. So unusual for England, that’s normally so lush! But wow, I’d love to see this palace. How beautiful!

Thank you so much Sara! We did have a lot of rain after that but sadly it has gone back to very very hot and dry weather which the UK is simply not used too (temperatures like 33 degrees aren't normal around here). We hope it cools down.

Thank for you taking us to the Isle of Wight, especially since I don't think we'll ever make it. As an American, just too many other things on the bucket list. Loved hearing about Albert as a parent. Fascinating.

This was so interesting! Osborne House has so many wonderful spots and stories.. love Queen Victoria’s bath house.. and we particularly enjoyed the gardening story about their children with their plots.. and Prince Albert buying their produce! The Needles look magical.. thanks so much for sharing this wonderful day Kirsten and Joerg! 👏🏻☺️❤️

Your videos are just brilliant, it almost feels like you are talking to a friend !!! The research that you put into each and every video is exceptional and certainly better than any guide book !! I loved the Swiss Cottage and the dresser in the kitchen. I have a dresser in my kitchen so it always draws me to them and the displays of china. Prince Albert encouraging the children to grown produce to sell for pocket money is very forward thinking.
As you say an overnight stop on the island is beneficial.
This is certainly going on our to do list.
Thank you both again . Till the next time,

This is a gem. 💖 The Isle of Wight was one of our favourite visits while in the UK. We took the fast Ferry there and some UK friends met us and gave us a tour of the island and then took us to tour Queen Victoria's summer home it was so interesting but my most favourite part was when the tour guide said Prince Albert's picture was there beside her bed so that his face was the first and last thing she would see in her day. Quite the love story she was totally smitten by him. 💞You did such a lovely photo session of capturing the beauty there and also in with the Swiss Cottage's history and lessons. I agree it is worth an overnight or two to really enjoy it all. Thank you both again for your stunning pictures and video that brought back such treasured memories and for being the most wonderful tour guides. 🚶‍♂🚶‍♀💌

The Isle of Wight looks to be a wonderful destination for really unwinding and truly decompressing from city life. I can see why you recommend at least a couple of days there. Victoria and Albert chose well! I liked the stories about Albert and his children…it sounds like he was an exemplary father. Thanks for the beautiful views of your holiday, Kirsten and Joerg!
