Brought back great childhood memories of summer holidays on the Island in the fifties .Those engines were running on regular services at that time and most of the Island lines were still open. Then along came Beeching , who knew nothing about railways, and decimated the Island railway system. It`s great that the IOW steam railway has managed to preserve this line as a great tourist attraction to show off these lovely old steam engines and show how these rural lines were run.
Went there last year brilliant day out for me it brought back memories as we went on those trains From 1955 till 1962 on holiday as my grandfather and dad worked at Derby carriage and wagon works in those days we traveled for free 👍👍

My late father would have loved this. Very smart carriages even third class looked comfortable.
I imagine third class in the day was wooden seats.
We vistited at Easter 2022, a great day out, the bird of prey flying displays + centre were also good and free of charge with the railway admission.
