Felix, I just love how commited you are to your tennis journey and how transparent and honest you are in the cost it takes to compete at the level that you're competing at. Not only are your videos fun to watch but they will help and inspire a whole generation of young hopefull tennis players into what it takes to make it as a fulltime tennis professional. Cant wait to watch your progress in 2023 Felix👍
Yes let’s be honest. Players spent lot of money on tour but because they also go high in expenses. Depending on your budget, but If you choose to train in the top tennis academies (that are business, so it means they take your money very easy and that’s all but u don’t get anything), best centers, top hotels and the list can go on. @@thekittencult wages are low in the uk, tennis coaches here are lucky if they earn £30 an hour, I can get a lesson with a performance coach for 28 dollars an hour
It gets to the point where the coach isn't going to be teaching you as much as training you. You'll get the occasional correction but you're basically doing physical training and then you hit and hit and hit and hit some more. As good as a coach is and or was he can't work 8 hours a day and then train as much as you to spar and practice with you 1 on 1 so you'll be hitting with sparring partners and other players who are in the same boat as you. I'm guessing there's 2 to 4 other players like him in a lot of his training sessions so multiply the money by 3 or 4 or whatever amount of people are training with him at the time. When you're just starting out you can't really afford a coach's monthly salary to have him all to yourself every day. Obviously it depends on a lot of things, sometimes the coach will just take you out and work on something specific while the rest are in the gym or something. Where do you live by the way? @Icacer

This is awesome breakdown, LOVE IT. It would be SUPER interesting when you are pro in the top 1000 and can still put out these types of videos. Imagine if Federer was this transparent, would love to see how much Federer has made throughout the years down to the penny, his sponsorships, his routine, etc. Keep going!
Mate, as the parent of a tennis kid this is wonderful to see your journey! Thanks for putting a bit of reality into the tennis sphere ! All the very best for 2023
Don't you think if he was good he would ALREADY have his ATP point? He's just a rich guy - nice and good at tennis for a non-pro as much as you want - who's spending his parents money to have fun
Your bigger sponsor is TH-cam and all we viewers that are loving this channel! Thats insane! I was waiting a part that you tell us how much money youtube make.
Great camera-work by the way. As you're in recovery mode, how about a full run-down of your racket set-up? Like weight, balance, any-lead, strings, tensions, grip size & type. Does Dunlop match them for you to swing-weight? How often to you restring? I know you did a little review when you choose it, but how about a detailed look for us fans?
Felix after every video, you’re motivating to keep on pushing towards my dream of becoming a professional. You’re an inspiration to all and always will be. Love the content mate.
It's very interesting because it's rarely spoken about these financial issues as if it was a kind of taboo. That's reality. To become a pro tennis player, you also need to be a kind of accountant ; to be able to find sponsors, to plan your days, to make and hold a budget and so on. It requires more qualities than only being a good tennis player.
At this rate, you wont need ATP points and just live of the wealth of being a famous tennis player. Well done and I'm keen to follow your further successes
Hey Felix, been following you for a while. I would like to have your mindset because I really feel bad when I lose to somebody with old racket w/dead and running shoes while claming to never take a lesson in life. Keep up and I hope you get your ATP point(s)!
Don't feel bad. The #1 tennis player in Texas (16U) beats current ATP players at UTR tournament time to time and destroys kids in his age group who spend $3,000.00 per month on private lessons. He never had a tennis lesson. Plays tennis twice a day, roughly 2 hours each session. His dad, who does not play tennis, taught his son by looking at TH-cam video. Can you imagine how other kids (my son included) must feel? hahaha
Thanks Felix. This was a great video, and thankfully I was way off base regarding the costs. Coaches where I live are at least double the price for advanced level training. Super proud of you for your success so far and surely there is much more left on your road. Cheers! M
Genuinely surprised at how low the coaching costs have been. I would have thought the cost would have been quite a bit more. You have done really well; keep it up!

I really enjoy the content Felix produces and it is great to see what it takes to get just 1 ATP point. But it blows my mind what a difference it makes where you are coming from. Now imagine this journey of the perspective a Eastern European, African or Asian kid, tremendous difference. I mean only without the sponsors, this price will go up at least 25%. And it is not just the price, the quality of products available is ginormous. Also, there are so many tournaments in the UK, so he travels far less than most of young players. Let alone the quality of hitting partners. Having a hit with players like Popyrin and Draper can be so helpful for young players. Players from smaller countries with the same qualities as Felix will stand no chance of becoming a pro. Of course none of that is Felix’ problem, but I am just left wondering why the UK haven’t produced more top 20 players last 20 years. I hope Felix breaks that tendency and gets much more than 1 point in 2023!!!
