I watched an episode of his reality show in which his dad stopped by with his new girlfriend. The dad looked like a homeless person as did his 'girlfriend,' Aaron was overjoyed to see him and immediately rushed into his arms but the feeling wasn't reciprocated at all. Later his dad joked about how they called Nick their own personal ATM machine and I could see Nick pulling away physically and mentally. In that moment I felt so bad for him as obviously that's all he meant to his parents, a cash machine.
Most things are staged in reality shows!
@@andreaxleste yeah it can be staged. But the fact they could be so comfortable with that narrative means there is a precedent for similar past behaviour.
"Cash Cow" is what their parents called their 2 boys. Especially Aaron because the parents were managing his money. 😬 The parents set all their children up for failure and didn't take their mental health and drug use seriously.

His parents are the one’s who didn’t pay Aaron’s taxes, all the money he made when he was little. He became responsible when he turned 18 and discovered the mismanagement of his money. He was then forced to file bankruptcy. Very sad, horrible parents, was definitely used and abused by his father. Nick wrote a book stating his father ruled their home growing up using fear.

I personally think people like Robert Downey Jr & Macaulay Culkin are excellent examples of people who hit absolute rock bottom but took the years of self-development to work themselves out of the holes they fell into. It's not easy but it is possible. It just takes a long time.
Steven Tyler and Joe Perry too. Sadly I lost my son because he didn't get or week help. It devastates me as a mom to see another person my son's age, due if addiction. Because there's no closure for family. 😔
Drew Barrymore too. Another example. My heart breaks for Aaron. He was a precious little boy who had zero guidance and support. He turned into a out man looking for love, support and approval. I hope he is at peace now. This didn't have to happen. It was terrible watching him self destruct 💔😔.

@@mstea3232 I'm so sorry for your loss😢!!! I'm 33 and I've been clean 5.5 years now! My parents almost lost me a few times due to my addiction! I relapsed over and over and I really believed there was no way I would ever make it to 30 years old!!! Addiction is very tough on the addict and the addict's familiy members. I regret all the hell I put my poor family through! I hope I never go down that road again! I am sorry your son didn't make it and I hope he is at peace now. I can't even imagine how hard it is losing a loved one in such a way!
I was hoping Aaron could do it but I also knew the crazy amount of work and luck and sheer time it would have taken for him to break free of himself and his past and his surroundings.
Substance abuse is no substitute for fame. It is a substitute for a loving family.
I mean, if you're an individual that enjoys family so much that it gives you a super endorphin high whenever you're around them, I guess. I am personally not one of those people, but I suppose there are some.
The last thing I feel when I go home after visiting my family is, "Hot damn! When can I scratch up enough gas money to go visit again?! I'm gonna quit my job and rob a bank to go visit them again RIGHT NOW SO HELP ME GOD"

I wish you would’ve brought up his parents. They were leeches to both him and Nick! It’s so messed up too that his parents told him they were divorcing the day of the shooting of mtv cribs. He had to act like living there was amazing while he had to contend with knowing that he was going to loose it all 😢 I blame his parents for his death. They did nothing to protect him as a kid and instead preyed on him
I followed this story for the last several months-it was quite easy because Carter was posting every day and doing other peoples’ podcasts. The internet sentiment while he was alive was “oh my god look at this train wreck! He looks like he’s strung out on meth! He can’t stop lying! Aaron just stop!” Whole accounts were devoted to tracking his nonsensical statements and criticizing everything about his existence. I saw almost zero evidence of empathy towards the person. Now, it’s “oh my god RIP. I wish you could’ve received the help you needed. I will always remember your music!” I understand mourning a death, but that’s quite the turn.
I don't think those are the exact same people saying opposite things.
I'm not saying that this is the case. But it is quite possible that the people "virtually rubbernecking" and possibly even encouraging the "trainwreck" by their mere attention are not the same people that are now commiserating it. After having their attention brought to it by his demise. Just a thought.

i was a big fan of Arron as a girl. It her me to see how is life was going so I looked away. i didn't like the hate he was getting and thought his attitude needed checking and i could tell he was loving and needed love. i try to stay out of celebrities personal lives and I'm not a troll so i wouldn't have been a person seen harassing him. maybe there are others like me. my heart is broken for Arron and his family and i was watching his no jumper interview the day before he passed and was wishing he could heal. just saying... i agree with you, but maybe there are fans like me who like his brother couldn't watch him hurt himself. RIP Arron
That’s essentially why I never really could keep up with him. I knew he was trouble just from a few interviews I had seen, but I just gave up keeping up with him because I knew it would all be biased and just well look what Aaron‘s doing now, Trainwreck strikes again... and now it’s all RIP.
The last line was heavy Dr. Grande. I think tattooing one's face makes it hard for the public to believe there aren't issues going on and that's pretty permanent as well.

I vaguely know his name. I know I heard about him somewhere but that's pretty much it. I feel didn't feel like I'm missing something. Hearing about him beating his dog, arguing with neighbours desperately seeking public attention doesn't seem very likeable to me. He was likely a douchebag.
I know that Aaron did a lot of strange things but the reason he owed money for taxes and declared bankruptcy was because he gave all of his money to his parents at a young age so that his parents would not face issues since they owed a lot of money on their taxes. So say what you want but he did give all his money to his parents to help them early on before he had more troubles.

@@teijaflink2226 there is some real weak laws out in Cali where they now have to save like something like 10 or 20 percent of the child's income for them when they are 18. But no one enforces it and it isn't much money. Pretty sure it is only in Cali too. Any money made elsewhere doesn't matter.

I don't think it's fair to say he wasn't a fan of paying taxes. He filed for bankruptcy because of back taxes from when he was a minor before he had control of his finances. It's sad. These child stars are exposed to so much and worked way too hard. This guy never had a chance.

Aaron’s death is such a tragedy. Just a few weeks ago he made a short saying how he relentlessly bullied about his tattoos, his weight. Everything. You could tell he was depressed. I hope Aaron went straight to heaven where he’ll have love

Aaron was the ultimate victim of being born into an unfortunate family, essentially bred to perform after his parents realised how profitable his older brother was. His addiction to substances and social media was at once fascinating and horrifying to watch, his progression was visible to all, and he was so damaged he seemed unable to discern who was worth trusting in his life…possibly no one ever was.
A truly tragic ending for a truly sweet and genuine young man, just an absolute shame, well done as always Dr Grande, RIP Aaron Carter 🕊♥️🌵

This is what happens when you’re so wanted, successful, wealthy before you can legally drive.
These child stars hit a plateau at 20 years old, and all of that fame is gone.
I can only imagine what what that does to someone’s mind.
We’ve watched this speeding runaway train for a long time now, knowing it was going to go off the tracks, and sadly, it went off the tracks a few days ago.
Especially when they aren't setup to think about life outside of the fame. The Carter family was clearly determined for fame, mainly centered around the boycrush next door thing... So when his fame plateaued there was nothing else worth believing in. Nick is lucky that he became famous in a stable group that's still together now. His fame is tied to a very grounding force of people and a genuine passion for music.
Overdose is the leading cause of death for people between 18-49 right now. This unfortunately includes my own brother this year. I’m afraid for our youth.

I feel that life alone is already difficult to navigate, adding drugs and fame just worsen everything. It’s utterly sad how so many people have fallen prey to the destructive powers of substance addiction.

I don’t ever doubt someone’s claim that a family member SA them. It happens way more often than you want to believe, sadly. The Carters remind me so much of my own family. Dysfunctional, abusive, codependent, traumatized, and broken.
Big oof that his neighbors said they’re sad he died but relieved he’s out of the neighborhood.
Aaron was known to terrorize his neighbors. Blaring loud music, repetitive beats through all hours; especially at night... with his windows open. He also spraypainted all over his driveway and garage floors creating a mess and a stain on the neighborhood. He often disturbed the peace with loud music, loud vehicles, loud ATV's, etc... Also there was an incident recently where Aaron was sitting on his porch (front) brandishing firearms while the sounds of young children were outside. Aaron also drove while intoxicated. It was just a matter of time before he hurt or killed an innocent person.

Being a sibling of a well known celebrity can be difficult. Andy Gibb, the youngest of the Gibb brothers had his own struggles. The only Jackson sibling who managed to have their own successful music career is Janet.
Many former child performers have difficulty maintaining their celebrity status once they reach adulthood. Unfortunately some begin abusing alcohol and drugs.
"Crazy little party girl" was my jam back then at 10 yrs old.. even though I asked myself what does this kid, born the same yr as me, know about parties?😅 But at the end he really looked terrible, his inner brokenness showed all over his face and eyes. So sad man.R.i.p.

Well it can suck whether you have cancer or not. But on balance not having it is a good thing.
Gotta tell ya, being clean is f*cking amazing. Life sucks, but when you aren't hobbled by horrible health and an addiction's claws buried in your shoulder and neck like a really badly trained falconry bird, you can finally try and make your life better and actually *want* to.
Feeling happy hormones again without using a substance is crazy nice, and not being trapped in a barely functional husk is crazy nice, too.

Aaron suffered from mental illness, unhealed childhood (and adult) trauma. He lived in the shadow of his more famous (and less burdened) brother. He suffered from active addiction and all that comes with that. He suffered from bad behavior and paranoia bc of everything listed above. It’s all very sad. His soul (I hope) is now at peace 🕊
Nobody "suffers" from bad behavior. He was a grown man and he had plenty of chances to make positive decisions and change the direction of his life. He was a victim, but he was also a perpetrator and he hurt a lot of people and animals and his kid. It's pathetic to be in your mid 30s and still can't grow up and be responsible for your own actions.

Such an insight because I've never heard anyone really say something like that.
And it makes me wonder if the heavy drug use that so many celebrities get addicted to (and it seems to increase as fame slips away) is a substitute for fame or the high of applause.
That if they are not being adored in public or getting applause they use to capture that high - even if it is for a few days away from the spotlight. Because they need the fame fix daily
I read an article about Justin beiber, he said exactly that - that he used drugs to cope with his childhood fame. “Because you’re so used to the highs of crowds and going up and down all the time”.

This dudes been toxic non-stop online ever since tiktok has taken over. Still sad to hear of his passing. People don’t just “drown” in a bathtub. Substance abuse and childhood fame claim another soul.
It’s sad all he ever wanted as a kid was his parents love and quality time. His family only cared about money and took advantage of their own children spending the money nick and Aaron earned. That’s already gonna mess the kids up, between that and the drugs it’s so sad what happened. I hope now he is happy and at peace
It's nice to see someone acknowledge that Nick was just as much a victim as Aaron. The Carter parents are awful in my opinion. Seeing people blame Nick is ignorant and disgusting. Aaron always blamed Nick for leaving him alone with his parents and the worse Aaron felt the more he blamed Nick even making up horrible things about him to threatening Nicks pregnant wife. What people forget is Nick was also used and abused by his parents and being older he was able to get away sooner. Nick has done so much therapy to get where he is and should never be blamed for distancing himself from the insanity. IMHO Nick having his band members unlike Aaron being solo probably gave him a huge advantage and support.

Sadly, he was married to his drugs as many are these days, and paid with his life

Had me almost cry at the end. The stupid reckless things I did when I was using are so hard to look back on but they certainly remind me how lucky I am to be alive. Sobriety is difficult but if you're struggling please remember that sobriety is possible.
Let's not forget all of Aaron's animal abuse, burning a turtle, beating dogs and they constantly kept mysteriously disappearing. Luna, Mufasa, Spirit, Nala, Bam Bam and the list goes on. Anyone that tried to help him was called a hater or BSB(Backstreet Boy) gangstalker. Begging for money from his "disabled cuties". He threatened to kill Nick's wife and unborn baby, so they took a restraining order out on him, he brought this on himself yet blamed everyone else. Huffing duster and nodding out online but his "fans" excused it as he was just tired, or he was trolling everyone, all those "yes" people have played a part in his demise.
And sending d.. k pics to a 15 year old when he was 24. He knew how old she was.

Very accurate analysis. First- he was to young to be viewed as a “sex symbol”. He was only 8 years old when he stArted his career. 2nd-when he was on the Doc show, they told him he needed to take a break from showbiz, and concentrate on his healing. Obviously he didn’t. Being famous and rich and “known” was his number one priority. He had been to rehab multiple times, it’s not like he didn’t have help. He had a rough life, but HE choice his path. His brother nic was on drugs too. He got off the drugs, cleaned up his act, got married and now has 3 beautiful children. I don’t blame nic and his sister for putting up healthy barriers. Even with family, sometimes enough is enough.
Exactly, if you associate with an addict/alcohol or violent person you can become like them, as the Bible says: "Bad associations ruins good habits" and Aaron needed to stay away from smokers/potheads/addicted types but he just didn't practice enough self care, as Nick later realized and he had to get a restraining order to keep Aaron away, also did his twin sister Angel. That angered/depressed Aaron and made his guilt feel more overwhelming, but it didn't stop his dependence on drugs
Ngl, I couldn't stand Aaron. However, I do understand addiction and narcissism. I admit I was watching some of AC, a couple of years ago, and I'm surprised he lived to 34. I've never seen anyone as bad as AC.. He was a very sick man. I'm glad he's at peace. I really honestly hate his mother, Jane. I'd like to see Dr. Grande do a video on her!! What a manipulating horrible mother!!!

He was really hard to watch. I admit to sometimes watching "trainwreck" people out of fascination, but all the clips of him were too hard to watch. I might be wrong for saying this but I do think that sometimes people break behind repair, with the wrong mix of trauma and drug abuse. There are people who aren't coming back, they are a husk. I live in a really bad neighborhood full of drug abuse and despair, and Aaron was behaving like someone I step over on my way to work in the morning.
@@benm3382 Exactly, I also can't watch Aaron's videos when he was angrily ranting, scolding his girlfriend Melanie, and using too much profanity/cuss words. His videos that show him sober, intelligent, and sounding sane are very interesting to watch
I would say the break down of Aaron's family unit was the most major initial contributing factor to his inability to maintain his sobriety as well. It was a regular theme he would personally make reference to in interviews of what he was hurt by. His parents divorce, having to perform through that, the death of his sister in now similar circumstances, and a sense of abandonment from his other family members.
He was a child star, who was arguably used as a cash cow by self-interested parents and other parties, and he was aware of it. The worst thing that happened to him was that he found fame so young, and didn't have reliable guardians around him acting in his best interests. By his own testimony, the conditioning had already taken place at a formative age - he was surrounded by enablers, users, and proverbial "parasites".. as with so many child stars.. but Aaron was clearly of a soft-hearted disposition, and in his adulthood seemed to struggle with the ability to act as his own agent. Arguably he got a point of being too weak to get himself out of the void without help, and was probably sceptical of the motives of any truly well-meaning people left in his life to accept help.
Exactly, very on point! Teens/young adults usually don't have the mental/emotional capacity to deal with and endure family issues, DV/financial problems, so they tend to withdraw into their own worlds shutting more and more people out, even those trying to help them, or they hurt themselves with eating disorders/drugs/violently lashing out/taking big risks, while many commit suicide which is the 3rd cause of death among very young people, violence is #2, and horrific car crashes is the #1 leading cause of injury/death. Aaron's mother is an alcoholic who attended rehab when Aaron did, his father was likely addicted to alcohol and his cause of death was labeled unknown, or the family sealed the father's autopsy records. Through it all Aaron said his mother was the love of his life and that he still loved his brother Nick, but he said he hated his twin sister Angel, and he couldn't forgive her for trying to have him committed to an institution on a psych hold
His sister Leslie died of a drug overdose, and I'm sure he did, too. I know the cliches about money not buying happiness, but I think too much too fast seems to literally buy misery. This story is becoming "age old." Maybe when they're so young they don't always die, but the young ones that succeed seem too commonly to go off kilter in one form or another.

Aaron was in big denial and loved the effects of drugs too much! He often pushed loved ones away/caring fans or they did, because many could see his reckless behaviors and often denying that he seriously needed help
The animal abuse reports are abhorrent and make it very hard for me to feel sorry for him. I do have sympathy for his younger self, though. He definitely had NPD and BPD, and perhaps a psychotic disorder. Too bad he never got the right help.
I don’t like that either. That sadly is usually in a sign of a much bigger and more serious problem. I dida report on John Nash, a very famous mathematician and a genius. He had schizophrenia and he did things to animals as a child. Jeffrey Dahmer also killed animals with chemical. None of these cases are justifiable, andI’m also not saying that Aaron Carter would’ve turned into someone like Jeffrey Dahmer. Just saying that this was a sign of either his already present mental health issues or symptoms of something not yet diagnosed. I wish things could’ve been different for him and that his circumstances were different. Even if he had gotten proper help for his problems, he sadly would still struggle. I have a friend who has several mental illnesses, and despite having medication and going to therapy, he still struggles. tTe trauma is still there. He’smore self aware than Aaron and can recognize when he’s saidor done something wrong and will apologize to those he hurts, but he’ll tell you that the medication and therapy are fixed or cures.
From a personal and professional view it is hard to treat schizoaffective disorder. I lost my sister to mental illness. I watched her slowly die, until one day I received the notification I always knew would come. She wouldn’t take the medications because she could no longer hear God’s voice. She believed God was punishing her for taking the medications. She saw my dog as the devil and I caught her choking him. We as a family did everything we could. She was hospitalized numerous times, but after release the cycle would start over. She would threaten us and call us names. That was not my sister.
In my 20-years of taking care of patients some thought the medications were poison. Paranoia runs rampant, as does delusions and hallucinations.
You can’t apply rational thought to an irrational individual. I wouldn’t wish what I saw with my sister on anyone.

I worked Airport Security in 2001 (prior to 9/11). Aaron and his "Crew" came through. He was so nice to my Co-workers that were Fans, giving Autographs. I myself heard his music but it was more for my nieces and nephews.
Over time I learned about his life history. I believe he was a victim of circumstances. True he made various poor choices but being so young and seeing how his Mom was with his finances was troublesome. He really didn't have a chance.
In the end, I really hope he is at peace. His soul was so cold and lost (due to life's cruel ways) I kind of knew, he wouldn't recovery.
Seeing the episode of House of Carters (when his Dad visited), made me think that he is with his Dad (eternally) again and happy.
RIP AC. You had such a fast and challenging life. You truly deserve peace now.

He was so incredibly angry and bitter in his last few years.. if you look at videos from 6-7 years ago he seemed like a different person. He was completely caught up in his own lies and denial. As they say, "you can't change what you don't acknowledge".. Unfortunately I don't think that he could acknowledge how he'd become an abuser himself, how he was deemed an unfit parent, and couldn't care for his pets properly.. the drugs made him believe that he hadn't fallen as far as he had and he deluded himself into thinking that he could talk himself out of any confrontation and was always "right" in a situation. Can't say I really liked him as a person in the past few years from what I saw, but seems like he had the capacity to be a nice person many years ago.
His drug addiction wasn’t him. I saw a young boy suddenly a young man alone - crying out for help and being kicked down by others that stigmatize. I saw a young boy that was used and forgotten when he wasn’t that little boy anymore, left to survive on his own with NO role models in his family. The accusations against him stated above are not clear and some proven false. Everything is analyzed and twisted with no regards to what he may have been suffering and living with. Can we imagine Aaron having a healthy childhood? To be a healthy adult, one must have a stable, healthy childhood and the ability to get help. He seemed to have tried. It’s noticed in some of his wording but the words are mixed and anyone in this field can almost sense his anxiety just by listening to him speak. I strongly believe and see that he was neglected. If you’re in the field you would know the wording should be, “I dislike the substance disorder” Again, he was young and had parents that struggled with addiction and his siblings did too, including Nick. Except Nick took harder drugs and alcohol. Aaron was vulnerable and honest. He cried for help. His videos showed this. Where was his support? He didn’t seem to have a huge support system. When anyone is so young and a substance abuser whom felt loved by fans and all of those around him while growing into growth spurts, feeling as if he had it all and was validated - to then suddenly finding it being taken away, the change is not only in his career but also C-PTSD and suddenly predisposed to genetic addictive behaviors, the chances of hitting bottom is higher in Hollywood. Huffing cans vs heroin is a big difference. He admitted he thought it wasn’t so dangerous. The Xanax use can take anyone. Xanax doesn’t discriminate. The abandonment that he received, abuse, bullying, and the stigma did not help this young man. He needed his loved ones and he didn’t have any because they are all not well either. Unfortunately the addiction took his life. It’s a terrible tragedy. I see his family speak of him with kind words but where were those words when he asked for them? Why weren’t those words showcased in social media while he was alive? Instead he was humiliated by his siblings publicly. I wouldn’t want to shame his family but I hope his death helps others see that neglecting your loved one, shaming them, and wanting nothing to do with them is a choice but when they die and now they speak up, bringing up all of his great qualities and heart, it makes me feel sick. This support was what he needed while alive, not dead.
@@MelanieRful Yeah I understand-- it wasn't him that I disliked, but the addiction. i definitely agree that he needed his loved ones, but in a family as dysfunctional as that I understand why his siblings disconnected.. perhaps they were afraid of being pulled back down into *their* addictions and wanted to protect their new families. I definitely believe that he did need his family and it's so sad to see how lonely he really was. The cruel comments certainly did not help him and I think conditioned him to constantly be on the defense and in denial of the consequences of his own actions. It seems like he became obsessed with livestreaming so he could deliberately respond to the cruel comments and deny, deny, deny.. I can see someone who was a fun, warm person in him, but he became extremely combative it seems to protect himself. Just imaging the mental battle he dealt with is exhausting in itself.. I hope he's at rest and in peace in the afterlife.

@@yespls4184 Yes, completely agree. And I was wondering why he didn’t ignore mean comments on livestreams or have moderators boot them out. It was almost as if he felt he’d be able to vindicate and “win” the argument against him with every stream. He wasn’t able to see how it was a focus on the negativity which probably added to the negative perception of him. As he spiraled, more concern (rightly so) but also more mean and dehumanizing comments were made to him, which I think always put him on the defense and made him agitated and angry (drugs probably can do that too, depending on the type). But I also think he was live-streaming to look for connection too, because at least from the outside his life looked lonely, but it wasn’t good for him. All these negative elements (addiction, mental illness, mean spirited comments, loneliness, perhaps feeling unloved, his rocky and abusive relationships) all seemed to work in a cycle he wasn’t able to break. What a sad story for all involved.

She was pretty upset that her son Nick was being managed by somebody else and someone else was making a lot of money off of Nick, she decided to self manage and promote Nick. I don’t know if Nick wanted it or not but he didn’t have a choice at that young age

That smells like a betrayal of parents who only want you to perform and then keep your money. The best he could have done to himself is getting a better education as an adult. He was highly intelligent and could pick up new things quite quick. It's tragic no one showed him the way to education a long time before. That would have given him stability. Also Aaron suffered physical violence from Nick as could have been seen on tv. Aaron deserved much better. Melanie tried to help him - but unfortunately they met way too late.
Very true, Aaron said Nick bullied/hit him a lot likely due to Nick's addictions to alcohol/drugs and sibling rivalry, but Aaron still looked up to his older brother, as Nick was leading a cleaner life and revived his own singing career. Later when Nick seemed to have kicked the drug habit Aaron rebelled more and more spiraling into the drug world, which lead to his horrible demise
No idea he died. I lost a friend to overdose, can't imagine what his siblings are going through, even if they were estranged. His parents ruined him.

About a year ago I watched a video of Aaron Carter arguing with some trolls on Instagram. He was accused by one of having BPD and he replied, "yeah, that's one I've been told I have. And?" Looking at this whole train reck of a situation, I can see why someone would say he has BPD. I feel bad most for his son though, he will grow up without knowing his father.

I do believe he was sexually abused at some point of his life. I don't know if by a family member or a manager or boss, I don't know how often nor how bad it was... But I do believe it happened and that he was in complete denial about it, for a long time. About the mental illnesses... It's hard to tell if he had a personality disorder or not, since a lot of symptoms could be the consequence of drugs. He also seemed narcissistic, which is common in people with abandonment issues or people who didn't had a childhood. Regardless, it was a mistake to pursue a career on the spotlight so young, it clearly exposed him to danger and distorted his view of reality. He was spoiled in some ways (having access to so much money without anyone teaching him how to manage money), and he was damaged in other ways... That would traumatize anyone. Also, losing a sibling, on itself, is a big trauma. He failed himself, over and over again. And his family also failed him, over and over again. It's just tragic.
He was given very expensive presents in his teens by adult men who were big shots in show business. Jeanette Walls reported on the most famous one in 2004. There has been a lot of speculation over what these were for and, even if it was innocent, why his parents allowed such extravagant and inappropriate gifts from grown men.
He came out as bisexual a few years ago and then quickly walked it back, and he had exhibitionist tendencies. Many people who are sexualized too young have lives of sexual confusion inappropriate sexual openness.

It’s always sad to lose anyone so young - especially when having to “live with demons” for so long. One thing really got my attention: Lancaster, CA. Having spent many long weeks at the NASA facility in Palmdale, my impression of Lancaster was “meh.” When I googled it, I was told that it’s a nice place to “start over” and had some serious cons (like the ex-cons from the prison). It seems like a weird location for a star to call home.

From what I know about the Carter family, they are a very dysfunctional family and their divorced parents were not exactly ideal role-models. All the siblings lived with each other at one point, and I think they all abused drugs & alcohol. I remember from their reality show "House of Carter," Aaron was the one always throwing a tantrum or having a meltdown. I think he felt that his siblings would always gang up on him & he would respond in a "fight or flight" response. He seemed to always be argumentative & aggressive. Maybe this added to his paranoia that his siblings were out to get him. I do remember Nick trying to get him into rehab & help him get sober. I thought that was strange that he should have gotten just as much recognition & validation as Demi Lovato for being 5 years sober! Was he expecting a medal? It sounds very grandiose & attention-seeking!
In my opinion, I believe he has an inferiority-complex because once his career took a dive, he didn't have the confidence or the focus to start again or start something new. He was talented enough that he could have worked on other projects and not live in his brother's shadow. He seemed to be very self-destructive & self-sabotaging. We can say it was all because of his substance abuse & mental illness, but the way he threatened to kill his brother's wife or even get into arguments with his neighbors over loud music indicates that he felt very entitled, and had absolutely no respect for other people.
Aaron was paranoid/angered at any criticism received, and he felt entitled due to his rebellious BI-Polar disorder with plenty of narcissistic behaviors which most entertainers have in addition to their bossy Diva ways
Becoming a child star disrupts all aspects of life, most notably maturity. It’s a shame he died so young, but it seemed that he was tumbling inevitably toward the outcome for a decade or more.
Aaron Carter and Prince Harry draw attention to the fact that so many of us are seen as Scapegoats - as 'Spares' - by our toxic families. So many of us wait too long to leave our toxic family members, and that always has dire consequences.
I was a huge fan of his brother Nick (as well as BSB), never cared for Aaron. However, his tragic life is truly heartbreaking. Their parents created a toxic & abusive home, they were the type of people who never should have been allowed to raise children. Aaron, Nick & the rest of their siblings were robbed of a stable childhood.
I never cared for that garbage "music" or any of those "pop tarts". I thought it was just weird, with no real artistry, imagination. It's just BS that makes money. They're all dancing about on your paycheck. It's garbage, it was garbage then and it's garbage now.

I had an ex partner like this. Serious problems with drugs and alcohol and only got clean when he wanted to appear superior to others or brag about his personal “will power” and how supposedly healthy and fit he was. He never wanted to get cleaned up for the regular and obvious reasons. Its very narcissistic.
So what ? If that’s what made him feel good then good for him . Getting clean could have possibly adjusted his attitude .

Frankly, given his parents, Aaron Carter never truly had a chance in life. They took gross advantage of the child's money making prospects, rather than be parents. The reason he owed the IRS was his parents (who were his managers) stole all his money and did not pay the taxes on the money as well. When he turned of age, he was bankrupt, had a career in decline, was on drugs and had to face the reality his parents had used him. All of those factors combined would be extremely difficult to overcome without excellent therapists.
Reminds me of Gary Coleman. Very similar situation. His parents stole his money as well, and he was reduced to working as a security guard. He was probablymore successful than Aaron. Sad howthese parents screw these kids over.
He was my age so I’d always hope he would seek help and stick with it. I used to have his posters on my walls. My childhood self would ve never imagined this happening.

I think that your analysis regarding Aaron is spot-on: He had too much too soon, shot his wad and couldn't regain his earlier momentum. Drugs enhanced his delusions of grandeur and in the end couldn't bear that he was no longer an idol and that his career was finished. His story reminds me of Bad company's "Shooting Star," although I can honestly say I never heard of him before you posted his story.

Thank you for honesty and not romanticizing his passing as most are doing now. I get that some may not know any better but many news outlets are even contradicting their own previous reports with rose colored lies.
It seems Aaron never got over his brothers fame and the issues with his siblings as a child. He was always lying about something and seemed paranoid, but that was probably the drug's effect. At least now he can rest permanently and not be tormented by his own mind.

This was very informative Dr. Grande. The part where you talked about how a person, as did Aaron, become delusional with their future endeavors due to their substance abuse really rang true for me regarding someone in my family who looking back now did that very same thing. I'm sorry that he couldn't get past his drugs, truly sorry, but I'm even more sorry for the baby boy he left behind.
I was so shocked when i heard that he Passed away . I remember him when he was a Child when he starts his Music Career he was so cute and a Happy Kid . I think he suffer being in the Shadow of his Brother Nick who Manage his Career untill now with his Boyband while People have foregotten him, he wanted to be Famous again like when he was a Child Touring arround Europe and US whe he cudn't have that the Drugs became his Bestfriend Untill he died.. #7 is definitely what I felt he saw his situation as. When he did get clean at times he thought everyone would be like "yay, you're clean let's get you to the top of the charts again" but when you're grown nobody responds how it would be when you're younger. It's sad. It turned him into the type to brag about how much he had when he had less and didn't brag when he had everything. Was a huge fan growing up but up until the last few years you could tell then drugs took its toll on him and changed him as a person. This dude was not arrogant at all when he was young. At least from the old interviews I watched growing up. I literally watched him grow up from the beginning of his career and you can tell he wasn't gonna stop using it if he didn't blow up again. In my own opinion I think if Aaron stayed as famous as he was he would be alive today. Rest easy 🙌🎙️
Another tragic Hollywood story. Such a good looking kid, moreso than his more famous older brother. So sad that he felt like such a castoff in his own family. This was obvious by his penchant for tattoos all over his neck and face--a way of both trying to get noticed, while trying to hide at the same time. The poor little brother. I wish these people would call out to Jesus, only HE can free them from the pain in their lives, and give them new life! 💔🙏

Great analysis as always. I think the main thing that broke him was that he is another sad example of what being a child star can do to you when you become adult. You have way too much burden on your shoulder way too early and don't know how to deal with it, and when you become adult and your success becomes less, you're destined to have a difficult life. Just look at other examples of child stars and what became of them as adults. Just look at what became of Michael Jackson as a result of having his childhood taken from him, just look what became of Macaulay Culkin, Drew Barrymore, Lindsay Lohan, etc, when they became adults.
There is NO excuse for animal abuse; shame on him for taking his problems out on his dog! Dogs are the most faithful beings on the planet. I hope the dog is in a good loving home now 🙏🐾

He didn't drown, there was no water in his lungs. He made a video shortly before passing where he warned that his family was trying to kill him and make him appear crazy. I believe him. It's such a sad story of a young man gone forever.

I've watched a lot of aaron's live content and he truly did have a deep anger and resentment for living under Nick's shadow. He brings it up constantly accusing anyone that criticizes him a BSB fan.
Maybe a lot of Back Street Boys fans were bullying but also bitter haters that fed into Aaron's explosive angry profanity laced rants, but he defended himself verbally often although he sounded very enraged or unhinged. The Bible says to shun all who are hateful but Aaron just wanted those cyberbullying people out of his message boards and to just have a happy time with his true fans
Jane said Nick lied about Lou Pearlman molesting him because he was jealous of Aaron and didn't want him to have a record deal. But there was in old video were Brian & Nick wrote Aaron a song and BSB allowed Aaron to open for them. I wonder if that's were some of his resentment came from.
I often wonder if qualified psychiatrists make these diagnosis? I also wonder if substance abuse leads to mental health issues or mental health issues lead to drug abuse or is it a mixture? It’s also concerning that so many child stars who become so successful so young with so much money seem to pass away way to young . Then if it all disappears they are lost souls. It’s very sad. Drug induced phycological problems seems to be a major concern in this day and age.

I think you were dead on in your analysis, but Aaron's story isn't new. What happened to him has happened to many child and teen stars where they live out of control riding the fame high and then the day comes when they're no longer relevant and the Hollywood industry casts them away and they go down into addiction and mental illness. I blame the parents because many of them push their kids into the limelight so they can live large through them, oftentimes the parents wind up getting divorced over it and tonce the child grows up and has an inability to reinvent themselves, they wind up hooked on drugs and desperately trying to be relevant. I was close friends with a famous actor and his family and he was very strong on pushing family values and his children grew up and became successful working in the industry. He talked to us about how Hollywood only saw you as a cash commodity and would cast you out when they could no longer bank on you. He said over and over that smart parents would school their kids on getting the money and saving it and using it as an investment when their time of fame was over. Sadly, many of the parents have no training in economics or ethics where you find the parents just as out of control as the kids.

I am a recovering drug addict and have been clean for over 20 years. It is true what you said that “sobriety is it’s own reward”, yet hard when you cannot share that victory with society. Aaron Carter was prepared to share that with the world…yet, as you say no one cared/ and others would not have believed him. I feel he did not have the real joy of Sobriety and this way why he was jaded, because he was hiding behind a false narrative.

Not only is it its own reward, but it's one you sow later like a crop. Some people struggle with the benefits of being sober over time versus the instant gratification of drugs, especially when those drugs are replacing fame and attention which were also instant gratification.

People who are depressed aren’t always nice, he had a stutter, and didn’t have his usually bubbly personality. He took too many benzodiazepines and lean and overdosed in the bathtub drowning.
A young man in a lot of pain, who couldn’t see a way out of the woods he got truly lost in. Some people with substance misuse issues just don’t make it 😢 hope Aaron is at peace now xx

Some of Aaron's neighbors were Karen types and picked fights with him or called police to Aaron's house. One male neighbor even called him a washed up entertainer, which provoked Aaron to verbally defend himself
